Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
OK so some questions on importing a Note 5. It seems I can only gentle 32gb White dual sim version from eglobal, I like the bluey black one also but they don't seem to sell that?
Anyway, I assume the dual sim version works perfectly well with one sim, and back with Samsungs software updates. How do you get those in the UK? I'm guessing Samsung won't push them out in the UK?

Also do all the software features work in the UK, as it wouldn't be a UK spec model. And do things like the GPS work in the UK, I use Waze when I need to in the car.

Does the dual Sim version have the same processor as the standard model, I ask as I understand their is a nether Note 5 with a different processor.

Also I need to check I would contact Samsung UK for any repairs? And does it get covered under European consumer laws and a 1 year guarantee?

Just want to cover all my bases. A lot depends on the new Nexus 5 price.

Hmmit seems their are multiple versions of the handset for different markets, but the cheapest models are from the Taiwan and Malaysian markets, I assume you can set them up in English and they work fine?

What network are you on in the UK? and what is the model number of the Note 5? your looking at and we can look to see if the phone is carrying the LTE bands you require and compatibility with LTE. 2G/3G/HGDSPA+ are not a problem - LTE can be.

Dual sim will work with one sim in fine,

updates are pushed out by Samsung - you will get the update as soon as its begins pushing it out for that specific territory model - you don't actually need to be in the country of origin to get it.

GPS, Wifi etc is all standardised.

---- OK so UK LTE bands are

Operators in UK
23px-Flag_of_the_United_Kingdom.svg.png
LTE Network Frequency
3 800, 1800
EE 1800, 2600
O2 800
Vodafone 800

So essentially unless your on EE you need 800 band - which rules out the SM-N9208 and leaves the N9200 as the option that supports your band (at least according to eGlobal. I'll check on xda shortly for confirmation)

Ok bit of research on Expansys.com

N9200 fine with LTE except on O2

Yeah o2 really could/should have operate on more than just 800 but I doubt they're bothered about importers too much.

I asked eGlobal weeks ago about 64gb variants and they were a bit vague with a 'not now but check again in a few weeks'. I've had blue/black S6s before so fancied a change. Initially i thought Silver but after seeing what a fingerprint mess the gold, silver, and blue/black become, I went with white. Had to order from a trusted ebayer instead to get 64gb (9208) and it'll be 5 days from order to delivery. Fortunately they marked it down a bit so the tax is low and will turn out notably less than if Samsung had released it here.

Just waiting for delivery mid-week. Whilst the odd TW stutter annoys me, I've missed split screen, fast charging, a reliable camera, and QHD sharpness with text. Note taking with the screen off is very useful for me.

Thank you MRU :)

I am on EE so that's just as well haha. At my home it flicks between 3G and EDGE, but in my area apart from that it's 3G or 4G I get.

I was looking at this one:

http://www.eglobalcentral.co.uk/sam...9208-4g-lte-32gb-sim-free-unlocked-white.html

Which from what I can tell is the dual sim variant N9208 version which is for the following markets:

XME – Malaysia SM-N9208
MYM – MYM SM-N9208
GLB – Philippines (Globe) SM-N9208
BRI – Taiwan SM-N9208

How quick does Samsung release it's updates for these markets?

Tbh Samsung update is pot luck. There is no rhyme or reason as to which gets the update released first. I've seen situations where Asia variants got update quicker than European and vice versa. Though they do seem to have speeded up rollouts lately.

Checking Sammobile I can see the SM-N9208 seems to get firmware updates quickly.

I've had Asian dual SIM Notes in the past. Usually smaller countries get it first before the bigger rollouts.

I had the Note 2 (7102) and 4 (n9100) China mainland variants mainland and they were slower than Taiwan and Hong Kong to get updates. Usually HK and the mainland get the same hardware with just ROMs being different - HK with Google, mainland without. In both cases I just flashed the HK rom which didn't trip Knox or anything and got updates way earlier. Taiwan tended to be earlier but not by much.

If you did get the N9200 it's almost guaranteed it's the HK edition. The mainland one is not cheaper anymore so less reason for them to be exported to HK and shipped on.

FWIW I'm getting the TW 9208 but I'm pretty sure if be able to flag other country stock ROMs without causing a Knox trip.

Thanks, the 9200 is £32 more expensive, but it's interesting about the Google Play store, so does the 9208 version come with the Google Play store?

Purchased a brand new Note 5 tonight. After seeing the screen in person and playing w/ it for a significant amount of time, I was sold.
Congrats! You also have a iphone right? The best of both worlds INMO.

My Note 5's speaker and headphone jack are bad. Both make static sounds in some songs. I think it's time to get rid of this one. Might want to get a surface tablet instead.

Great to know, thanks. And I'm guessing the phones from eglobal are unlocked sim free versions, not carrier versions. Also why is there a price difference between the different models?

Currency exchange rates / supplies etc.. Yeah all unlocked carrier free and no import duty. Don't pay for express shipping, it makes no difference indeed I ordered my Note 5 "after" couple friends bought oneplus two's and they went with express shipping and I received mine via standard shipping 3 days "before" them.

any Note 5 users experience having to reset/redo your security on your phone? i usually set my security to "pattern" when i have to unlock the phone after it times out. on occasion when i'm taking my phone out of my pocket and want to unlock it, rather than entering my "pattern" password it somehow gestures to just "tap/slide anywhere on screen" to unlock it; and when i look at my security settings it's set on "pattern".

Solved
apparently just a simple setting issue, when it was paired with my Samsung Gear; it bypassed the "pattern" security. odd that this didn't happen when it was paired with my old S4...

I am running version 3.4 with Arter kernel 5.0, and this baby flies, at warp speed, with incredible battery life 6h Screen On time :) :)

Few things I am running to help battery life, and make this a real beast, plus other tweaks;

Disable Application [ROOT]

Freeze / Disable all the BS Samsung apps, bloatware crapware, and stuff I will never use

Material Design Theme

Loving the "Light" theme, makes this phone look like a Nexus. I typically always run the Dark / Black themes, but I ran those too much with my Nexus 6 and OnePlus One, burned out on the black themes right now.

Well DHL have come done a good turn: left Taipei on Friday and turned up two days early today (9208 Dual sim 64gb white pearl).

First impressions: they nailed the ergonomics by adding the curves on the back and crushing the side bezels; screen off notes are very useful; and it's surprisingly light...or the OP2 was heavy.

I've had an S6 so know about the screen, camera and TW, which I don't mind at all. After toying with some mid-range+ devices, I think I will stock to flagships for a bit.
