Regarding pricing, the Verizon variant is $699 at BB, the others are at least $100 more than that at that retailer. You get $200 with trading in a working smartphone which basically is a steal for an old workhorse.

I would not be getting one if it wasn't that price and with trade-in AND you get the charger, it would not be worth it for me considering the other smartphones I already have.

Samsung continues to do some type of offer with new smartphones from the get go, you will very rarely see that with other manufacturers.

The iphone 6 Plus is not the same audience as the Note line so not ever having the things the Notes did should not be construed as a minus. Taking away things on the Note that were always there, folks get antsy as they needed the card and battery access. Folks buying iphones never did and Apple continues to sell them in droves regardless they charged $100 for extra storage.

Take the S-pen away on the Note? That would of never happened this go round.

This is the issue Samsung don't seem to be giving more storage

Most markets are still only offering 32GB..wtf

Yeah this is the first year i cannot buy the note line because no release in germany. I've had all 4 notes before.
And i will not buy the S6 Edge+ because here in germany it only comes with 32GB, what a bad joke....

I'll write up a mini review over the weekend. Something frustrating. I sync s-notes with evernote. Everything works great expect when you write on the "blank screen" (pull the s-pen out without having to turn the screen on and just write). Those notes do not sync for some reason.

That would bug me

They are action memo's rather than S-Notes. You would think there would be some cross sync between the two, but they are for all intent treated as completely separate applications.

And I'm curious as to how efficient a 720p play would be as lets be honest they could have stopped there, the Note 2's display was quite good, but here we are.
The Note 2 display was good because it RGB AMOLED. Samsung had to jack the DPI super high so we wouldn't see the grain in their non-RGB PenTile displays.

I spent a dollar for the Samsung Test Drive promo to use a Note 5 for a month...for $1. I haven't touched a Sammy since the Note 2. Should be interesting.

@jamezr what are your thoughts so far on the device?
So far loving this phone. I knew what to expect from most of it already. The build quality of course is right these with the S6.
What has surprised me so far is the feel in my hand. They made the Note 5 a little more narrow. A little design change that makes it so much easier to hold in my hand. Night and day from the Note 4. This phone feels small for a 5.7 inch device when i am holding it.

TW is better this time around as well. It feels so smooth. Then the battery life has been awesome. Yesterday I got almost 5.5 hrs SOT on my first full charge and days useage.

Negatives.... the back is a fingerprint magnet! Worried about drops with the glass back. Love the note taking with the screen off. But wish it would integrate with spen notes. It does not it just kind of orphans the writing into a note on your homescreen. Maybe a software update can fix that.

Be careful with the back, I just lay my Z3 down on a table and I guess it drags a little because there is light scratches. A negative for those that go naked and want a near perfect condition device.

The feel of the Note 5 is the first thing I commented about with my initial use at BB. So much better than the Note 4. Gonna be hard to put this puppy down without missing it versus other smartphones because of its feel.

Your not going to see grain at that resolution.

It's the highest rated display ever, on a mobile phone, according to display mate.

In line for the phone, first in line actually. Should have it in about 30 minutes or so.

I am going to wait an hour or so before picking it up to avoid the initial rush. I am sure the mobile dept will be well represented at BB for those picking up preorders though.

I read the fine print and it says it was with a new activation.were you able to get a phone without them activating it on a line?

That's usually how they get away with those 200 deals, they make money on the back end with the 2 year contract you sign on the new activation

Dammit you guys are making me want this phone.

You can try it out and decide later. There is not really any drawbacks for me considering the price paid. Only thing is I have so many smartphones already and I will be committed shortly and taken away in a straight jacket.

That's the good thing about the protruding camera though. It's ugly, but it protects the whole back.

I know how you feel. I feel a bit better today though. I saw a comparison video between the Edge+ and the Note, and it says some good stuff about the Edge+. Also I saw some tweets saying the Edge+ feels better in the hand?
That is assuming that you're looking at the Edge+. I'm still waiting to see if I can get it for a good price.

Displaymate said its 21% less power draw over the note 4 screen with and also being brighter at the same time!

That is where the power savings is coming from! And over 40% more power efficient then the iPhone 6 plus

If that is the case which I thought it might be then I am not going to get it. No worries, next up will be the Pure or IPhone 6s.

Heading to BB shortly but it is only a 5 minute drive so I will not waste lots of time anyway.

Please let us know,if that's the case I will buy one also and get to keep my Verizon unlimited data plan and just walk away with the sealed box and pop my sim in it.

Verizon found a way to stop us with upgrading and keeping unlimited. The got rid of the 2 year subsidized price and went monthly payments.

That's awesome. This is where Samsung's tech really helps accelerate them.

Action memos directly in s--note save to Evernote though.

Yeah it's just one of the weird anomalies how some of the S-pen apps work together or not together depending on how they are launched. Really they should roll the whole S-pen collection of apps under 1 app rather than fragmenting them and then they would at least all sync altogether regardless of how or which part was launched.
