I am currently fluctuating between Samsung & Google Keyboard. I prefer the aesthetics of Google bit the functionality of Samsung's keyboard. Predictive text and auto correction is fantastic on Samsung's keyboard compared to many of the others.

Must add.

Really enjoying lollipop on the Note 4. Everything is starting to feel gelled together and finally the aesthetic coherence long since forgotten in touchwiz is starting to be fixed properly. There are still traces of half design as we're demoed on the S6 launch event. I hope these will find their way into the Note 4's lollipop stock apps sooner rather than later and it truly will offer a coherently designed experience.

Still wish the icons would get a face lift, the phone icon on particular looks archaic now, even in its flatter incarnation.

Battery life has surprisingly settled down very quickly since my update to lollipop and the device is giving me same battery as kit kat.

What version of the Note 4 do you have? T-Mobile? Just curious how you got Lollipop on it..i know it's out for some versions though..

I have an unbranded unlocked German Note 4 (DBT model) and as that was the territory they rolled out the soak test via Kies but it was since pulled by Samsung - i downloaded from SamMobile instead and flashed with ODIN. But because i had correct model for that firmware it means I could update to official firmware and not affect future OTA updates or warranty.

I had read that they have stopped the 5.0.1 rollout that I currently have a d look to be concentrating on 5.0.2 or 5.1 instead (hence the slow rollout) and the other thing I read was that the rollout slowdown was or is down to a problem with Samsung VR and they are awaiting a fix from Occulus.

With this same usage on my note 4 it would have had around 20% left. I have a ton better battery life left on 6plus without changing batteries.

You didn't have to face that issue that was talked about sometime ago that Samsung phones from other countries had to be used during a call for 5 minutes in order to unlock it for other regions?

Do you guys remember that? The region lock?

The Gear VR availability pushed me over the edge, I now have had every version of the Note...

The Note 4 will likely be the last Note with expandable memory and an easily swappable battery, if you're due for a contract renewal before the Note 5 launches, you'll love the 4...

What makes you think I needed to flash the firmware to unlock it ?

My device was a sim free unlocked note 4 from Germany. It was always unlocked for any network.

it has the German region code DBT because it is the model released in Germany. Samsung released lollipop in 1 country in Europe for the 910f and that happened to be Germany.

They did this only via Kies and only for about a week was it available.

I missed getting it on Kies, so downloaded it from SamMobile and flashed it via Odin.

Because I flashed official firmware - I didn't trip Knox and my region code still matches my firmware meaning I have no trouble with OTA updates going forward or warranty issues should it ever need repair.

I now have lollipop running and don't have to wait till they release whichever update to it they finally push out fully to users.

I hope the S6 DNA results in a slimmed down Note 5.

While I love the screen size and versatility, it is unwieldy in day to day handling.

To the extent that I am thinking about dumping it. After a few months of use, I've determined that phablets may not be right for my lifestyle.

I never fully understood that whole region lock that was mentioned some time ago. I thought it affected any phone from other country, whether it was unlocked or not.

Good to see you had no problems with that. I haven't seen anyone affected by it yet, so I don't know if it ever was an issue or not.

I would love to see Samsung make a 5.5 Note 5 with all the design of the S6 but without the SPen. So release 2 models one with the SPen one without. The one without would be slimmer and thinner.

It is compatible to my usage. And it doesn't last near as long period.

How do when they go against each other? Now here we go with the excuses. I owned both phones.
Well for one

Two hour music session in the gym would count as 2 hours usage on the iPhone. On the note it wouldn't.

I don't use my phone for music at all. Phone calls, web browsing, texting, facebook, videos, etc.

And even if I did, two hours of music on the note would count against it (against the app that was playing it),

Just found another reason to use the stock browser, fingerprint login to websites. Works like a charm. No more browser remembering passwords. I prefer this way as no one can login to my websites through remembered passwords. How did I miss this earlier? Lol

I'm only using that example as that's what only I can compare it to when I had an iPhone

On android playing music doesn't count as on screen time

What he means is that it wouldn't count it in Screen On Time.

WRT your screenshot, I easly get 8hours SOT/Usage with my Note 4 on Android 5.0, a slight jump from when I had KK.

So I'm not quite sure what your point is.

16 hours and 7 % left??? Lol

Image

You seem to be confused, that is 16hours with the phone actually being used for over 8hours, the screen was on for a total of over 8hours, take note I do use my phone for music with headphones and via BT in my car, that is not even counted by the Screen On Time.

Lol, 4hours of usage and already at 66%? Wtf? Your phone doesn't have a QHD Display, multiwindow multitasking, or a bunch of widgets constantly updating throughout the day, and you said you don't use it for music, it should be atleast at around +75%.
