Nope. I was flashing an official firmware which doesn't effect Knox at all. Added to the fact the firmware I flashed was for the model / region version of my device means it was just a case of putting the firmware that would have been available to me on Kies before they stopped its rollout.

So yeah still 100% official and no warranty issues.

I just think it looks dated. Its not terrible but just stands ajar, especially when the rest of the apps are materialised.

I'm surprised you guys don't use SwiftKey. Especially now that is free. Or better yet, use Super SwiftKey on XDA. The devs added a tonne of custom themes. Here's my current favorite theme.

I have bought it, just don't like it or its placement of number characters etc.

I am currently fluctuating between Samsung & Google Keyboard. I prefer the aesthetics of Google bit the functionality of Samsung's keyboard. Predictive text and auto correction is fantastic on Samsung's keyboard compared to many of the others.

Must add.

Really enjoying lollipop on the Note 4. Everything is starting to feel gelled together and finally the aesthetic coherence long since forgotten in touchwiz is starting to be fixed properly. There are still traces of half design as we're demoed on the S6 launch event. I hope these will find their way into the Note 4's lollipop stock apps sooner rather than later and it truly will offer a coherently designed experience.

Still wish the icons would get a face lift, the phone icon on particular looks archaic now, even in its flatter incarnation.

Battery life has surprisingly settled down very quickly since my update to lollipop and the device is giving me same battery as kit kat.

Save yourself the torture and slap on Nova launcher and an icon pack. I personally switch between about 5 different packs according to the type of wallpaper I use. Touchwiz runs so smooth for me, so this is as far as my customisation will be going from here on. No need for custom Roms or even rooting for Xposed modules. Absolutely love this phone.

^ to me Nova is getting very archaic now too. The whole interface and GUI needs a complete overhaul. The way you have to dive down into settings menus to create simple folders for the app drawer and such is all so messy by today's standards. It feels to me in many ways Nova has become bloated by new features added on top of out of date legacy infrastructure. It too needs a rethink about how it offers its GUI and customization to its users. It feels & acts very Gingerbread despite pretending to emulate the look of Lollipop.

-------
Regarding Note 4 camera. 4k video recording results are very nice on it. Probably the best 4k recording of any of the myriad of devices I've had that shoot 4k. Battery life takes a hammering when shooting 4k though.

------
Regarding battery life well I've been on battery 20hrs21mins, I'm down to 5% battery and have 5hr02min on screen time.

That's pretty good going all round.

You'd have to detail what you were doing for those five hours of screen on time, because a 6+ could double that battery life if we're just going on figures alone.

I'm not turning this thread into an iPhone 6+ v a Note 4 competition. I have a 6+, I like my 6+ a heck of a lot - but this is a Note 4. I'll compare it where I think it's relevant in regards to my own preferences.

I'm have grown tired & weary of every thread been turned into an apple v somebody ... My Note 4 doesn't give a **** that I have a 6+ and my 6+ doesn't give a **** either - so why should I? Almost every thread in this subsection gets hijacked by someone who feels the need to get hyper defensive as if it's all one giant criticsiscm of them personally.

Well I don't roll that way thanks......

Based on what usage though? iphone has no widgets to speak of which I imagine could effect battery life.

It depends how you use your phone and how many notifications you get.

Bit as mentioned I could care less about battery life on the iPhone. Not a phone that interests me at all anymore. Doesn't have anything that would tempt me back.

Anyone using the Nokia Z launcher on the Note 4? I find it much more interesting and useful than the normal set of launchers out there.

Do you mean seeing the backlight ? If so - no you can't see any backlight on black screens.

I think he means the color shifting from one side to the other, if you look at the first picture the right side is bluer than the left.

As for it being a problem, I don't notice it on mine unless I look for it, and even then its slight. But I think that's more luck of the draw and some people got ones that were really bad. Its like when people complain about light bleed on LCDs, some panels are worse and some are better.

Oh right. Didn't know that this was a known issue. Thankfully mine doesn't suffer from that.

Yeah, here you can see on mine that it's slightly greenish/yellow along the left edge where the browser back button is.

^ oh yeah. I wonder if this effects some variants more than others ?

I've been putting my Moto X 2014 running lollipop 5.0 and Note 4 running 5.0.1 through their paces today and it still amazes me (& frustrates in equal measure) that a device with 2gb ram and 801 processor can store more multiple apps at once in the background without needing to refresh content than a device with an 805 processor and 3gb ram.

Indeed with same 10 apps open my Note 4 stood at 2.2gb used of 2.7gb (yet even with 500mb supposedly free was refreshing app content)

My Moto X on the other hand was : 148mb system / 486mb apps / 1.2gb free and was not refreshing content.

So with same 10 apps open my Moto X runs at 1.5gb less memory overhead than the Note 4 .....

Even if the battery isn't lasting as long as on the 6+, I can easily swap for a freshly charged one.

The battery on the 6+ is amazing, I agree..but, for my purposes, I'm usually left with about 10% on the N4 around bedtime and also have an extra one in the external charger at any time.

That would annoy me! Luckily, my N4 (T-Mobile), is perfect! [ don't jinx it now ]

What are the best ways to improve battery life? In about 3.5 hrs, I lost 22% of battery with power saving mode enabled, about 30 minutes of Netflix streamed on chromecast, 22 minutes of screen time, wifi always on including when I lost signal, get only 4G in my area on 2 bars but no LTE that often. I would post the graph, but I am running a battery test with AnTuTu right now.

I typically get the cache to clear every hour. I still need to reorganize my widgets and my home screen. I don't keep GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, or any of those on. I use multiwindow on at all times, I hardly use my S-Pen, have a default background, use my phone moderately to heavy at times. Just not seeing the 2 day heavy use with a screen time of like 7 hours like some people. I use stock 4.4.4 with T-Mobile. Waiting for Lollipop.

Yeah, 7hrs screen time with 2 days heavy use seems far fetched. Most people I've seen get around 5-6hrs screen time. Remember a lot also depends on how well of a signal you have, if your in a place with crappy reception the radio will be cranked up and chew through battery. If battery life is a problem, you can always get an extended battery.

I will try to use my T-Mobile Wifi Cell Spot again once I configure it to work with my Comcast Gateway. I am using my iPhone 5C right now and I did the battery test. I'll upload the photo in a few. It is pretty astonishing too. I'll get my dad to test his Note 4 with my battery in a few days once he goes back to work during the week. Right now, my iPhone 5C is okay enough to get through the day, but I might want to buy myself a car charger w/ a lighting charger if I can get one for mad cheap lol. It's so ironic it's called a lightning charger when it takes 2-3 hrs with an iPad charger to charge my iPhone.

AnTuTu results. Analyze as you see it. Pretty sad, right? I mean I can show screenshots of my settings if need be?

My favorite feature of touchwiz has to be adapt sound. Love the way it creates a profile for your own ears based on frequency and tone you can and can't hear and applies that to audio to create fantastic audio experience.
