Undstand about the bloatware. If camera and SD card are important to you the I recommend the N4. The N6 is also wider in the hand than the N4

Thanks @jamezr.

I'm guessing you feel the N4 is a better deal?

Also, anyone know if the AT&T version has been rooted?

I would choose a N4 over a N6 all day long. Just for the camera and SD card and form factor. It just feels better in the hand. The N6 is wider and feels awkward to me.

I don't think there is a root for the US N4 yet.

What about the N4 over S6? I ask because I know you've owned both.

I use the camera a lot and the N4 camera is sooo much better. Look up a little further in this thread I posted a picture of a baby bird my son and I found in the grass while exploring. Moto camera's historically are not very good. Then the N4 has a SD Card if that is of use to you. The N6 is a good phone but feels too wide in my hand compared to the N4. then add in price and the N4 is a great deal. The AT&T bloatware is horrible tough. :(

I own the N6 but I was asking about the S6; don't you have it or have owned it in the past?

AT&T bloatware is the deal breaker for me. Just not worth it.

DOH! Sorry HIDEF.
I loved the S6...but it was just too small for me. I like bigger phones like the N6 and N4 and IP6 Plus.
I would choose the S6 over the N4 if they were the same size.
The S6 has the best camera of any smartphone and blazing fast! Feels great in the hand too but just a little small for me.

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
So, after looking around I am going to:

Put on the Google Now launcher
Turn off the Samsung Magazine / Flipboard thing
Set the menu etc animations to 0 or 0.5
Disable S Voice via the homekey
Update to 5.1.1 as it's been released across regions now
Disable any Samsung apps I won't use
Install Chrome Browser and MX Player Pro

Along with all my games that should make for a nice fast device no? :)

Been keeping an eye on just Amazon UK and they had run out the other day, today they had 3 which is now 2 with more on the way, so people are buying them, hope their isn't a rush after tomorrow otherwise the price might not drop for a while?

Chrome browser will come pre-installed.

If you don't plan on using S-Voice at all you can actually just disable the app completely by hitting edit in the app drawer and hit the minus symbol. Stock apps won't be uninstalled but they will be disabled.

Google now launcher is not particularly optimised for it, icons look massive and the Samsung Dialer Icon looks god awful especially in a stock launcher.

I would recommend Nova Launcher which will give you more app icon size options and better grid layout for a phablet, and it will enable stock icons for messaging and Dialer in its look/appearance setting, which makes it look more stock that it actually does in Google Now ironically.

Also if you use Nova you don't need to change animation in developer mode at all. You can change animation speed directly in Nova settings as well as change the animation to a Lollipop slide up animation at same time.

I've used Nova before, but prefer the more stock launcher, but I will see which one fits best, try Nova first etc. Thanks for the tip. Didn't know you could now change animation speeds in Nova.

If it's been a while, you'll be pleased to see the changes Nova has made to its whole interface. It looks and behaves very stock but with lots more options :). They gave the whole app a big overhaul with lollipop.

Benefits of Nova include ability to have a dark theme for App drawer, far better on an Amoled screen.

These are from my Moto X 2014 pure edition.

anyone keeping their note 4 for another year? Thinking of doing this... nothing wrong with my day 1 release, just a little lag and some hiccups with 5.1 but overall a good phone.

I have a Note 4 and a Note Edge that I will continue using till something better comes along. I may end up buying the next Nexus this year.

I don't care about the SD card so much but I do like the fact that I have extra batteries for both of my phones and I just put a newly charged battery in each day instead of being tied to a charging cable.

Yep, I am. :)
Just waiting for 5.1 now, but still thoroughly enjoy using this beast almost a year later.

Lol selling mine, picked up a m9 for 250nib from a sprint employee thst wins phones by selling the most contracts lol, didn't know sprint does that.

Couldn't resist, I think I'm a fan of htc sense is smooth and fast and I really prefer it over TouchWiz.

Note 4 was fine but sprint and lollipop don't mix, poor battery, lag and so forth.

Bro, in the end it is all about what works for YOU. If the Note 4 wasn't cutting quite the way you wanted then you made the best decision.

Enjoy the M9, ever since HTC's last update to fix the heating I haven't read anything bad WRT the M9, seems to be a solid device.

Enjoy! :D

Also, anyone know if the AT&T version has been rooted?

A root exploit has been found for 4.4.4, but I wouldn't recommend anyone use it at this point. It's through a sketchy Chinese app called Kingroot which is collecting and sending some kind of encrypted data about your device. While someone has built a second app to replace Kingroot with SuperSU, Kingroot will have already sent at least your IMEI before you can remove it and replace it with SuperSU. Even after this you will only have temp root (lost after hard reboot) and still cannot install a custom ROM, only run apps which require root/use su in terminal/etc.

Not exactly what we want, but it has made people hopeful that the exploit Kingroot is using can be discovered and eventually used to gain permanent root.

Should note that if you have an AT&T N4 and have any hope of root in the future you probably want to stay on a version that can roll back to 4.4.4. That would be 5.0.1 C2 or C4. Newer revisions (C5 and C6) apparently cannot be rolled back to 4.4.4.

In general go for an unlocked T-Mobile version if you want root on AT&T. Most of the same LTE bands, but no locked bootloader.

I just updated my Note 4 to the latest 5.1.1 updated and boy does it make a difference.

So so smooth now. To me it feels even better and smoother than the S6.

The recent apps panel now opens instantaneously. So happy with this.

Don't see much changes apart from a slight design change in the notification panel.

I hope to get better cell reception now. It's been a nightmare lately with phone calls.

Very happy with the update. The phone feels so fast. Feels like new out of the box.

What carrier are you with? Call reception has been great on Verizon with my N5.
