Well, again believe this or not, but this comes from my younger bro who works at best buy mobile. He at a presentation from a US samsung rep tonight.

Here was his conversation with me. His messages are in bold.

Technically I could get sued and fired for telling you this but it will be released and shipped on the 21st

Yeah well I won't tell. Rumor was it would go up for preorder in France on that day.

Hmm...I just hear it will be expensive and that battery isn't much larger than the s6

The battery is really good I believe. It will now charge in 90 minutes. And they are releasing a wireless fast charger that will charge it in 120 mins. It will also have a built in battery so you can take it with you and charge your phone without any cords. When you plug in the wireless charger it will charger your phone and the chargers backup battery

Hmmm...I heard that battery will be only 400 ma bigger than the s6....with the same processor and a larger screen.... I doubt that will give a good battery life. I hope I'm wrong, but the s6 battery was bad. I charged the phone 2-3 times a day. The iPhone six plus last all day. I have used it all day today, watched a few episodes on it while working, and still at 33%

I doubt it is that small. Also that phone is lightnung fast

The s6 is lightning fast already

http://www.phonearena.com/news/Samsung-Galaxy-Note-5-and-S6-Edge-Plus-to-have-3000-mAh-batteries_id7252

She said you can charge the phone for ten mins and it will last for 4 hours

A Samsung rep?

Yes

Similar promises were made for the s6....I hope your right but we will see. Ill wait for real life reviews I guess

Price?

Unlocked I thing close to 900 but not %100

that is with the base storage of 32?

then more for increase to 64 and 128?

this is the note not the edge plus?

Yea. I don't thing there will be a 128

The conversation then changed, but he did mention he was NOT SURE on the price. Lets hope he is wrong on that .

I don't think I ever met a Samsung rep at a BB that had the slightest inkling of what they were talking about. I'd rather just ask the BB guys, who are slightly less clueless. Seriously some of the stuff that comes out of those Samsung reps is just so insanely wrong.

While I don't sympathize with the battery moaners, I do kinda wonder if they have to release it with a backup battery how bad the battery truly is. If it gets iPhone 6 plus battery life I'm more than happy as that will last me all day. But if it's less than that then many are going to be pissed. I'm passing on the Note 5 anyhow and will most likely opt for the S6 edge plus, might as well go all in on thin and sexy.

Hmm I'm still on the fence and will wait on battery usage. Pricing will be fairly steep so want to make sure it's worth the cost. Do love the design and materials used though. And the camera should be excellent as usual.

Note 4 should become a great buy for £350-450 with the removable battery and SD options. However, the 805 I had did have a tendency to throttle after 10 mins of gaming. I believe the Exynos variant had no such issues and the S6 definitely does not.

S6 Edge+ will be another beauty for sure. Let's see if Samsung can utilise the edge functions a bit more.

Speaking of thin, I'm waiting on 4.85mm of Oppo R5 goodness after they had a flash sale here. Handled one last year and it was amazingly slim and sturdy. Battery is meagre at 2000mAh and the reason I didn't buy initially as my main device. However, it'll do nicely as a backup/second to the S6 for £169.

More features start to leak...

It is perfect for students, featuring a “Photo Note” capability that lets you take pics of notes on a classroom chalkboard that are then converted into printed text; a Smart Select function that allows you to copy and paste images and texts simultaneously; Screen Write, for the student who reads on his or her Galaxy Note and underlines and writes notes on screenshots of e-book pages that are saved to the phone’s gallery; and more

One more day to go. I'll be watching the event tomorrow. I'm off work so I will be able to take it all in. I have a decent upgrade, when I say decent I mean I'd need to pay £400 and then I could upgrade which would still be cheaper than buying the note 5 or S6 edge plus outright in the storage capacity I would like (128GB/64GB).

So it's pretty much between the edge plus or the note 5. If I'm not impressed by either of these phones there is a possibility that I'll go for the s6 or S6 edge. The note 4/S5 have advantages e.g removable battery, SD card slot, waterproofing (S5). However they are getting old now and I had the note 4 and wasn't that impressed with performance of battery life. Also I want the new camera improvements, improved fingerprint scanner with Samsung pay support and the new look touchwiz with the themes. Whilst I say that I could go for the S6/S6 edge it's not likely as I do prefer a phablet and ultimately I'd find it too small. I'll be keeping my 6 plus as I'm still heavily entrenched in the Apple ecosystem. If I'm really impressed by the iPhone 6S plus then I'll buy it outright.

It's so awesome to have the job I have. Working at AT&T, I have personally already seen the note 5 and have gotten to play with it. I have also played with the S6 Edge Plus. We even got some screen protectors and a few cases in shipment earlier today. Soon!

Personally, I like the Note 5. I am very privileged to get a work phone and a personal phone. I use my iPhone 6 as my personal phone and I currently have a Note 4 as my work phone. I didn't like the feel of the S6 Edge Plus, it honestly felt like a blown up S6 Edge and only had one additional feature...which will be added to the S6 Edge once the phone is released...

When the Note 5 is available, I plan on switching my work phone over to it.

Let's just be clear for a moment, to me, Samsung will never make a phone that I am as comfortable using as my iPhone.

I'm looking forward to it on the basis of the next TouchWiz updates being shown and in three to six months being rolled out to others.

Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ to have a 3,000 mAh battery

Yep. The GSMArena specs I posted yesterday are all pretty much being confirmed from all external sources and are exactly what I suspected all along.

Anybody anticipating Samsung launching the phone with their new increased density batteries?
This would be the only excuse for Samsung to use a smallish 3000mAh battery, as I guess I read somewhere, you could multiple the capacity with 1.5,
so it would mean about 4500mAh...

The technology was supposedly not due to come out of development and into production till the end of the year beginning of next earliest, so I'd be very much surprised if they were able to rush forward development into production which must have commenced over a month ago. It's sadly too much wishful thinking.

Expect that for maybe the S7 next Easter time.

This is disappointing. The battery life of the note 4 which I had for a few weeks before returning was not that great. If this battery is smaller and it can't be swapped out then I don't know. Why are Samsung doing this?

I really like Samsung but it seems that everything that differentiated them from Apple and even the other android OEM's they are abandoning. I didn't care that their devices were 'ugly' and I've never had a problem with touch wiz!! All these changes are not for the better imo.

I had battery issues with my note 4 before I sold it so I don't think with removeable gone this helps.

I'm already getting annoyed with my S6 edge battery life and I know I need to charge it every night otherwise it will be dead by lunch time.

Even when I have devices with big, long lasting battery - I always charge overnight on all of them regardless even if there was 60% left. Did you only charge every other day previously on your Note 4 then ?

I've been spoiled by the 6 plus battery life. Also with all my previous Samsung phones I always had a spare battery. If the battery life on any Samsung phone I get in the future is less than the S5/note 3 I can see myself becoming irritated quickly and the phone being sent back.

There were many times I had around 40% left and didn't charge overnight but saying that even note 4 near the end I charged every night

I think battery life failure on note 4 was 5.0 related

But I had two spare batteries so going to bed on 30-40% was never an issue with spares

The trouble is though that the Exynos didn't have LTE support, hence why is was for select markets I ly and the Snap Dragon version was for markets with LTE.
Obviously Samsung have since fixed that with the Exynos. U have read a lot about the Note 4 and no one mentioned any throttling?

My battery has been pretty good on my Note 4 its gets me through the day and then some. If i forget to charge over night then I can charge on my 30 minute commute to work or at my desk at work. But pretty much the N4 has been a beast as far as battery life. The N4 has a 3220 mAh battery so if the Note 5 has a 3000 mAh battery so hopefully the difference can be made up in the power efficiencies of the new technology in the N5. We will see very shortly! I really hope the N5 does not have battery life issues.
