1. Anyone know if Foxfi works on the VZW N4?
2. I actually liked the folder look on the N3 better. Is there a way to get that back?
3. Now that the left button brings up open apps, how do you access menu options that were there previously?
4. The screen looks great, though so did the N3. If I want to see the difference between the N3 and the N4 screens, can someone recommend a particular app, photo or video to truly see how much better the N4 screen is?

Thanks.

3. There is a option box similar to old left button at the top right hand corner in most applications for menu options

I am contemplating getting a note 4 instead of the iPhone 6. My main concern is ease of use with my iMac. Does OS X treat any android phone as an external drive when connected to USB? I am mainly concerned about my photos. Does iPhoto launch automatically to import any pictures as if you connected any point and shoot camera? I never had an android phone before and I'm really hesitating on getting one, but the note 4 is so nice.

Mac + Android works no problem for me. I use Android File Transfer and have it set to open automatically when I connect my Note 2 with USB. I then get drag and drop access to all files just like on my PC, very fast and smooth no probs at all.

I don't think you can set iPhoto to recognise the phone as a camera and open import automatically, I just tried it but couldn't see a way to do it. I just pull my phone's photo folder to a new folder on the Mac and then import that into iPhoto.

My biggest concern when getting a Mac was messaging from my Note 2 via the computer, which I could do with PC using PushBullet or MightyText. This is also not a problem on Mac. I am currently beta testing the MightyText Mac app and it works very smoothly, with quick reply notifications and everything.

If you want to wifi transfer files from Android to Mac you can use WiFi File Transfer Pro to quickly access your Android phone's files via a browser on the Mac, I use this a lot too.

I agree it lags in Safari while loading. But once loaded, there is no lag. That is not the case on the Note 4. It lags after being loaded. I'm seeing this on a lot of sites. The lag varies. I don't see it when scrolling slow usually. When I give a slight flick to scroll, that's where I usually see it. It will start going fine and then stutter once or twice as the scroll comes to a stop. I can't imagine that being normal. I've thought about a hard reset to see if that changes things.

Using uc browser - no lag at all.

Not on my Air. If I scroll from top to bottom even after the site has loaded all the way, it halts several times and greys out while reloading at least twice. This is one motherf**** of a site.

True in all aspects. ..my iPad Air refresh rate goes haywire too on the site

I just tried this website http://www.cnet.com/how-to/how-to-fix-apples-imessage-bug/. It had horrible lag with chrome. Surprisingly Firefox had the least lag. I had zero lag on my iPad Air 1. This is definately not the experience I was hoping for.

Didn't have any lag on Chrome or Firefox.

Being that said:
I've noticed most websites that force you to the mobile version, even though you selected "request desktop site", usually have lag if not already cached.

Download a free app called Picseed Wallpapers. Then, hold down your home screen and click "Wallpapers". Choose Picseed. Choose a category (ex: Nature), then look for the "Ultra HD" folders. Enjoy :)

That's the other method besides using the top right hand corner option which is much easier in my opinion

Not always. Take Google Now, for instance. To get to the on-screen menu button you have to scroll all the way to the bottom (wtf Google??). Long-pressing recents brings it up faster and without all that scrolling.

That said I wish there was an option to disable the long-press for menu on the recents button. I'd like to disable it to see if it speeds up bring up the app switcher.

I use AirDroid for both text and wifi file transfer. It also shows all of the phone's notifications (among other features such as find my phone).

You don't even have to have the Airdroid app running on the phone. It remotely starts it. Better yet, you don't even need to be on WiFi--or the same WiFi as the phone. So if, say, you left your phone at work you could get into it from home to check texts, missed calls, etc.

I once left my phone at work where I could not get into it for a weekend. I used Airdroid to check on texts. I then had AT&T forward my voice calls to a backup phone. AT&T insisted on sending a code via SMS message to my current phone to do that. I was able to use AirDroid to retrieve the code and enabling the call forwarding.

I'm confused.

I don't remember that menu option being on all apps previously, was it there? Is this a universal Android thing? I always used the left button on the N3. Did Samsung remove it based on the way Android is supposed to work? OR did they just decide to remove it and the button in the upper left hand corner was always there or just was added by Android, etc.?

The menu has not been a requirement for Android device for going on 3 years now.

But, yes, it was still there on the Note 3 but on the Note 4 it is recent apps (and menu on a long-press). It is the same on the S5--and I believe it started with a tablet back in winter.

I think one of the reasons Samsung kept it around was because some of the TouchWiz apps didn't have the on-screen menu option. I think it might still be possible to come across an old app that doesn't have it.

I switch a lot of phones and use iPhones and Android phones.

Use (free download) Android File Transfer (AFT) and install it on your Mac. It will let you use your Android phones as an external hard drive. You can drag and drop files and create new folders and such.

Use iSyncr to sync all of your iTunes music..playlists movies to your Android phone.

Use Dropbox......to sync all of your photos to the Dropbox. It is free and you will get 50GB of free space with a Samsung phone.

iPhoto will not pop up with an Android phone. Only with Apple devices....

Hope this helps!~ :)

I disagree.....it works quite well......the programs I use are cross platform and work quite well.

I am not saying it doesn't work. It just does not work well. Even you had to list several different programs above. That is what I mean.

Android with Windows works much smoother. You don't even have to have the phone plugged in. You can do backups easily and fully with androids etc. Flash ROMS easily. Back up all you app data easily. Music/picture syncing is much easier. It is just easier. Of course this makes sense. Why would Apple want to make their computers work seamlessly with an Android device? They have little to no incentive to do so.

We all have different experiences. I do this quite a lot between platforms. It work rather well. Except the flashing of ROMS.....I always do that on a windows VM on my iMac. But everything else is seamless. I have everything syncing between my iPad...iMac...MBP....Android phones....iPhone.
Google for calendar and contacts...one central location. Syncs across all my devices. Dropbox client on my Apple devices and Android phones....works seamless.......syncs all of my photos and they are available in all devices.
Dropbox can also serve as a data repository....not just for photos.
Different experiences. No one way is the right way............
The system I have works great and is very low maintenance.

Are there any issues with using old micro usb chargers with the Note4?

So far I'm not getting the quick charge that the new plug is supposed to provide. Do you need to do something to make it charge quickly?

Yes it absolutely only works with the new charger.

The new charger is capable of increasing voltage to 9 volts and up to 1.67 amps for a total of 15 watts. It can then scale back to the standard 5 volts at up to 2 amps.

Old chargers only charge at 5 volts at up to 2 amps or less. So you will never get the fast charging speeds out of one.

I was more worried about the other way around: using the new charger on an older device. Doesn't seem to be an issue though. The Note 4, apparently, "tells" the new charger to use 9v--if adaptive charging is on of course. By default the new charger will only charge at 5v.

Is Message plus Samsung's message app? Just curious because it asked me permissions prior to using it, just seemed strange for a stock app to be doing that.

Before I start using it, are there any other messaging apps I should look into?

Samsung's SMS app is just "Messages."

Verizon, I think, includes an app called something like Messages/Messaging Plus. Do you have Verizon N4?

I've had weird experiences with mine and chargers. My Note 3 was picky, it needed those wires shorted in the USB cable in order to detect it. I had a Lenovo USB cable which also had fast charging and it worked fine with my NOte 3, but does NOT work on my Note 4. I also had a cheapie cable I jumped the wires on and it works with both the N3 and N4, but it doesn't trigger the adaptive charge.

Are the N4 USB cables special in any way? Or are they simply cables with the 2 wires jumped like the Note 3 USB cable was? I don't want to put my phone at risk and was not sure if an aftermarket cable would hurt it or not work.

Kinda sucks, Samsung doesn't have any chargers on it's website yet to buy.

The flip wallet case is nice (non LED). It has a magnet to turn the screen on and off automatically as you open and close it. It is fairly protective and hard too. I got white... looks clean! (with Charcoal Black Note 4)

One annoyance on my AT&T device is that I can't select which apps specifically use one handed mode... it's all or nothing, which means if I want dialer and calculator I also need keyboard, which I DON'T want! I want calculator and dialer to be one handed, but keyboard to be full size! I like the new keyboard I'm actually using it over SwiftKey right now.
