Is that an issue specific for Jburg, or other regions too Capetown/Pretoria etc ? Must go back and visit my relatives, haven't been back in nearly a decade Was thinking of returning later this year.
Not sure if you heard of the term 'Load Shedding', our government coined it in late 2007, when the mismanagement (poor maintenance and lack of long term strategy for growing population) of our power utility Eskom came back to bight them in the ass, due to high electricity demand and not enough power being generated by power stations. It lasted for a few months in 2008 until they sort of fixed it up.
Come late 2014, they found themselves back where they were in late 2007, once again far too much demand and not enough supply, especially with much of the infrastructure being overdue for maintenance.
So we have Load Shedding, it mainly affects JHB as this is where most of the demand is, followed by Cape Town and Durban. What happens is multiple suburbs are shut off the grid for between 2-4hours a day, depending on demand and available capacity. We now have apps on our phones that follow the Load Shedding schedule, each day at around 8am we are sent info of the likeliness of there being Load Shedding that day, and if so what areas are affected.
So my Note 4 with its great battery life and fast charging makes things much easier
