For anyone missing the SD card reader, I found this on amazon. Seems like a pretty good otg solution if you want to have a lot of media with you or need to clear up space to take more pictures or videos. Will post more details after I have received mine.

Idk if I'm still in the tinkering phase of this Note 5 but I am not satisfied with this battery life...

I'm feeling the same way. Some are getting great SOT time's but I'm not. I have packages disabled and I greenify certain apps but I'm only hitting around 3.5--sometimes 4--hrs of SOT compared to some who reach 5 to 6hrs.

The one wakelock I have is my cell standby but I don't want to disable VoLTE or Wifi calling.

Yeah I just feel like I can be getting better battery stats with my usage. Yeah I heard those a battery killers when it comes to T-Mobile. I hate to have to disable VoLTE on my AT&T device because I hate disabling things that shouldnt have to be disabled. I just have a real problem with that.

I can't see what your talking about.

If color banding is a real issue....wouldn't it be noted by reviewers? The display is currently regarded as the best in the mobile industry.
I know it was pointed out to you a post later, but the reason you don't see this stuff come up in reviews is because it was so blatantly obvious and you missed it. Same thing happens in reviews. I can still see the grain of the PenTile display even though the resolution is high and I still don't like it, but no reviews mention that either, do they?

White shows up with a hint of blue, but no reviews mention that either, do they?

I have been begging for uniform sub pixels on AMOLED displays and have been frustrated ever since the NOTE 2 when Samsung showed they were clearly capable.

If it was a system wide thing the first image posted would have the banding on the Note 5 display too when looking at this thread through it - if it doesn't then yep its simply a specific app issue - perhaps the app is using a lower 16bit rather than 24-32bit colour profile.
I have heard this apologetic response before, just see you know, YouTube is another one of those 'apps' that have this issue.

I have a feeling this is either a Samsung configuration issue or an Android configuration issue.

I have also seen this on the Nexus 7. (The difference with the Nexus 7 being if I did a screenshot, it looked fine and I needed a Camera)

Regardless, if it is a (multiple) app issue, it's just one more reason Android is not ready. Small things like that really detract majorly from the user experience. I'm not willing to go back to weird crap like that.

Whoa...someone seems unreasonably agitated.

"Blatantly obvious and you missed it". Really? Sorry bud, but that is got to be the most ridiculous statement I have seen in a while. I personally don't see it, and while I am not trying to question your vision, no one else mentioned it either. The disadvantages of a Pentile display was well documented before, when it was visible at lower resolutions. Now, high end reviewers like Andantech, Aris Technica, etc have nothing but praise for the display. Same goes for displaymate (or whatever). Again, I hate to question your vision, but none of the qualified reviewers see what you see.

What you just said is similar to saying "I think this way, thus everyone one else must be wrong, or they would agree with me". Sorry, but in this case, I am afraid you may be wrong.

Doesn't samsung use a diamond pixel matrix now as well, compared to the old style of pen tile?

Displaymate rated this display as the most accurate display to date. As such, your perceived color inaccuracies may be your own, inaccurate personal preferences.

Again I don't see this in other apps, including youtube. Android is a mature, great looking OS now. At this point, its time for people to admit that, and just pick their preference. No use for "blatantly" biased post.

You don't see me trashing the trolling the iPhone forum, just because I picked a different OS this generation, do you?

Finally saw it in person today.

Gorgeous phone. AMAZING display. Feels great in the hand (I asked the rep to let me handle a real one without the security latch). Very impressive; the most impressive Note I've seen. Downsizing it to make it more portable and easier to handle is a great move from Samsung (waterproofing be damned).

I will hold out to see the Moto X, new Nexus 5, and/or possibly even the iPhone 6S before I make any moves. But the temptation is great.

I don't have my Note 5 yet (should be here this week) so my response is clear - if it's a system wide issue then the first image you posted without banding would also appear 'with' banding when you looked at it either in a browser or app like tapatalk.

I've checked on my S6 Edge and it doesn't have the banding on the first image. However the S6E is not a Note 5 so I can't say for certain. But if you look yourself at the images you posted in your browser on the Note 5, does both images have banding ? If only the bottom one does - it would mean that it's likely APP related to Tetris rather than a system wide issue or problem with your device.

This is certainly not an 'apologetic' response .... Its basically trying to work out whether the issue you have on your note 5 is app related or replicable through the OS and by other users.

Its in Youtube, it is where I first saw it. I do believe you haven't seen it yet. You can call it ridiculous, but it's pretty glaring. Believe me, I wish I didn't notice either.

Diamond Matrix is still Pentile and the display is fundamentally incapable of drawing a straight line, which makes things like grain, persist.

I am not bashing simply to bash. I looked forward to getting this phone as a legitimate alternative. Admittedly I was considering a smaller screen, but the Note would be a good test device. I've not been completely pleased with my phone since iOS6. Apple's push to 'keep up' came with animation performance and smoothness costs....one of the reasons I left Android to begin with.

If Displaymate rated the Note 5 as the most accurate mobile display then I have no trust in them and neither should you. It clearly has a blue tint. If theirs didn't they must have received a cherry picked sample.

(I didn't mean to jump you so hard, its just frustrating, I know I can't be the only one that notices, and there's no way everyone is really this oblivious.)

In reference to the banding: I haven't noticed it on my device but now that it's been brought up, I'll keep an eye out for it.

Returned my note 5 today, couldn't go past 3-4pm without the phone dying. Back to my 6 plus, waiting for the 6s plus!

Guys, I have actually done the same, went back to my 6 Plus. Note 5 was a great device but I couldn't get past the battery life and disabling features that shouldn't be disabled on a smartphone. I will stick with iOS for awhile and I will see what the new Nexus devices are like once they are released.

No joke, I saw it in the first 3 apps I tried: YouTube, Tetris & NorthstarMLS.

I see zero banding in youtube and enjoy watching 4k videos

The banding in tetris has nothing to do with Android,Samsung, amoled or diamond pixels.its 100% the apps developers fault for using cheap ass 8bit or maybe 16bit compressed maps that were most likely ported right over from the ios version and having the higher resolution screen really brings out the crappy quality in the bit maps they used.

Here is a moto gp 4k clip screen shot...it looks amazing in motion! I just took a screen shot while it was playing and a simple single frame is 5mb lol thank god for my unlimited data plan

Sorry to hear that Tee00max. I know you gave it a great shot. Look forward to reading your thoughts on the 6s Plus! :)

Yeah I did man and to tell you the truth I really missed the integration with my Macbook I bought earlier this year. Im thinking I may stick this 6 Plus out for a little while longer. Not sure if I am going to preorder the 6S Plus on release day, still deciding.

I switch back and forth between may favorite Android phone (currently the Note 5) and my 6 Plus. I get to missing my iphone so just swap sims. I hear ya about the integration into the apple ecosystem. I have all Macs in my house with a Windows VM on my iMac.
