Hoping the Note 6 is a Note 6 edge with an even bigger screen without a significant increase in phone size. This is the only phone on my radar in 2016 alongside the iPhone 7plus.

Can't wait to see what Samsung has in store with the Note 6! Considering how great the S7 is turning out to be the Note 6 should be a one killer phone!
[doublepost=1457095346][/doublepost]It looks like the Verizon Note 5 is getting Marshmallow today.
Verizon’s Galaxy Note 5 is Getting Its Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow Update

Version first? What has the world come too?

This means the note 5 is getting its first major OS update less then a year later, closer to six months after release. Despite the impatience of Android enthusiast, this is plenty fast. As I have mentioned before, Apple releases its major update yearly. I wouldn't be surprised if Samsung starts using the Galaxy S release date as it's yearly update role out.

Now, is this the fully updated touchwiz like we see in the s7, minus device specific features? I do hope Samsung will start keeping the UI up to date as well.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see no Edge + variant this year (why release a 5.7 & 5.5" device) - which opens up the prospect that Europe will at least be graced with the Note 6. Although I guess we just have to wait and see and certainly not count on it.

Carrier updates are such a joke and need to go away now. I like the idea of just releasing one model w/ all the hardware and one software variant; then carriers put their apps on the Play Store so people have the choice of what junk they want.

Agreed. Though it doesn't impact me, for example, you are left wondering what the hell T-Mobile was thinking with the s7/7edge. Why remove the whitepages feature, or the option to remove the app draw? It doesn't really affect me, since you can just download the white pages app (probably a better option, more frequent updates), and I use s third party launcher. But still....what the hell?

I know I read somewhere a month or so ago, that Samsung will bring the next Note phone to Europe

They'll probably have a 6"+ edge variant with the Note 6.

Yep, that's what I'm hoping for. Although honestly I won't be heartbroken if it isn't. It is looked on as a business, executive kind of phone so it's questionable whether they would do the edge treatment on it, and I don't think they sell enough to split the market with 2 Note models. I'm hoping they can squeeze a 5.9" screen into the form factor they currently have.

I still don't get Samsung's business decisions to keep some phones region specific. It just doesn't make too much sense outside of lack of sales. But I think the UK is a good hotbed for Samsung sales, so it wouldn't make sense to ignore our friends across the pond.

Putting an Edge like screen would make it look too much like a toy. The Note is a serious device, well that's how it's marketed.

Yeah I agree. While the edge thing is very cool, I think I'd rather have an entire flat screen with no bezels. The edge design seems like after the initial novelty wore off I'd probably end up disliking functionally.

Anyone get the Marshmallow update? Breaking news was that it is officially being released today, although no sign of it on my phone.

It was being pushed out to AT&T last Friday I believe. Haven't heard anything for TMO

I've been scouring the internet and android/xda forums, no one has it yet. I wonder if AT&T held it back for some reason. Friday was a mistake, 3/14 is the official date.

That date was just a rumor, not officially announced. And so far no one has gotten the update yet. I did find one who commented that a cs rep from AT&T told them it was coming out the 31st.

Yeah just based on a couple of different conversations with CS reps, which means squat at the end of the day.

Don't forget, there was a Note Edge last year along with the Note 4. This is my Note Edge. I liked it better than my Note 4. The edge panel was on the right and had a lot more functionality then the S7 Edge today.

I think they did a much better job with the Note Edge. The curved part was much steeper and more obvious to the touch, and they incorporated a lot of cool stuff to interact with it. I still would prefer a fully flat screen though, just eliminate the bezels completely. I don't see anything on the edge technology that wouldn't work on a non edge phone, and IMO you lose a little bit of real estate and view ability on the edge portions.

My thoughts exactly. I still like the S7 Edge. As it is now, the edge panel is really kind of pointless in my opinion. Sure you can get to contacts faster and bookmarks and a few apps but that's really about as useful as the edge panels are.
