That is bloody great, us Irish are a talented lot though!

As a matter of interest how long did it take you to do that?

Timed via TV that was on in the background. Basically partway between Celebrity Fifteen to One and The Last Leg and the whole of 8 out of 10 cats :D oh and in Irish fashion 2 sups of tea a slice of barn brack and a chocolate kimberley :D lol

So I'd guesstimate about 95 mins - 120 mins

Surprisingly I'm still at 50% battery with 13 hours on battery and 3 hours of SOT. Great considering art flow is quite cpu intensive.

Lol, thanks. Nah just ArtFlow - it's a really great app on Android but kinda niche. It has a ton of brushes and medium types and can work multiple layers and export as a PSD file for moving file to photoshop or corel painter to work on / continue on your Mac.

My three main apps on Android for drawing / painting are

ArtFlow, Corel Painter Mobile & Sketchbook Pro.

It cost a good chunk of money to unlock all the apps so that they have full set of brushes and such but to me it was worth it.

@MRU

That sketch is extremely impressive, it looks like an image taken with a filter on top of it.

Have you ever owned a Surface Pro? It would be great for these kinds of things, I have one for school but my drawing abilities max out at stick men and simple diagrams.

I think the Note 5 combined with a Surface would be the ultimate combination in terms of productivity.

Yep. I bought a surface pro 2 for drawing but was really unimpressed with the end experience in two ways.

1. It had bad pen edge shift towards the sides/edges of the screen meaning the accuracy really dropped on those. Literally the pen accuracy goes out by upto 5mm on the edges of the device.

2. Windows third party apps like Sketchbook Pro and Painter are not HiDpi ready. Meaning they are unusable in default 200 dpi mode so you have to drop down to 100-125% scaling to stop them looking a mess. The problem is as soon as you do that everything looks tiny and menus are very small. With them being very small and the issue of edge shift of the pen towards sides it meant just navigating up and trying interact with menus was a pain in the ass.

I sold it and bought a Note 12.2 instead and it performed far better and corel painter mobile and Sketchbook pro performed better on it than on the more powerful Surface pro 2.

Haven't tried Surface pro 3 since they moved from Wacom to Ntrig pen.

The edge accuracy was typical of Wacom digitizers, the Surface Pro 3 doesn't have that issue anymore as a result of the N-Trig switch although Windows is still horrible with DPI and high resolution displays.

Does the Note 5 have any issues with accuracy on the very edges of the screen? Since I utilize One Note extensively and all my notes are saved to the cloud, editing on the go would be a breeze on the Note 5 although I'm not sure how productive I could be on a 5.7 inch screen.

I have a Cintiq 24 and it has no issues with edge accuracy. Had Cintiq 12 previously. No issue.

Note 3/4 & 5 no issues.

The only device I have experienced poor edge accuracy was the surface pro 2

No problem with multiple layers and different brush types / digital mediums such as gouache / chalk and pencil .... it's a little fiddly on smaller screen compared to the Note pro 12.2 for example but still very workable though lot more zooming into canvas required.

Really like having my art programmes on the spen menu so I don't need them on my homescreen

Yeah, I've wondered why in reviews they insisted on putting things like chrome or Facebook on there, it's a lot easier to just hit the home button and select the app than pulling out the spen. Putting spen apps there makes a lot more sense.

Btw, awesome sketch of your dog, this is the best I could muster. Not quite on the same level, but still fun.

So does the Note 5 have the app-refreshing issue that plagued certain S6's?
Yes it still can't keep as many apps in memory as say a Nexus 6, however the extra 1gb has made enough of a difference that your no longer constantly plagued by it anymore.

I can generally use my most used apps and not suffer from it; compared to the edge where it plagued me too.

It's a lot better definitely, but does feel like it is by sheer brute force rather than any optimisation in this regard. There's still room for improvement but it's far less troublesome generally because of the extra ram.

_______

Just realised with a Google search the "agressive ram" that everyone refers to seems have only come about from the title of my Edge thread on XDA. The thread that tech sources based their articles upon, reporting on it subsequently they latched onto 'agressive ram' in its title and since its simply and commonly referred to it as such not just by the media but now end users affected. The similar joint S6 thread at same time we broke this issue open never referred to it as such, it was simply called S6 ram problems. My point is ...

I appear to have inadvertantly coined a phrase that has entered the popular zeitgeist.

Windows is actually really good at DPI on high resolution monitors, I'm thoroughly impressed with windows 10. DPI on a 28' 4K monitor works very well, and for the few programs it doesn't you just disable only that program from scaling and it will look right, but you lose a tiny bit of image quality/sharpness. On my 4k monitor almost everything scales up nicely. As a freaking awesome bonus you can scale things differently on different monitors connected to one PC. So you can tune the DPI on each monitor just how you like it.

It's not windows OS exactly that's the issue it is that many third party apps are not optimised and can actually break at 200% ui scaling.

Windows 10 looks great on my RMBP for example. :)

I'm still amazed though by how few HiDpi laptops there are on windows and it amazes me the majority of the laptops I looked at only on Wednesday last in PC world have 1376x768 screen resolutions ...

I'm waiting for the iPhone announcement next week before I decide whether to get the new iPhone or the note 5 or the S6 edge plus. If I get one of the sansungs phones I'll still keep my iPhone 6 plus.

I plan to get the 6S Plus and Moto x Style and will likely sell my 6 Plus, S6 Edge & my Moto X 2014 & Nexus 6 to cover buying the Note 5 and the other two outright, off contract :)

Yeah I noticed it too in reviews and thought it odd to stick those apps in there but I guess the reviewers are likely not much of stylus users and are just going through the motions when showing off the feature.

Great little doodle btw :) :)

Used Gumtree for first time the other day.sold my iPad air 2 for £300. Abit less than I wanted but will do
Never used it but have always been advised to sell if I do. To many horror stories from people who got burned buying.

Put the feelers out about a Note 5 whilst I wait to see what Apple and Google do. Three caveats: I want silver; I want 64gb; I'm in the UK. Had no positive replies yet.

I use Gumtree to sell stuff but very rarely would I buy from it.

I'm looking for another 2014 Moto X in black with either natural or red leather back and preferably silver accents. Don't suppose your one fits the bill.

Worst decision I made was selling mine a few weeks ago.

So you can put any apps of your choice in that S Pen menu?
