I predict the iPhone pricing for 2019 will be the same. I wish Apple surprises us with 5G.

I’d say the pricing will remain the same as well, but what will change is the ‘trade-in policy/store services’, which undoubtedly I expect to have Apple revamp what they want to introduce for trade-ins for older devices. Apple wants to bring the consumer into the store to have them spend money, not just on the phone, but accessories and any other products. That’s the end goal.

Well Apple could possibly hold off 1tb till next year and release it at same price.
I think they need a couple years freeze on prices to be honest.
The market is too competitive at the moment.

They could hold off, but they would be leaving money on the table.

Most of the competition is happening on the midrange segment, not much competition in the premium segment.

Just don't buy this overpriced stuff unless you absolutely have to. Your existing phone is fine. After a few years stop upgrading the OS unless you read from several sources that the newer version runs fine on your phone. Whatever new 'features' come out on the latest phone mostly likely aren't worth sh*t apart from the wow factor for the first few days. A new battery is cheaper than a new phone; try that first. Don't forget that after the flush of excitement from getting a new toy wears off your'e left staring at the same old grid of icons you've had for the past gosh-knows how many years.

I agree with freezing prices. Just from observation, people are holding on to their older iPhones much longer. I see few people with X, XS, and XS Max. I mean, they are out there, but upgrades are not what they use to be ever since the X.

Your phone is now more important to your daily life than your laptop/desktop.......

For MANY people, they don't even need a full computer anymore.... everything is now being designed for mobile.

$2,000 on a phone is perfectly justified for a device that totally runs your whole life.

I think the price will stay the same. Apple will just continue to offer a more affordable phone like the XR so they can appeal to more people.

What would a $2k iPhone offer that a $750 iPhone would not, in terms of running your whole life?

People are buying midrange iPhones in vaster quantities than top tier iPhones currently because the lower cost is more appealing and phones like the XR do enough. Not sure how your model would change that.

Please, let’s not give Apple any ideas!

How do you have actual results if Apple didn’t release the numbers?

To be fair, the same question applies to your statement.

I’m not disputing that. But for a company that likes to brag about the smallest things to their investors during keynotes and/or conference calls, them not releasing numbers is an obvious sign that they’re not happy with things.

While that may very well be true, not releasing numbers is not exclusive to Apple.

Guess iPhone prices didn’t have that much an impact over sales.

Apple is still the number 1 premium smartphone oem, globally speaking.

That is because people buy anything with an Apple logo on it, no matter how crap it is.

Aren’t Beats headphones and Airpods one of the best selling items also while being total crap for the price?

No, 5G = $5000.

There won't be an increase for iPhone 11. Sales are down. Come quote me in September if I'm wrong.

Indeed. iPhone sales were down 17% Y/Y, Apple won’t increase the phone prices this year, they can’t afford to do that, not just because of market saturation, because China’s commerce can’t handle the price influx, especially when they actually just made a decrease with the iPhone prices in China over the last month.

So then apple doesn’t need to lower prices which was any point from the beginning. You can’t have it both ways.

No that’s not true at all. Sales of airpods actually were phenomenal, and the 2nd generation are completely sold out, apple can’t make them fast enough.

I doubt Apple will decrease prices. It's like admitting they were wrong. What they will probably do is increase trade-in offers on previous phones, or more offers for carriers, or add in 'free' Apple Music or other services, or something similar, to try justify the prices with most consumers.

TLDR: rather than decrease prices they will 'bundle more ****' in

Tim Cook already commented on this back in January, that they will focus/have more control on their trade-in program through marketing and iPhone payment programs extended:

Well, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Unfortunately yours are wrong.
If you think your solutions are better why don’t you name them so we can all be enlightened.

This and/or Apple will contract with manufacturers that will help cut cost down. The $1000 mark on iPhone was significant. I am really curious to find out what happens for iPhone 11 and the behavior of Apple iPhone consumers. I expect sales to be similar to X, XS. XS Max as people hold on to their phones longer. There is a price point that people can no longer tolerate and the $1000 mark is it. This is the new normal.

A lot of companies have gone belly up by trying to save margins with price increases. At some point it fails. Apple is I suspect smart enough to avoid that pit fall. Because if they’re not it’s just a matter of time before someone comes along who offers bigger, better, and faster for less

I don’t think Apple will lower the prices for their iPhones this year, but if anything, I really hope they take the time to at least make the trade-in value worth it to the consumer. I’m sure they’re going to bundle it with AppleCare or Apple Music of some sort, but does the consumer really want that bundle or would they rather have the discount off the iPhone? I’m guessing the latter.

They dropped prices in China too but the base xr was still almost $1000.

What was the final price after discount?

USD 850 or so. That’s fine for Indians. Even iPhone 7 used to start at over USD 900 for the base model at launch.

$850 in India.

Is it a "mega hit"? The XR sales ranking on Amazon.in is #98 out of 100. The top 20 smartphones being sold are all $200 or less.

https://www.amazon.in/gp/bestsellers/electronics/1805560031/

That’s combined ranking. Price was just reduced 2-3 weeks ago.

And most people are buying from brick and mortar. Amazon.in is more expensive for XR.
