Does anyone know if i can return the phone after getting the replacement? I want to get the other color instead , but the store people say I can’t return the phone and applecare reps are saying that as well.
 
Zero quality check? Really? There is going to be one damn phone that passes through with something wrong. Geez.

Hey guys. Is there a plastic cover Over the camera that needs to be pulled off? Having read this thread it’s the first thing I looked for. No hair but I do have a little dot that looks like it’s a pin hole in a plastic piece but I don’t think it comes covered. Using my nail I can make it bigger. Apparently this server doesn’t let me upload a pic from my 8 plus saying it’s too big. Ugh

Apple is correct. You can return your replacement device if it's defective, but Apple will NOT allow you to exchange it for a different color. You will receive the exact model, storage and color from the original purchase.

I mean can i return it, to get a refund . Then buy the other color variant when it’s available
 
The probability of you getting a refurbished unit is slim and totally none. My experience has been a few phones are held back to accommodate those with issues. I received an iPhone years ago with a crack, went to the store that day, and walked out with a new sealed unit. It was years ago, maybe things are different now, but that was my experience.

Last year with my Matte Black iPhone 7 Plus, it had paint damage and a crack on the screen. It took Apple 2 weeks to get me a new one and they gave me a white box one. I said absolutely not, they went in the back and came back with a factory sealed unit! I was not going to take a coffin box iPhone 7 Plus after only having it for 2 damn weeks!!! So I took the one that was factory sealed and have not regretted it!! Also, they went on about it being harder to activate, I told them I have A&T, which is a simple switch of the SIM Card. Do not let them bully you into taking something you do not deserve or want!

I ordered 2 phones, both had dust. seeing how many people have dust, I feel exchanges will have dust and dont wanna go thru that nightmare so Im just picking the better one and avoiding exchange hell.
 
One small speck on the edge of the lower camera. Not super happy but since everything else is solid, probably not worth the return and exchange hassle.

As I posted in another thread, I was able to get a replacement (new in box) that is entirely dust free. If you are not satisfied with yours, by all means get a replacement.

How did you manage to get a new unit instead of grey / white envelope one? Did you return all assecoires with it (charger, headphones) or just turn in old device?

Yes, I brought the box with me and they basically returned my old one and sold me a new one.
 
That's what I got last Friday... There is something like a hair or an eyebrow stuck inside the lens.
I already returned it. Hope the next one I order will be from another batch... :(

Got my hairy X swapped out against an absolutely spotless “white envelope” unit. Took maybe 30min including wait with no appointment. Very happy with Apple customer service. Hope Apple investigates this issue though - hair and large fuzz under camera lenses not acceptable for ANY smartphone let alone a top of the line $1k+ ultra premium phone
 
I had a piece of dust in the camera lens of my 7 Plus last year. Guy at Apple didn't believe me because he couldn't see it haha, but nevertheless, I just returned and bought a new one.
