So umm, how are people liking their Note 4's?

There is a brand, can't remember which one, that is making a screen protector (tempered glass) that has silicon OK the edges to feel the gap caused by the rounded screen. I'll probably get that once it comes out.

All the others one don't work for me, as having the edges uncovered annoys me and looks bad IMO.

The auto brightness wants to go way too dim for me, more like a battery saving feature unless I point it directly at a light source.

On one of the store models I tried after ticking the "Auto" box the slider became an auto brightness scale adjuster going from -5 to +5. On my AT&T model, which reports no updates available, checking auto doesn't do this (any attempt to move the slider turns auto off).

Anyone know about this? The models at the store had no carrier branding on the back and I'm assuming they were Verizon. Maybe just an update that hasn't hit AT&T yet? Either that or I'm missing something obvious in the options menu.

I thought I was going crazy but I think I remember the same thing. I could have sworn I was able to adjust the brightness while still in auto mode.

Pretty sure there was something similar when I got my Note 2. I didn't have that feature on my AT&T version. But when I updated to custom Touchwiz-based ROM I got it. I believe it was based on the international version. I got several other features AT&T cut out.

We also don't get Driving Mode--replaced by the crappy "DriveMode" app AT&T supplies.

Let's not forget being too cheap to give us the headphones.

If the Tmobile model works with AT&T's bands I might just return my AT&T version and get an unlocked TM.

That's crazy... How could AT&T believe that removing something like that improves the device? At least it's a standard feature in L, but who knows if AT&T will pull it then too? For now auto brightness is unusable for me, so I have to manually adjust when I change lighting environments. Not super convenient. I may have to consider the same if the bands line up and you can get them unlocked (T-Mobile version).

Google needs to do something about the carrier interference, but I get the feeling they can't due to the open nature of android.

No...I am not talking about the motorola of the past. I am talking about the motorola of the last few years. The moto x, for example, got an android update before a nexus once.

The old motorola sucked at updates...so did everyone one else.

Its a mater of taste.

I think the note 4 feels better than my 6 plus did. Yes it has "leather-like" plastic on the back...but it feels good, and the metal side feels great. More importantly...it is very sturdy...i don't worry about it in my skinny jeans...etc.

Leather on gagdets is a no. Just imagine a leather laptop. Thats how I feel about the note 4.

Yea I was starting to think the screen wasn't as great as people were saying. At night especially, it was just too dim. Changing to manual brightness at even a very low setting is 100x better to me.

What I have done, that "seems" to be helping was to turn off Auto Adjust Screen Tone in display settings. When I toggled it I could see the screen get whiter/brighter. I also changed the screen mode from Adaptive to AMOLED cinema.

I agree about the carrier interference. The amount of AT&T crapware is just ridiculous--with much of it trying to squeeze more money out of you. I went into the Mobile TV app and since there was no preview or channel listing of any kind, clicked activate--assuming there would be "something" describing what you get. Nope. Actually signed me up for the 7 day trial and I have to cancel. To add insult to injury the selection is truly embarrassing. Oh and you might think for $10 a month for such a lousy selection you would be able to use it without coming out of your data allotment. Forget it.

But it's not leather on the Note 4. They got rid of that awful fake stitching. That makes a huge difference in the look. So now it just feels grippy like it's meant to be. Like a DSLR grip. Do you call the grip on a DSLR leather and does it bother you?

I am not surprised. Do you think this would have ever happened with the iPhone launch?

I don't know ... the thing is the backorders didn't make sense but I suspect the order might have gotten cancelled because the credit card is going to expire soon (not until early next year though.)

The story goes, apparently the $200 iPhone 4 credit was only supposed to be for iPhone orders, but since they made a mistake they will still honor it. I preordered white but since they only have black in stock I plan on just getting black... I don't really care much about what color it is. Also my flip wallet case came in and its white, I'm reading that as I should just get my phone today too :D

Yeah, AT&T clearly removed it. Annoying but I'm not surprised.

Mine is off center as well.

Okay, interesting to know its just me. I tried exchanging at ATT they dont see it as something exchangable without the restocking fee....

Does it affect your photos? it doesnt seem to affect mine it just makes my OCD kick in.

1. Anyone know if the Note 4 perform better than Note3? Are there any noticeable differences? I really just want to make sure that it doesn't perform worst than the Note 3.

2. How much has Samsung changed the new version of Android with TouchWiz? Does it still look like Android or did they mess it up?

I guess you didn't see Samsung's new Chromebook. LOL

No effect on any of my photos or videos.

Anybody just use the fingerprint scanner when out? Been switching it off at home

I would like to do that too but is there an easy way to switch on and off?
I looked for a way to put it in the pull down panel but didn't see an option.

Let's put it this way, the performance ain't worse than the Note 3.
When you look at the gorgeous screen, nothing else will matter.
It's that good.

Got my Note 4! Traded in my iPhone 4 for the full amount, ended up going on 12 month Next with 30GB Mobile Share using the double promo til the 31st. Also got iPad mini LTE data package for 5.833333 per month due to 100$ credit. Deal!

Why? It’s a far greater feel than having just a metal back. It won’t slip out your hands like the iphone could be prone to be able to. That means far more when you are spending alot of money on a device. The back of the note 4 looks and feels great in the hand.

Drag down your notification center, click the settings tab at the top, then add the fingerprint scanner as one of your quick settings and you are right into the fingerprint scanner area. Only takes a matter of secs.

It has been alot snapper for me. Touchwiz is a big improvement coming from the note 3. So much that I’m using touchwiz and not nova launcher. You shouldn’t find any lag as it is quite instant in launching everything.

I'm going to trade in my old phone to Best Buy tomorrow for my VZW Note4. They give me 14 days to try it out. Anyone know what happens if I change my mind? What happens with my old phone I trade in? What would I get instead of the phone assuming it is no longer available when I return the Note4? Anyone know how this works?

Just FYI for those on the fence and wondering if it's a waste to go to the higher resolution screen. I know many say they can't notice a difference, I can't say I really notice much of a difference either except in how much I can fit on screen. The best example is GPS apps, you can fit a LOT more of the map in the screen now, you can literally get as much info on screen as a tablet. Things are a bit smaller, but still very usable. Just thought this was a huge plus.

Add in a nice pair of the right lenses designed around mobile devices and you'll see a whole new world. No line progressives targeted to be everyday lenses but add a little extra plus power for nearer use than typical reading zones. PM me if you have questions.

Another one of those things that AT&T decided to remove...i don't see it in my quick settings...

I can't find Fingerprint as a quick setting option in any reviews. Interesting if that is there--why AT&T would remove that one is odd (again).

These are the quick settings options, and associated apps if applicable, that I know AT&T has removed:

  • Download booster (Lets you use mobile data and wifi to download.)
  • Mobile data toggle (Seriously, AT&T??)
  • Mobile hotspot (Replaced by an AT&T "app" that does nothing but take you to the Mobile hotspot page in Settings app.)
  • Car mode ("Replaced" by the near-useless AT&T DriveMode app.)

The T-Mobile Note 4 is looking better and better (with its unlocked bootloader of course).
