They need a better naming scheme for the mid range. All the A variants are very confusing.

I was impressed with the A phone I played with but wasn't sure if it was A5 or A7 and even the owner wasn't even sure. They thought it was an S6!!'
Samsung is horrible at naming....hopefully they are in the process of steam lining that. They kind of have with the s6 and s6 and the edge plus.

First real user battery life report.

Standby isn't reported yet....but 7 hours screen on time.

There's something seriously wrong or photoshopped there.

Device spent 8hrs 42mins total time on battery and screen accounts for only 24%.

That doesn't and can not equate to 7hrs SOT as they are pretending in the other shot.

That has to be someone faking ... 24% of 8hr 42mins would be closer to 1hr40mins SOT just using the math alone.

Well I don't have the luxury of choosing between the S6 edge plus or the note 5.

I do like the idea of a 6 inch phone (I love phablets) but I don't like stock android. I may just bite the bullet and go for the S6 edge plus. It would be my secondary device as my daily driver is the iPhone 6 plus.

I'm in nearly the same situation. I haven't owned a phablet, but trying them in stores makes me want one as my next phone. I'm in the UK, so no Note 5 here, but I'd rather a curved screen than an S Pen anyway. The only potential drawback is price. If I can't get a good price at release, I'll probably get the S6 (Edge), which I can get for £449 (£499 for the Edge) at giffgaff. Testing out the Samsung Galaxy/iPad combination.

I wouldn't worry about those % numbers I'm at 13 hours use and 3 hours screen time and my screen usage shows 5% and chrome 42% lol

Lol... oh well I will have to stop trying to apply logical mathematics to Android's battery stats :D

That's a really weird discrepancy / way of reporting power and percentages of overall use ...

14% more battery (3,000 v 2600) for what if that is true 7hr SOT (and if it does end up being accurate) - then I really should be getting 5-6hrs on my Edge not the 3-3.5 average :( That being said I even with that average it always lasts me the full day - it just makes you feel your being short changed when others are getting so much better battery. It's like 'what am I doing wrong?' ....

Huge s-pen fan here. Does the new one actually click to expose the pen tip? Or is it just a click that does nothing else?

Sorry I can't lower my screen shots on my gs6 display! Time for some of you to get real retina phones lol
I think even if I upgrade my "monitor" to retina with 8K in a few years, your 4K phone screenshots will still display big.

Wow some , that actually have the Note 5 are saying it has better battery than the Note 4.

Doesn't surprise me. The same complainers popped up before the Note 4 release saying the Note 4 would have worse battery life, but it ended up having better battery life on most benchmarks. One thing about Samsung is they know how to optimize the battery life, and also add things like fast charging and power saving modes.

What's up with the dark theme in that reddit post? Can you enable a dark theme in the new TW now? That would be awesome.

I can get very similar battery on my Note 4 as that Reddit user did with their Note 5. My Note 4 often outlasts me. I take it off charge when I wake up, then use it for Music, Social Media, Web Browsing, Emails, Calendar reminders etc... and by the time I go to bed its at around 25%.

Here is a recent run:
Over 12hours off charge
7h43m SOT

What brightness settings are you using to achieve such?

My Samsung phones I always use auto-brightness with slider set to top or +5 depending on software variations.

My note 4 battery life was around 4-4.5 SOT.

In fairness it didn't lose 200maH of size over the previous note (Note 3) it gained 20maH, so there is a difference in that argument albeit not a huge one.

Just crazy decisions from Samsung regarding the Note 5, it's almost like they are trying to make it niche so they can focus on the S6+.

Yet they still release 7 other phones a month.

They've realized that very few people use the pen and they can save money by simply releasing a larger phone without the Stylus. Not launching the N5 in Europe is clearly a test run; If removing the pen doesn't harm sales, why continue to license the Wacom digitizer tech? It also likely prevents that dumb curved screen thing b/c the Wacom digitizer needs some "dead" digitizer space in the bezels to operate properly at the edge of the screen.

Really disappointing for me and the apparently 5 other people who actually seriously used the pen. Of course it's possible that even if things go this way there could still be a Note line for enterprise, but it won't be a flagship consumer line anymore if the numbers agree with the hypothesis.

I set it to 35%, but when I go outside I go to Auto +5. :)

Yeah I was thinking if I need it at Auto + 5 in daylight in Ireland - you had to have it as bright in jburg :)

I must try running my edge for a day on around 35% and see the difference. But generally I'm too lazy to manually adjust brightness other than at night hence leave it set on auto + 5 all the time.
