There are numerous posts about how bad the camera on the Note 4 is. Maybe you're just fine with its shortcomings but I wasn't. The only time it takes good pics is in bright sunlight. Any indoor pics are up in the air as far as clarity goes. Don't be ignorant and call me a liar.
But the people on this forum that have the Note 4 disagree with you. So if you have blurry shots from your camera then that is not the normal experience.
I think you have a defective camera.

Yeah I'm getting blur, I'm also getting a lot of graininess in just moderate darkness.

Look at the pic below, the room was fairly well lit by a floor lamp about 2 feet away, a crap ton of xmas lights and a xmas tree. I stood perfectly still. Most of my xmas pics that night turned out like this, not as much blur but all of them had that graininess. These were taken at the maximum Note 4 resolution. My wife took pics with her ip6 in the same room and they came out decent, some were a bit dark but none had that graininess.

Take your phone back and get it replaced, Mine takes perfectly sharp shots under similar lighting conditions. I saw a thread on Android Central about focus issues on some Note 4's, must be a faulty batch.

This is the 3rd one I've owned, 2 AT&T models, and this one is a Tmobile model, all same thing. It is possible I got 3 bad ones though. The first one had reception and GPS issues and went back as a warranty replacement.

I also get focus issues when taking macro shots, say 3-4 inches away. It will focus perfectly so I know it's physically capable of taking the picture, then go out of focus, and just sit there alternating between the 2 making it impossible to take the picture.

The blur is your child moving.... That's normal. Did you upload the pic from Tapatalk or similar app? Those types or forum apps will compress the image and cause graininess and noise.

I took a ton of Christmas pics and they all came out better than the one you posted.

I am sure there are exceptions but generally the N4 camera is regarded very highly.

Look closely, my child was not moving that much or that fast, neither was my sister in law who is also blurred. Also how can you find that level of graininess anywhere near acceptable? How in the hell is that picture in any way, shape or form "normal"?

I'm willing to believe I have a defective camera, heck I'm even willing believe I had 3 note 4's and they all had defective cameras. But I'm not willing to believe that picture is normal, or the rest of my xmas pictures.

The pic was uploaded from my OneDrive account uncompressed, I have no idea what this forum does to the pics when uploading them. The pic looks about the same on the forums as it does on my phone.

Just to clarify I love my Note 4, I love it over my ip6+ any day of the week. I believe the Note 4 is a much superior phone to the ip6+. I'm just posting up my results with pictures.

First thing..... Where did I say anything like you said? Where did I say that was an acceptable pic? Because that pic turned out bad for you...... Does not mean others have had the same experience. I posted one just a while ago that was pretty darn good in low light.
You could have defective camera.

Damb that sux mate. I would not be happy if my Note 4 was taking shots like the one you posted. I guess im very lucky with electronic devices, ive never really had a defective unit while some people get the same phone replaced 3 or 4 times just to find a good one. Luck of the draw i guess.

Also the blurriness is unacceptable but the grain in low light shots is perfectly normal. I have a a Nikon D5200 Digital SLR and even it has some grain in low light shots. Have you tried manually lowering the ISO setting when in low light situations to cut down the grain?

Having problems with my Note 4 camera. Images are blurry due to extremely long focus times. 20-40 seconds for the focus to work.

It really sucks.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've played a bit with the ISO settings, but I'm too much of a camera noob to really get into it. I like a camera that just works as we switched rooms a lot and the lighting is different in every room.

Just for the record the room wasn't really dark, at least I wouldn't consider it "dark". The floor lamp 2 feet away had a 100watt bulb in it. I had a 7 foot xmas tree covered in lights about 6 feet away. The fireplace and some of the room was covered in xmas lights as well. The hallway light was on about 8 feet away. But for some reason in the pics it "looks" darker than it actually is in the room.

As for the graininess, I'll post up some of my wife's pics from the iPhone 6 in the same room. I don't remember seeing graininess there, but I will look closer as I didn't zoom into them and it's possible they were grainy also.

Here is a shot in very low light conditions that i just took. Only a 10w lamp is on in a dark room. Notice there is considerable grain but everything is in focus.

Here is a picture with a 100watt floor lamp in front of the subject. zooming in I still see some graininess and I'm not sure what the term is for the kind of banding/color gradient I see, mostly on the skin surfaces. Dunno, it just doesn't seem sharp or what I'd expect out of a 16M picture on a 2014 flagship. Pic is resized to 75% because the forum won't take a 4M picture.

The grain is normal, unless you are in a very bright room or outside you will get some grain due to the camera selecting a high iso setting, but your shot is also out of focus which makes things 10x worse. The note 4 has a very short focal lenth due to its wide apature so you need to make sure it is focusing on your main subject.

I usually tap my finger on the subject so it will center the focus there. The focus is a bit slow so maybe that's the issue, sometimes I find myself standing there for 3 or 4 seconds before it focuses and even then it will lose focus if I wait too long.

I'll have to see some pics from my wifes phone to compare the graininess. I don't know if I agree with that amount of graininess being normal in front of a 100 watt lamp. I mean I don't understand about the light, her face in the picture is directly lit up from the karaoke machine, how much light do I need to get a sharp picture?

Here is an older pic my wife took with an iPhone 5, it's at night and the only lighting is the overhead lamp of the car. It's MUCH darker in this pic, but I don't see the massive graininess of the other pics. No flash was used.

I can still see grain in that picture. However it does have better focus then your note 4 shots. The iphone is known to have better low light performance probably due to a better grain filter being applied.

I don't see any grain, certainly not compared to the other pictures. Put them side by side, there is a significant difference between the two in terms of grain.

They both handle grain differently, the iPhone obviously has a better filter applied to clean up the grain. However i can still see some grain and artefacts from the filter blurring the grain on the iPhone shot. I know the Note 4 over sharpens pictures with leads to increased grain also. If low light performance is your priority then the iPhone may be a better choice for you. In full light i know my Note 4 takes shots that are as good if not better then a ip6+ and most reviews put the two cameras on par. check out the link below.

The Note 4 takes much better daylight shots, I definitely agree. I'm in a quandary because I MUCH prefer the Note 4 in almost every other aspect. I own both, but I'd rather not have to carry them both around lol. I just swap sims every now and then when I get bored.

I have noticed the same thing on my iPhone 6+. I think it's because the shutter is staying open longer to allow more light in and relying on OIS to keep the camera steady. Works great when taking pictures of objects, not so much on people who are moving. This is an extreme sample, but it has been harder getting clean shots than with my iPhone 6 or HTC One without OIS.

Low light pictures look good on mine using back camera. The image is a bit softer compared to bright light. The only issue is blur shot when there is movement in low light. But the front camera is very grainy in low light.
