Hello every one,
I tried to browse all 126 pages and I didn't find the answer to my question.
Why the hell my GTX 750 TI doesn't work on slot 1 (MacPRO 2.1) running 10.11.4 OSX
It works on slot 2, 3 and 4 (while on slot 3,4 the boot seems to be very long)

Thank you

Nobody knows, but FAQ 12 clearly says to try a different slot if you're having problems with slot 1.

12) What slot should I install the card in?

Many people have reported issues with the PC cards not working well in PCIe slot 1, that is, the slot closest to the CPUs. There's an image on AnandTech that shows the slot numbers, for reference. As such, you should probably install the card in the other 16-lane slot. For the 2009 and newer models, that means slot 2.

I know this is the Nvidia thread, but for FCPX, AMD card usually work better (for the same cost), and plenty of choice of low noise 3rd party card. In fact, even the reference card, just lower the voltage a bit and create a low noise fan profile also can make it almost un-audible even in a quiet environment.

I don't know how 750Ti works in FCPX, but from memory, there are fanless version 750Ti. If you don't want any noise, you may consider that as well.

The Nvidia web site contains OS X drivers, you just have to select Mac Quadro as your card regardless of which card you actually have. (They are unified drivers.)

Alternatively, MacVidCards keeps a pretty good index of Nvidia OS X drivers here:

Short answer: it normally takes ~24 hours for NVIDIA to release a new official web driver for each OS update. Given that 10.11.5 literally just came out, you should check back tomorrow to see if a new version has been released.

Good news, the 10.11.5 Betas seem to work just fine with Final 10.11.5

Wait a day for 10.11.5 or use the Beta.

Confirmed, updated to 10.11.5 with the Nvidia beta driver.

Had that annoying issue where after the OS install reboot it ends up on a black screen + nearly completed frozen progress bar (system beeps the 'Funk' sound if you press Esc at this time). No biggie though - force reboot, install Nvidia driver, reboot again, all's working 100%.

Need to use Bootcamp and wondering if it is possible to get a GT120 and 750Ti working together in Win7 SP1?

I have one monitor plugged into each card.
In OSX everything is fine.
In Win7 the 120 works but the 750 outputs no signal.
MP5,1 with the cards mentioned above.

I downloaded the newest drivers for the 750 which made the 120 work only as a generic VGA card (very lo-res anyway), and the 750 is still outputting nothing.

I searched and saw a post about a similar problem that mentioned the drivers for each card don't work together, but I don't really understand windows at all or what to do.

edit: more searching makes me think it's to do with the card being non-EFI. Still stumped though.

Any ideas?

edit2: After much fumbling about with various combinations of installing, uninstalling, disabling and rebooting things I just gave up, went to reboot into OSX, forgot to press option so it rebooted into windows and all of a sudden it started working.

edit3: …and it suddenly stopped working again. This was not even after a reboot, I was working on the desktop and the screen plugged into the 750ti just went black. The 750ti was then listed as 'standard vga adapter' in the device manager. And to be clear, everything is working fine in OSX.

I've re-installed the latest web drivers for the 750ti and it is listed again properly in device manager, but not working.

What is going on?

Has anyone tried Photoshop with the 10.11.5 web drivers? Just wondering if those issues have been fixed.

Thanks it works bud the left fan is on top speed and make more noise than all the mac,
I have fan control bud is not the fans of the card.
I give back the card,
what is the best card for final cut x? no noise and not to expensive?
Thanks

I just installed a GeForce GT 610 in slot 2 of my 3,1 Mac Pro. Prior to installation I did not install any Nvidia drivers, and the computer booted up with no problem. I've since updated to 10.11.5 with no problems. Do I need to install the Nvidia drivers if they're available? Will I see any improved performance?

"Performance" is a strong word for a 610.

If it is at all unstable give it a shot. Some 640s crash a lot on OSX driver.

LOL, I realize it's not a performance card, but it's a big step up from the ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT that came with the machine. Are there Nvidia drivers available for 10.11.5 yet, or can I use older drivers?

I'm running a Asus STRIX-GTX980-DC2OC-4GD5 graphic card in my Mac Pro 5.1 (Mid 2010). Until I updated OS X to 10.11.5 everything was fine. Now I have a black screen. I thought I've updated the drivers before, but today I found out that there's a new Web Driver and a new CUDA. So I updated them (with my Macbook Pro via Target Disk Mode), shut down my Mac Pro and restarted.
But the problem's still there: black screen.
Any idea??? Could it be the drivers???? I'm really desperate.

A Maxwell card with no EFI? Almost certainly drivers are the problem. You need to have the right Nvidia drivers installed for the right OS update, AND your Nvidia preference pane has to have the Nvidia web drivers enabled in order to actually use those drivers, which I think is an NVRAM parameter. Otherwise you are stuck in a boot loop. Obviously that second part cannot be done in target disk mode, so you'll need to plop in your old card to do that.

Thanks for your quick reply. Okay, so tomorrow I'll put my old card in and see what happens. I had the web drivers enabled, but after installing the Update in Target mode I was a bit puzzled, because I couldn't choose my Card from the Web Driver's menu. Anyway, I'll try updating again tomorrow with my old card built in.
