Riiiiight and if the benchmark said it had horrible battery....you would take it at face value. It all depends on how someone uses their phone. But the battery tests do give a clear indication of what people can expect.

Yes, I agree, it seems that negatives are always quickly and happily taken at face value and any positives are taken with a "let's wait for real life use" attitude. Even though retorts on Xda were saying battery life was excellent and not worse than the Note 4. People keep acting like this Note 5 is not an upgrade from the Note 4. Bottom line: This phones is a beast, and if anyone thinks it's not an upgrade from the Note 4, then they shouldn't consider the next iPhone S model an upgrade from the current one.

I am not defensive about it. Just see a clear double standard from a lot of people. I have seen people rave about phones and benchmarks and get downright giddy about it. Then benchmarks about a Samsung phone and for some reason there seems to be some kind of negativity about it.
When people switch phones and prefer something else.......they have a habit of then dumping on their old choice.
Well don't base other people's view the same as mine. I'm getting the iPhone plus S but if that has better benchmarks than note 5 big deal..it's how I use my phone.

As I said it's nice to brag about if it's better than the comp but overall doesn't mean a huge amount. It's how good your phone handles what you use it for.

It should be an upgrade as it is better no question but a year later it should be.

Is it worth the upgrade from the note 4? Maybe so but others it won't be. No removable and no SD card would put some off.

Depends if design over those things better.

Not like we here can upgrade anyway.

Not sure why iPhone needs to be mentioned but for consumers who valued a removable battery, sd card, and a 128 gb option, it might not be the upgrade they thought.

Because people complain there's no SD card and removable battery, then in the same breath say they're getting the iPhone or some other phone that has no SD card or removable battery. Or worse yet, they actually try to say they're gonna get a cheap Chinese Android phone like they're even in the same class as the Note 5. Let me also add, people are acting like this isn't much of an upgrade from the Note 4 (smh) and again turn to the iPhone S model like that's such an upgrade. Yeah, ok.

Yep...seen it here in this thread....especially during the Samsung presentation.
Just an FYI....Truefan31 is just here to say something negative........ I just ignore him as others do.

Does not look on paper to be a big upgrade. Granted I have not really researched the Note 5 and I will try it at BB in the near future but the way I used the Note 4 I doubt I will see much of a difference.

As far as the next iPhone, we will see about that as well. I really was not contemplating upgrading from my Plus.

I disagree, it's quite the upgrade. Just to name a few. Improved Touchwiz, better camera front and back, improved fingerprint reader, new design and materials, faster storage, faster and more RAM, improved display. Not much of an upgrade? Really? What other phone is upgraded more than this from last year's model? I think a lot of people need to put away their hate and ignorance, take a breath, and put on their smart consumer hats and reevaluate. A smart consumer is the one that keeps the manufacturer in check and as a result, keeps the industry moving forward.

Maybe because some feel SD card and removable is what kept them with android so without that feature if both phones offer the same in terms of build and storage they would stick with iPhone. .just guessing though

Is it? Some hands on I've seen say there's no difference with touchwiz

Good news if it has slimmed down though if it is but I've read nothing to say it is

Compared to the note 4? Yes touchwise is superior this generation. Just read a Galaxy s6 review.

Not a huge difference between the s6 and note 5 beyond visual changes and the extra note features.

Yeah was talking about from S6 S6 edge

Really? Some say they've seen Jesus on a piece of toast, now what? That being said, I've listed more than a streamlined Touchwiz (from the Note 4) in my mini upgrade list above. So I ask again, what other phone has been more upgraded than the Note 5.

Then you are correct, at least on the surface.

We don't know what's been optimized or changed underneath.
From some on XDA that has the S6 and now the Note 5....they say TW is about the same except it seems to be a bit snappier.......maybe the extra GB of ram?

Yes...and surely some optimization. I doubt Samsung's software department failed to improve at least something.

Somebody is abit angry

All there is to go off with touchwiz is what people say when they handle the phone and if they say touchwiz is the same that's all I can go off.

Where did I say note 5 isn't better than note 4? It clearly is but it isn't a huge upgrade just like 6 plus S won't be for 6 users...although 2gb ram could be big deal for some 6 users

I don't really think he is angry.

The note 5 is a bigger upgrade than the proposed 6s. Software aside (it will get android m), everything about it is resigned....simile to what apple does every two years.

The removing of a few features may anger some...but every other aspect of the phone is a marked improvement.

Not angry, but let's be honest, if this isn't a huge upgrade, what phone is this year or even last year. We are at the point where phones are so good that each upgrade won't feel like much of an upgrade. Until a completely new form factor comes, it'll become harder to wow people. It's my belief Samsung will be that company to bring that new form factor, as they're the only ones that seem to be innovating display and battery tech to the next level.

well the way I see it is that the iPhone is available in 128GB (which I have) which negates the need for an SD card. The 6 plus also has excellent battery life which again makes the argument for a removable battery moot.

As for the iPhone 6S I can't say how much of an upgrade it will be as we haven't had anything confirmed about it yet. The note 5 is a decent upgrade from the note 4 imo. I think the real disappointment for me is that it isn't much better than than the S6 and traditionally the note line has always been and upgrade over the previous S series phone.

Looks like more battery information. Preliminary tests are pointing towards the Note 5 equal to or better battery life than the Note 4.

It's a good start but I'd take these results with a grain of salt considering what many have experienced in real life usage. Haven't quite a few Note 4 users on these forums claimed their battery performance diminished considerably when the Note 4 was updated to Lollipop--the same version the Note 5 ships with? And jamerz, please correct me if I'm wrong but didn't you even say that the iPhone 6+ was at least as good as, if not a little better than your Note 4 concerning battery life? I only mention the latter because according to these tests, the Note 4 should be 2 hours better than the 6+. Same goes for the Nexus--I've yet to see anyone claim the Nexus 6 has better battery life than the iPhone 6+ yet this charts claims otherwise.

Again, not here to tout the iPhone 6+ but rather emphasis a bit of caution regarding these early benchmarks.

Exactly, these battery results are BS, or just done wrong or something, bias towards AMOLED displays and Samsung phones.

Real world, real forum users in hands testing is all that counts.

I have the Nexus 6 ( which I love :) ) I also owned the iPhone 6 Plus back in Jan + Feb, that I returned on day 30. Anyways, there's no comparison with battery life, the iPhone 6 Plus blows away my Nexus 6 for battery life. By a wide margin. So obviously these tests results above are meaningless, just based on that.
