My battery has been pretty good on my Note 4 its gets me through the day and then some. If i forget to charge over night then I can charge on my 30 minute commute to work or at my desk at work. But pretty much the N4 has been a beast as far as battery life. The N4 has a 3220 mAh battery so if the Note 5 has a 3000 mAh battery so hopefully the difference can be made up in the power efficiencies of the new technology in the N5. We will see very shortly! I really hope the N5 does not have battery life issues.
Yeah, the Note 4's battery has been good on mine, not as good as the iphone 6 Plus, but a close second. And I belive the battery on the S6 wasn't that bad for me, and standby time was actually very iphone like, so I don't think I'll have problems with it.

That being said, it would've been great had they been able to do a 4000mah as originally rumored.

What I expect them to do in the announcement of both the S6e + & Note 5 is gloss over the 3,000mAh battery and focus / extol the virtues of their 'powersaving' & 'ultra-powersaving' modes ....

That is to be expected if the N5 has a smaller battery then the N4

If the battery indeed turns out to be 3000 mAh, I'm guessing the battery life will be the same as the Note 4 due to a more efficient CPU and software improvements. I'll totally be ok with this if this indeed is the case. But of course I'm always happy to get more.

Not really sure the exynos is that more efficient than the snapdragon 805 ..

I think it would be safer if people temper their expectations and there would be less chance of being disappointed.

The fact they are apparently launching a Samsung external powerbrick cum wireless charger tomorrow too should make us at least cautious.

That being said I'm sure for anyone other than hungry power users they'll survive on the 3,000mah battery. At least I would hope so.

The Note 2 was the last killer battery life phone from Samsung IMO.

I've owned about 17 flagship smartphones over the past 5 to 6 years. And one of those was the ATT Note 2, running custom ROM's + Kernels, and that Note 2 was AMAZING on battery life, just the best. Out of those 17 phones, I will list my top three for best battery;

#1 = Note 2 - got like 8h Screen On time
#2 = iPhone 6 Plus - got like 7h to 7.5h Screen On time
#3 = OnePlus One - Kit Kat version only was getting like 6.5h to 7h Screen On time ( But the Lollipop update and ROM's are far worse than Kit Kat on the OPO, major drop in battery life, but the OnePlus on Kit Kat offered great battery )

Every other high end smartphone I owned, was only getting crap battery life in the 4h to 5h Screen On time or less. To me a smartphone needs to get at least 5.5h Screen On time to even be useful.

5.0 made my Note 4 battery life worse, but not deal-breaker worse. I'm still excited to get the next gen for the speed improvements/etc. I was definitely hoping for a UHD screen (I'm a resolution fiend) but definitely not if they keep making it thinner and with a smaller battery. Maybe next year...

I get 6-7hours Screen On Time with my Note 4 on Lollipop, if I watch series or movies on it then that can go up to 8-9hours, but that is rare.

I'd say the Note 4 overall gives great battery life.

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
Nothing of a surprise really but here is a poster for a shop advertising the new phones:

Would like some opinions. Looking to sell my Note 4. I want to sell for around $400 to buy the Note 5, I have an upgrade availability, so that should cover the cost of a 64GB model (assuming the pricing is similar to the 6 Plus), but so far the best deal I can find is $245 with gazelle, tried Craigslist but no takers, and all the other buy back places like at&t and best buy only offered $200. should I just continue and wait it out or just take the gazelle offer? Or maybe even keep it, but it'll probably just sit a drawer.

Edit- forgot to add, I would have to wait until I sell my Note 4 or wait until October to get the Note 5, with school starting and both my kids birthdays being this month as well as my wife's I'm short on funds at the moment to buy it.

You shouldn't have waited, prices will drop but then again with the new one not having SD or removable battery it may retain value. I would also guess that would sell fast as hell if you listed it at 275

What condition is it in? Is that affecting or reflecting the price offered. Likewise is it locked to a carrier? Can it be GSM unlocked?

Wow the note 4 is selling for less than 300 used now? It drops that much?

Didn't think it would drop so much. I should've figured it would've been difficult though, back in April I put it on Craigslist after I got my S6, after a month and a half of no offers I decided to keep it and traded the S6. That one I got a ton of offers, unfortunately because of my note not getting any interest I took the first offer I got.

For an extra $30 I don't think it worth it to me, I'd rather just send it off to gazelle and keep the fast charger to use with the new note. I'll lower it to $350 and see if I have any takers.

It's in pretty good shape. It does have some scuffs on the chamfered edges and hairline scratches on the glass that are only viewable with the screen off and at an angle. I have the box and all the accessories, it is locked to at&t, but I can unlock it at this point. There just doesn't seem to be much demand in this area.

And on gazelle and those other sites I checked perfect condition, while on my Craigslist listing I did list the scratches with pictures.

Here for example you would have no trouble selling it for €375-425 which would be $400-440 in good condition. You may even get higher which is why I'm shocked to see your getting offers of only $249!!! You would never get one for €249 here unless the screen was cracked and needed a replacement or such. Genuinely that sucks ...

Yeah, looking through the listings, there are a lot, though most priced between $400-$500. One thing I did notice though was one person had listed their Note for $299 about a month ago and relisted again at the same price earlier this week, so if that person is having trouble selling theirs at $299 I guess demand is just that low right now for the Note here.

Have you tried Swappa.com? Not only can you usually sell your device for a higher price, the fees are quite a bit less ($10 for selling and the usual paypal fees). Compared to ebay, they have a better reputation (clean imeis). At present, there are only a few selling for less than $400. Maybe, by adding some accessories, you could get a bit of a bump?

Being a Note 3 user, I was really looking forward to the Note 5. But, I constantly swap batteries. So, that's a disappointment, but because of fast charging, not a deal breaker. Believe it or not, the slimmer body just may be a plus? We'll see how it feels in the hand. If Samsung offers a 64gb model soon, and it's not terribly expensive, I would be okay with the sd card slot omission. Hopefully, some of the s pen improvements will be tempting. Also, I am interested in how the camera performs in real-world tests.

Since I am switching carriers (after 9 years, I am leaving ATT for Tmobile), I will have to wait a little while to upgrade (it will cost me $600-$800 to cut ties with ATT but will save over $1200 for the year). So, I will be reading the ensuing posts for some hands on experiences. Can't wait.

An added thought, the price of Samsung's flagships is going to be a barrier to getting more mainstream customers on board. Yes, Apple has been able to get away with it, but they are the only one to make ios devices. However, Apple isn't immune to consumer's reluctance to paying these high prices; the iPhone 6s will not come close to selling as much as the 6 and 6 plus did. Part of it is that the upgrade probably won't be that great ( the larger screen made a huge difference and it's been done now) and the China market is expected to be less, but also, the prices are getting too high. With Motorola coming out with pretty nice mid-tier devices, many will not pay the price Samsung hopes.
