So I could pay it off whenever I want to?

Do people recommend getting the Note with a carrier or is it best to just get the international version?

People can say what they will, but I actually have sprint and like it :O

I get great service in my area (better than att and verizon inside most buildings) and unlimited data for $60. They do not put a lot of bloat on their phones, and I usually buy it through them.

Granted they are not GSM or GSM unlocked, but I am happy with them as a carrier. To answer you question, the phone financing is not a bad idea. It cost the same and you can pay it off whenever you want. I would be worried about LTE bands with international versions.

But if it's coming from the Samsung Push app, you made it sound like you couldn't disable notifications from that app without affecting other functionality. Regardless, you're right, we all have different peeves...this would just irritate the hell out of me.
I would bother me too. I wonder though if they opted into something to get that sent to them. Lets face it....if this was an everyday business as usual occurrence we would have heard of it by now. There are a gazillion Samsung phones out there. I think there is more to it than what is on the surface.

I have Verizon...only because when i am hiking or off roading to my favorite fishing hole.....i can still get service. It may be just receiving and sending texts but its something.

But with all the great plans TMO and Sprint are offering i would switch in a second if the coverage were the same.

With Apple no longer innovating on software/OS's/hardware, I'm going with the Note 5.

Siri is STILL useless. Cortana does more out of the box on Windows on version 1.0 than Siri can do over the last 3 years. Apple is STAGNANT.

Google Photos is far superior to Apple Photos. Apple wants me to sit there and tag faces all day long, while Google has the faces ready to. They even have places sorted for me, makes movies and other albums. Since Apple doesn't do machine learning (for now), they will always be behind Google who's obviously using their servers for more than storing stuff.

I never liked the 6+ design. And since the 6S+ will be the exact same, I have to question why have I been loyal to Apple all these years when it's obvious Google, Microsoft, and Samsung came with their A game. I can't believe iOS 9 will not let the 6+/6S+ do multiple screen apps! They are charging me premium prices, but not giving me premium services & software.

I could not get the trade in for $200 because I was buying the Note 5 outright but I bought it anyway (I know you guys ordered a straight jack and the boys in the white suits are coming). I did get he charger.

All I can say is hot damn, so smooth and fast. I enabled developer options and killed the animations and reduced the processes to two.

I have it set up pretty much and updated the apps. I have no inclination to use Nova, I never felt I did not want to on a Samsung even the Note 4.

Geez I am super impressed. Time for more fun and I even feel I want to run out and take pictures too. The feeling in my hand is fantastic, one of the best I ever encountered with a device this size.

So how long before MRU has one? I say before Christmas

Yeah I said I wouldn't get the Note 4 and by Christmas I got it ... The fact they aren't releasing it in Europe does change things. It means it costs more to buy / import and resale value is also questionable.

We will see .... :)

Or resale value will be higher because it is supply constrained there. Of course if Samsung starts officially selling it in Europe it'll tank again, but you seem like a gambling man.

The fact that they are not releasing it in Europe this year is still a mind-blower. I would be pissed as hell! Unfortunately, with the S7 usually introing in Mar?, that doesn't leave a lot of time to introduce the note 5 to Europe, without possibly interfering with the S7? In Europe, I really hope they do release it and do it with some fanfare (didn't Apple use to release in Europe later than US with iPhones?) Believe it or not, if it does well in the US, that should bode well for a European release. Good luck. We'll see...

My limited time with a Note 5, in BestBuy, left me with a very favorable impression. The s pen feels better ( a little heavier?), the air command software is a nice improvement, especially being able to add some apps, and the feel in the hand is awesome. Also, the off-screen memo is a great touch. I will use that often. The wireless charging and fast charging are more than adequate trade-offs for the omission of removable batteries. Too, so far, there have been pretty positive reviews of the battery performance by users here and around the web. Why they haven't offered a 128gb model is odd? If they do it later, it doesn't help much with those who already have one. For those on Tmobile's Jump program, you could take advantage of this.

For all you Exercise buffs, the s pen is excellent for writing down workouts and adding notes to them.

I don't know about that. I love me some apple photos. It syncs so nicely with my mac and iPad. Also, a lot of the apps I use are much more polished on IOS...especially banking apps. The samsung finger print scanner is missing in pretty much all of the apps I use minus the samsung browser.

Since my most recent daily driver is the iPhone 6, a lot of my comparison is still IOS to android. With that said, the note 5 is easily my most favorite android phone I have used in recent time.

I do love how everything syncs on my iPad and MacBook..good to be back on ios. Far better software than on Samsung for me.

GSMarena review:

http://m.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_note5-review-1286.php

Seems the battery is holding up (85h) in that review so almost at Note 4 level. Interested to see how it goes on full load (high brightness, 4G only, doing intensive tasks).

Looks like a good all-rounder but the absence in Europe meaning higher import prices and potential warranty issues means I'll likely pass.

Shame as I was one of those with the original Note being mocked who could see the potential back when most phones has no larger than 4-inch displays. The the N2 and 4 were awesome as well for me.

Must say the ads thing is a bad idea. I don't think Samsung should be following HTCs lead really given their problems.

Question to those who own the Note 5 and have had experience with AOSP/Google devices. I'm a big fan of the Google reverse phone number lookup and was wondering if TW offers the same?

No it doesnt, closest thing with the at&t variant is caller id, but you have to pay for that service so I just disable it. In the past I did see there was a way of getting that on a none aosp device, but you have to be rooted. This was over a year ago though, so not sure if that's still the case.

Wow, bummer...

I hate to say it, I'm having buyers remorse.

Second day battery life is great! Heavy use today on Words With Friends and FB. WWF absolutely kills the battery.
Should still get 5.5 hrs SOT

I'm a big Nexus guy, still like my Nexus 6. And I am also on ATT. But there's no frigging way I'd get a non Nexus phone on ATT anymore, they've become more Nazi's than even Verizon.

If I were to get the Note 5, it has got to be on T-Mobile only. Which has an unlocked bootloader, and they are cheaper than ATT by a good amount, especially on data, which ATT just fukks us on.

Do you have intentions of leaving att? I've been thinking about it.

Absolutely. They have some wicked good plans. And their data charges are significantly better then ATTs

$10 extra a month, will get you an additional 20GB data on T-Mobile.

$10 extra on ATT gets you 1GB, yes only 1GB that's a frigging sad joke

Plus I want to support T-Mobile on principal on their openness to keep their phones like " International " phones, meaning unlocked and rootable.

My concern is coverage here in Miami, FL. I've heard they're not that great. But I believe they offer WiFi calling, just not if on the galaxy series.
