I also love the "I've been reading a long time but just was compelled to join since I have to express my happiness with this company giving me 95 bucks for a 3 year old phone" defense... I can say that with 87 posts in 11 years, but come on...

I was just trying to help assure them to not worry. Most on this forum seems nice, sorry for trying to be nice I promise I'll just stick to reading this forum from now on thanks to you friend.
Well, I just registered here to tell you that I mailed my mint condition iPhone 6 to gadget gone on June 16, on the same day I mailed another phone to iGotOffer. iGotOffer received my phone 2 days later, and I had a payment the day after it was received.
June 25, I tracked my package to gadget gone to find that it had been delivered and no one had communicated to me. I emailed support and it took over a day for them to reply and say 'we're backed up'.
July 3 now! No further communication, no payment, nothing. I emailed the support person who emailed me, this Patrick guy, and the generic support email just now. I'll update you if I get a response but I really am not holding my breath. There's no excuse for them to take this long to pay a customer when I have a tracking # that tells me the phone was received and has been in their hands this long. Unbelievable.
[edit: unrelated - igotoffer paid me $73 for an iPhone 6 that doesn't even turn on anymore. All other sites offers ranged from $15-30. Was really skeptical about that, as well, but they turned out to be really pay as promised and quickly. So, I don't feel the offers being above average should always be a deterrent. Poor customer service, however, is going to really hurt Gadget Gone even if they do end up paying me.]

Update! I received a response today from Gadget Gone. They originally offered me $315 but they claim that the phone wasn't in mint condition and attached pictures as if there were scratches or scuffs but I didn't see anything. Regardless, they offered me $295 and I was like yeah that's fine and they just issued me a check. Because I've read the thread and know you're all skeptical (I was, too, and getting pretty upset that they stole my phone), here's a picture of the check - I just scribbled out my name in the account/banking numbers on the bottom.
Sorry! I should have clarified. It's an echeck. You print it out. The other options are paypal and a check mailed to you, but a reviewer said not to do paypal because you get charged a fee, so I went with echeck.
Gagetgone is the best--I recently sold a iPhone5 to them, and much to my surprise they sent me $20 more for my phone than I expected--I thought it was a 5--turned out to be a 5s, so worth $20 more--I would not have none the difference.

I recently left a position where I was bound to my outlook inbox by incessant questions mostly concerning issues that had solutions working but not yet completed. These interruptions often were unnecessary time-consuming annoyances, so I typically lay off the send button when I think my recipient may be in a similar position. but without much prodding, a GadgetGone representative answered my emails with great speed and clarified my opinions on the condition of my devices. Being more generous than they are, I rated a couple goods as mint. after agreeing on condition a check was emailed in just a few minutes. I would only ask for more communication to keep caution from turning into suspicion. I would do business with them again.
I've used GadgetGone. Received $60 for my completely fried iPhone 6s Plus. First time using, so I made sure to take a million pictures of my phone before I sent it to prove myself in any negative experience. Didn't need it, they emailed me once they received it and kept in contact with me until I received my payout. Payout took less than 24 hours since I chose to receive it via PayPal.

My phone was fried, therefor it was neither carrier unlocked nor cleared out.
Once they received it, I was only asked to log into iCloud.com and remove it from my list of phones.
They do list in the FAQs section that they would like for you to delete your data.
It does not have to be "unlocked".

I've followed MacRumors and these forums for years looking for decent "inside" information on things and have appreciated all comments regardless of members statuses.
I guess if deciding/trying to be a part of the "inside" is going to be like this, I'm not sure I want to be a part of it.
I'd take floods of "newbie" information over skeptical, judgmental internet trolls any day.

In short, yes. Amount of skin in the game increases credibility. Lack of input detracts from it. Seems pretty basic.
Great. I'm glad you have enough faith in anon internet humanity to trust everyone exactly the same. Maybe I've just been around too long, or I just know better than to trust the random newbie the same as the guy/gal who's contributed to the forums thousands of times over a decade.

Skepticism isn't a bad thing, especially when people's hard-earned money is at stake AND IT'S THE FREAKIN' INTERNET. We've been around a while and have learned to spot when posts and accounts seem suspect. I won't apologize for seeing something that fits the pattern. Some can take this for what it is, and some--it seems--take it personally. Thing is though, we aren't the ones name-calling.
