The app refresh and slight choppy game animation are just minor quibbles. Samsung get several things right with touch Wiz too. It does not take away from the amazing piece of hardware that Samsung has created.
A thing that frustrated me about the Nexus 6 was it's awkward size. I can't belive I'm holding a 5.7 inch device with note 5. Material design is great but it does no favors on an amoled screen. It's one of the main reasons I rooted the Nexus 6. I couldn't stand all the white. The ability to change the look of the Note 5 with a dark theme is great.
It's strange then that the phones carrying the best cameras have not always been the best sellers. For example the Nokia Lumia range pushed the envelope for a number of years with Carl Zeiss glass and impressive sensors. You could say in that situation that Windows put people off, and I would agree with that because user experience trumps even hardware for the mass market.Just to add, being bothered by refreshes goes to user experience. And describing your user experience is a subjective thing. So I can't and won't debate it. There's simply no point. What you say, is your truth. End of story. It really does comes down to making a compromise on features. There's not a single phone that will check all boxes for everyone. I'm guessing most will put up with Samsung's aggressive RAM management for the high end hardware. The best display, premium design and materials, and top of the class camera. In fact, from my experience, I would argue the biggest deciding factor in choosing a phone is quality of camera first and foremost. Even before battery life. But please, go on about those refreshes and feel free to buy something else. It's your right as a consumer. Until the perfect phone comes along (it never will), compromise, that's always what's is been about.
But other than bashing the iphone, which seems to happen in a lot of non-iphone threads, you claim the biggest deciding factor is the camera. That the iphone 6 outsold all recent Samsung models are you suggesting that consumers think the iphone 6 is "best in class"? Reading between your own lines.
Which dark theme are you referring to?Is the theming only on TW? I've enabled the dark theme on my edge+ and absolutely LOVE LOVE it. I thought its was a lollipop thing. Thank God someone finally figured out we use our phones in the dark.
If I go into display settings you can download more themes. There are some free ones and some paid ones. There is a free dark theme in there that is superb, darkens the phone dialer, settings, messages, pretty much everything.Which dark theme are you referring to?

You can have the best screens, the best camera and all the RAM you want but a more popular device with half the specs can come in and be more popular if the user experience is perceived as better.
Apple have a loyal fan base but it simply works! Software wise it is limited at certain things but the software won't freeze, have consistent lag or struggle with easy tasks.Well I think we can agree the iPhone has enjoyed top dog status for a very long time. Let's be honest, an android OEM would not get away with charging what Apple charges for the same hardware. So it's in a position where it's getting by in big part by brand name. But it was only recently that tech reveiwers became comfortable with saying that another phone camera was just as good as the iPhone's (Note 4.) So the general perception and word of mouth going around was iPhones have the best cameras. But with the GS6 and forward, reviewers are in concensus with declaring Sammy having the best display and camera hands down. So going forward I believe consumer perception will eventually match the reality of who actually has the best camera. Therefore leading to a change in choice of purchase. But I also believe Apple has some of the most loyal customers that simple don't care, and the big numbers Apple sees in sales are for the most part repeat buyers. Otherwise Apple's world market share would be a lot more than it is. It's not really growing as the sales number would make one believe.

The software is a big reason why I'm back as I love Samsung phones but the things that are simple failed too many times.

Yeah, with the little time I've owned the Note 5, I've realized I'm over the size of the Nexus 6. Dont get me wrong, I do love the N6 for what it is but the size factor isn't for me anymore. I'm still undecided whether or not I'm going to keep the Note 5 but, I've definitely decided I want something a tad smaller than the N6.Yeah The nexus 6 width I think more than anything else makes it feel so big by comparison to nearly all other smartphones bar Lumia 1520 / Blackberry Passport
I think it is quite amusing in this thread.....the people who actually OWN the note 5 are not complaining about app refreshes. But those that do not and might not get the phone bring it up constantly.
I am amazed at how this phone feels in my hand. It is right up there with my iphone 6 plus on ergonomics.
It is by far the best Android phone I have had to date.
And I thank you for it.That's actually my exact point too and possibly why it disappoints, because undoubtably if the new Touchwiz on the S6/S6e/Note5/Edge+ was optimised we would have the as close to perfect the devices we could wish for...
And I only did the test because it was asked by azhurvadal - if someone could run same test and post results![]()
I'm sure I am not the only one here reading your post and sniggering through my fingers at the irony between the start and end of what you have just written. Even your regular 'liker' must be mildly embarrassed by that one.I was about to mention that, but I think some are just on a crusade to grab any negative point and ride it like there's nothing else to talk about. Like there's nothing bigger about Note 5 and what makes it stand out had and shoulders amongst the crowd. But the fact is, it's such a crushing deal breaker for some. Oh well hope they enjoy their mid tier camera and display. It's good to have choices.![]()
I think this post doesn't represent the reality of the market. To each their own though.Well I think we can agree the iPhone has enjoyed top dog status for a very long time. Yeah some mention it and seem to have a personal crusade about it. They mention it so many times repeatedly yet. I used to have so much respect for some. But after seeing their personal agenda get in the way of any impartial un biased discussion.....not so much anymore. I think I am going to start doing this to phones I don't like in other threads. Just repeat over and over all the negative. This will be interesting.I was about to mention that, but I think some are just on a crusade to grab any negative point and ride it like there's nothing else to talk about. Can anyone tell the difference in picture quality?
That dumpling looks disgusting, what is in that?
