:(

Shame you can't send the Audi back for an exchange ;)

But yeah there has to be some correlation. 6 devices can not be a co-incidence, so there has to be something else causing some interference.

It's clear that your not going to get a Note 4 that will circumvent this issue now, I would maybe consider just buying a standalone GPS unit for the car and save yourself all the hassle.

I'd love to use a standalone GPS, my car has one built in, but I'm heavily addicted to Waze. I like the crowdsourcing portion of it and find it irreplaceable.

I'm looking into a GPS repeater. I think the issue is that the Note 4 has a weaker GPS antenna which for most people doesn't matter, but with the metallic windshield degrades the signal just enough for it to drop out often like mine does.

Bleh, my GPS is dropping again on my 6th Note 4. I would say this is endemic, but plenty of users say they have no issues, but I can't fathom having this level of bad luck. The only thing I can think of is my Audi metallic coated heat reflective windshield, but I've had the car for years and I've never ever had a phone drop GPS in it except for my first Note 3, which when replaced functioned perfectly. I even had a S3 that I used until my Note 4 came in the mail and the GPS performed flawlessly.

I do use my GPS a LOT, I'd say 3-4 hours per day, 6 days per week so maybe I notice these things more.

^^ we own an S4 and can verify the windshield is part if not most of the problem. In my C6 or the CTS-V it's fine. Inside the S4 it flakes out. Thankfully it has a factory GPS Unit.

Odd thing though is I've had a note 3, S3, iphone 5 and iphone 6 perform flawlessly in the same car.

Can't say then. My Note 3 is iffy in the S4. Wife's iPhone 4s works fine. But then we don't use phone GPS units in the car much. The only one I use it in is the Ford as the others have awesome systems.

I have a very nice GPS in mine as well, but I choose Waze over it every day of the week. I drive so much and really appreciate the crowdsourced alerts, they are amazing and every time I switch back to a regular GPS or app I feel severely handicapped.

Audi gets it's traffic information from Sirius and it seems to be spot-on for me. Have yet to get caught in something that it hasn't alerted me of. I know what you mean though.

Waze has a lot of extras. One in particular that I love is the crowdsourced police speed trap alerts, I'm in NJ and revenue generation is insane here. Traffic alerts are also more up to date than a traditional GPS which relies on traffic reports as the crowdsourcing really makes them instant alerts. Traditional GPS really is kind of antiquated IMO.

Google maps adds Waze traffic reports. Wish they would also add the Waze camera and speed traps as well.

Yeah google maps is getting much better, but I doubt they will ever add police reports and risk being politically incorrect.

Would you be patient and wait for the S6 at least?

If the poster you quoted had a Note 4 and is replacing it with a 6+, chances are he/she is looking for a phablet sized device.

The S6 wouldn't fall into that category.

I'm interested to see what the S6 brings to the table, but my interest has more to do with how much of the S6 design/overhaul will be brought to the Note 5 later this year.

At this point, I'm entrenched fully in the 5.5"-size smartphone category. I'll keep my iP6 as my backup device, but I'll likely continue purchasing phablets from here on out.

I've been considering the Note 4 but I'm not a big fan of the design of the hardware and I'm really liking the OnePlus One I just got. So for now, the OPO will suffice as my Android device until we know more about the Note 5.

But to be fair, we don't know how tall the S6 is. That's why it's better to wait and see since it doesn't hurt to wait. The LG G3 is 5.5", so we could see a bigger S6 than anticipated.

All signs point to a 5.0" device....it's not going to be the same size as the Note - so I'm not sure what "surprise" could be waiting.

LG doesn't have an iconic phablet they sell. Samsung does.

Why? I have tried the S3, S4, Note 3, Note 4, HTC M8, Nexus 7 (tablet) and so far the best out of all those Android phones was the HTC M8 and my Nexus 7. But I am done, the interface has yet to improve enough to be smooth and stop with the lag bs.

He doesn't owe Samsung anything.

Think it's rumoured to be 5.2

It's not about owing a company anything. It's just me suggesting a future product so he does have more options. It doesn't hurt to hear about a potential toned down Touchwiz or get HTC's newer M9, which is pretty steady as a rock.

Galaxy Note 4

Got notice that my eBay / Paypal refund for the last Note 4 is in motion so I've gone ahead and re-ordered from elsewhere. Ordered a European unbranded unlocked Note 4. :)

Will keep ye posted when it arrives and the inevitable MRU Review will follow.
