Is that an issue specific for Jburg, or other regions too Capetown/Pretoria etc ? Must go back and visit my relatives, haven't been back in nearly a decade :( Was thinking of returning later this year.

Not sure if you heard of the term 'Load Shedding', our government coined it in late 2007, when the mismanagement (poor maintenance and lack of long term strategy for growing population) of our power utility Eskom came back to bight them in the ass, due to high electricity demand and not enough power being generated by power stations. It lasted for a few months in 2008 until they sort of fixed it up.

Come late 2014, they found themselves back where they were in late 2007, once again far too much demand and not enough supply, especially with much of the infrastructure being overdue for maintenance.

So we have Load Shedding, it mainly affects JHB as this is where most of the demand is, followed by Cape Town and Durban. What happens is multiple suburbs are shut off the grid for between 2-4hours a day, depending on demand and available capacity. We now have apps on our phones that follow the Load Shedding schedule, each day at around 8am we are sent info of the likeliness of there being Load Shedding that day, and if so what areas are affected.

So my Note 4 with its great battery life and fast charging makes things much easier :)

GSM Arena specs updated 59 mins ago ahead of launch .. Still unofficial till Thursday but I think we are getting pretty much there now.

Considering nothing is official, I'm hoping the battery size is wrong. I noticed it says "yes" to having an IR blaster. Which I believe, from all the leaked pics, would be incorrect. So there's still a chance it could be wrong. Fingers crossed.

Well Samsung sure has been killing it lately, killing useful features such as the ir blaster along with sd card and removable battery. They also seem to be killing their fanbase and marketshare trying to copy Apple

Indeed. I think they're could be cross contamination of S6e+ specs here, as you say only two days now.

Listen bud I've had every galaxy phone including the galaxy nexus and aside from the extended battery I had on my gs5 I have NEVER swapped batteries or used the IR blaster.I had a 64gb sd card but can live without it because Samsung got rid of 16gb base models and ships 32gb minimum now.

Edit typing this on a gs6 that I didn't even know has an IR blaster and not 100% sure it even has one or care to even look it up

Samsung used to throw the whole kitchen at you and is getting rid of crap people never use.I honestly could care less about an IR blaster because its a stupid gimmick that takes up weight and space on the phone

Congrats I guess, what I said doesn't apply to you. I used to be a huge Samsung fan and still like their phones but I am not a blind fanboy, I can call out bs when I see it

You can't have it both ways, with the IR blaster people called it a gimmick and then with removable batteries people called out Samsung for not being premium enough.you can't play on both side bro.if Samsung made the gs6 with a removable back and a solid unibody beautiful metal phone like the one they made people would by the more premium version

They actually make the gs6 active and I think that has a removable battery but that phone is uglier than a master p sneaker

The ditched the sd card but gave you 16gb ultra fast internal storage for free and everything is going to the cloud now anyways.

I am not having anything both ways, Samsung needs a reality check and to be knocked off their perch imo. Just like what happened to MS with Xbox. Last gen they were on top then they made all these dumb changes and it is continuing to bite them in their ass and MS is steady working hard to win back consumers. I prefer The Xbox over PS4 but am glad they are getting spanked because that only means food things for consumers. If Samsung gets bruised up enough they will work even harder and it will be better for users

Samsung hit a saturation wall it was bound to happen and BTW it still sold the most phones in the world for last year and it is still number 1 in sales so I guess there doing something right.

300 million phones for 2014 is no joke

Here is a sad reality truth the gs6 alone solde more then every other flagship Android phones put together.

How well did the lg g4 and htc one sell?

Exactly!

Don't get me wrong, Samsung really pushes phone tech and is a leader in many regards but the battery, SD card and bloated touchwiz are horrible and need to change. I used to use nothing but Samsung phones

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
Stop it... The iPhone 6 plus has a very good battery, it's definitely not poor at all. I definitely prefer thin any day of the week. Convenience is important as well IMO and with Samsung having the 30 minute charge to 50% power and the ability to use the phone for days on a single charge with power saving and ultra power saving mode I don't think it's an issue anymore. If consumers lament the death of the removable battery then for gods sake just get a battery pack and carry that around with you.

I have read the iPhone hasn't got the best battery life though, it certainly won't last a full day of heavy use for instance. It is also not a good excuse for having a non removable battery to then carry around an extra device almost as big as your phone. Or carry your phone charger around with you everywhere, that's going backwards in mobile technology.

Anyway,

The S6 Edge Plus will be on sale in September according to the apparent 'accident' of the French Samsung site, so that phone will be coming to Europe if nothing else.

McDonald's also probably sells the most burgers but that doesn't mean they are the best

Likewise, chipotle probably Makes the most money off their over priced burritos...but that doesn't mean they make the best burritos (they don't.....shots fired! I am all for this local place near me).

This was an analogy for Apple.

New tweet from evleaks:
Both the GN5 and GS6e+ sport 3000mAh batteries. http://t.co/yHcWg8Hj75
Yeah seems the GSM arena specs I posted earlier are indeed going to be accurate.

It's too soon to say for definite, but I did pretty much call all the specs all along :)

And we should reserve judgement on battery life until its actually out there being tested. We could hope at least there is an extra 1hr average SOT over the S6e current.

The Note 5 will be a day one purchase for me. I will post back as much battery life info as I can. I sure hope they don't disappoint in battery life! I still have my Note 4 so I can compare the two side by side.

The only two questions we really need answering now are Price & Availability of both devices ...
I am concerned about battery life if the 3000 mAh battery is true. The Note line should be a power users best friend. It should be able to power through a tough business day. We will find out in 2 days

Spec's :(

3,00mAh battery !!! :( ( Don't expect the Note 5 to have killer Note 2 type battery life, or even anything close to iPhone 6 Plus battery life. It will realistically be a little better than the crap battery life the S6 gets )

Touchjizz :(

Pretty much the same hardware as the S6, not the updated newer processor :(

Huawei Nexus FTW :)

I said this much earlier in this thread that even if it does share same processor as the S6, that's not a bad thing. Whilst the S6 & S6e have received criticism for some with battery &/or ram management - there universally has been nothing but praise for its processor. It's still going to be one of the fastest devices available CPU wise, so it shouldn't be seen as a bad thing in that regard. It's a noticeable improvement over the 805 in the Note 4.

Hopefully the extra ram addresses the aggressive ram issue and the extra 450mAh should give some extra boost to battery even if it's not a big increase due to the extra screen size.

The hurdle will be price and availability. It's looking now like the S6e + will be priced as high as some of us feared at least in Europe. Which leaves the question of price and availability of the Note 5 being the biggest hurdles Samsung has to address.

Do they slash profit margin and release the Note 5 at a lower price than they released the S6 - or will it be priced somewhere in-between the S6e + and S6.

Likewise all that is academic if the rumor of no release in Europe holds true.

48 hours those questions will be answered and either way I am sure the Internet will erupt.

I'm so happy with my Nexus 6 + custom ROM, and I LOVE vanilla Andtoid. The Note 5 and Touchwizz with small 3000mAh battery does NOTHING for me. Plus being on ATT no unlocked bootloader, no rooting for a long time on the Note 5.

But still interested in seeing the final product. Samsung is great at screens / displays, that's about it.

Depending on price, availability and how I'm feeling, I might be a day one reserver myself. I tend to impulse buy all my gadgets, lol. I'm seriously already bored of my Nexus 6 and miss Samsung. I was using a Note 4 user before giving it to my mom and buying a Nexus 6.
