I know I have said this before but man I have been pounding this phone and it really doesn't lag any. Or is it just me because I have been giving this phone hell with opening apps and navigating quickly around the phone.

Trying it out. Used google maps to drive today while streaming over Bluetooth, a 1 hour drive knocked me down to 75% from 100%. The same drive on my iPhone 6 Plus yesterday with the same streaming app knocked me from 100% to 91% in the same time. Does this sound right? And on the iPhone I had wifi enabled and the BT was also connected to my watch.

Otherwise enjoying my note experience so far!

So, I asked this yesterday but never got a response; can I easily swap my att Sim to my t-mobile device without any hiccups? I'd like to see how an att sim works with a t-mobile device.
Pay the device in full and have a sercive plan in good standing for at least 40 days. After you have 40 days of service plan, you can call up t-mobile for them to unlock it and give you the unlock code. Until then, you can't try out a different sim card from another carrier.

Why do you continuously persist in bringing the iPhone into every post of yours ? This is a Note 5 thread. This is discussing Samsung, Touchwiz and the Note 5. It has nothing to do with the iPhone.

Likewise If it doesn't bother and you have no problem with it, why are you continuously defending it? Why always attempt to categorise it as only a tech enthusiast problem and even suggest users should fix it themselves ?

You say your not giving Samsung a pass, but by labelling it as tech enthusiast only problem and telling users to fix it themselves that is EXACTLY what your doing.

As for Samsung fixing it. Where is this fix 5 months after launch of the S6/S6 Edge ? Samsung haven't even acknowledged this issue so just saying 'it can be fixed by software' does not excuse it or even mean they will. There is indeed as much chance they will not ... Indeed given the new devices have this issue despite having an extra 1gb ram doesn't fill many of us with confidence that a fix is coming anytime soon.

Bravo.

For anyone interested.

Not really sure how I only used 7% of SoT at 4 hrs 55 m; my nexus 6 with 3 hrs of SoT would be around 20%.

some of what you said made sense. Talking about a flaw is one thing......but bringing up probably dozens of times in every thread is abit overkill. It seems to be a "i told you so" Or an "i predicted this" thing for some. Then some are just here because they do not like Samsung and just pretend to be interested so they can inject something negative.
The people that have the phone have said its a great performer. Great battery life even though most said here it would not get great battery life. The same are complaining about app refreshes on a phone they don't even own!!!!
People are complaining about it because it's something that shouldn't happen on a 2015 flagship. It's letting a great phone down

It's an amazing device one of the best out there easily. More people are angry that it isn't available here and for that people are angry at Samsung.

carefull....you can't say that here........according to some the Note 5 stutters and lags and refreshes all apps. But most who own the phone will says its a great performer.

I get that part....and they have expressed it quite a few times. But that should not get in the way of the rest of us that have the phone and want to talk about it.
The whole app refresh thing.....have you heard one Note 5 owner complaining about it? Most have it was a non issue or they didn't even know what it was . Then others here try to persuade them it is a huge issue. Its amazing to see so much negativity and making a mountain out of a tiny little mound of dirt.

Just because people don't complain about it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.if it didn't it wouldn't be mentioned.

It's most people who have handled the phone who have brought this issue up in the first place. All we can go off is what reviews have shown. The people who are using the phone.

The ones that have complained have made their point. Don't buy the device and move on. Why does it have to be repeated over and over and over again. When you only talk about this and nothing else, on such an amazing device, then there's agenda. I've been known to be hard on the iPhone's lacking hardware. Now if I decided to go into the iPhone forum and start bitching about it, what would you all say? You guessed it, T-R-O-L-L. So I don't care to go in the iPhone forum, and I won't bother buying something I don't feel is worthy of my money. It would be silly for me to complain about a device and then go out and buy that device, only to complain about the very thing I already knew I didn't like. Smh...:cool:

You do not mandate what topic of discussion is allowed. If you walk into a room full of people and they are talking about something you do not care about, you can choose not to engage in that conversation rather than complain about it.

Likewise you are free to add all of us who are discussing this to your ignore list. That way you will not see the discussion or feel aggrieved by it. After all you have made it perfectly clear that 'if you do not see it, it doesn't exist.

As for your last points - yourself and other have been trying to block this discussion, disseminating the same vitriol ad verbatim about those who are discussing it. That is the definition of having an agenda.

Instead of wasting time arguing with those discussing something you do not care about, why not actually share your thoughts on your enthusiasm for the device, what you like etc. You are free to discuss and share other things if you do not like the current discussion. Tell us about new Note 5 features, tell us and show us camera samples. That is how you engage in conversation - rather than just complain that you don't like the current topic - which if anything only protracts it further.

No phone will be a perfect fit. The Note 5 maybe the best for some but that doesn't mean they dont have to complain about its issues.

Besides there are many people who can buy smartphones like they are a bag of crisps. Many people own multiple phones.

Not everyone is a fanboy like you obviously are.

So you admittedly don't like a device, nor own it yet criticism of said device seems to find its way into the vast majority of your posts, a great many of which are in threads having nothing to do with that device.

You should take a long look in the mirror when making this comment for a prime example of the behavior you find so abhorrent. And the fact that these comments are in a different section doesn't absolve the behavior. This isn't the 'Endlessly rip the iPhone or iOS forum'. When you can actually practice what you preach, some here might consider your comments relevant.

For those who don't like samsung new RAM management, let's hope that S6 & N5 sales will be below their expectations.
Because if S6 & N5 sales are satisfying, you can bet that S7 & N6 will have the same RAM "feature".

I agree with you about mentioning it. But it becomes a personal crusade for some people here. They mention it dozens of times repeatedly in the same threads. Like it s going to make a difference somehow.
If this ram/app refresh really bothers some here that much then speak with your dollars and don't buy Samsung phones. Take action and write letters emails and attack their social media. I doubt very highly Samsung reads the forums here on MR.
There are better outlets to get something done then bitching and whining about it here sooooo many times.

It gets to the point where it takes over the thread and people who actually OWN the Note 5 don't want to post here.

I'm usually the one that notices performance hiccups when others dont, there were so many times when I'd hear that "this version has no lag" only to get the device myself and immediately notice some form of lag. So when I say this is a top performer, it's a top performer, only notice some skipped frames here and there, and of course the reloading that happens so fast most of the time I don't notice.

Last night I was watching a YouTube video that was over an hour long (movies fights), around 20 min. in I had to do something else and closed out the app. From there I used my phone sparingly in chrome, tapatalka, facebook, and agar.io. About 2-3 hours later I finally had time to watch the rest of the video and when I loaded up YouTube it did refresh, but it refreshed right back to my video exactly where I had left it, so for me it performed great.

I can understand though why this would bother some, when I did the test some apps reloaded back to where you were but others didn't and it can be a pain to constantly lose your spot. So while this is the best performing phone I have ever had, I have no issues people discussing it's faults as long as it's not used as an excuse to completely bash the phone or its users. It's through these discussions that things get improved. I'm sure some of you were probably sick of people complaining about the plastic builds and ultra laggy performance in the past, but without people raising those issues we wouldn't have the fantastic Samsung phones we have now, as they really seem like a company that will somewhat react to our criticism.

On the flip side, the ones who own and love this phone need not be so sensitive about the criticism. I get it, we're all excited about having this great new phone and dont want people killing or buzz and bringing us back down, it would be like your favorite team winning the championship and your buddy only wanting to talk about one of your players playing poorly in the championship. But this is how things move forward and get better, by talking about what's wrong and how it can be fixed.

So yeah, if you have issues with the new Note, by all means speak about it, just be respectful to the ones that are still on a high from owning this great phone, don't kill our buzz.

Well I gave it the old college try kiddos. Bought the Note 5 on Friday and returned it Sunday.

It's a BEAUTIFUL phone. Feels great in the hands. But flashbacks of my S4 experiences began to surface, ultimately sending me back to the iPhone. Nothing major, but it's the little things.

1) First and foremost was when I search the Play Store for an app, the videos they show have ads. WTF? I just want to see what the app does real quick, but you hit me off with an ad first. Yuck. Tacky.

2) No actionable notifications for text messages. The native Samsung app didn't do it, so I figured ok, I'll just grab the official Google Messenger app. Nope. There's quick reply when I'm in the phone already. But if the lock screen is on, it just shows me the message, but can't do anything with it but swipe away. Then I tried trust Textra. That worked, but wasn't consistent. This is really a basic feature. Having to download 2 apps just to get it reinforced the holes in Google's platform. Customization is all well and fine, but having to go this far is silly.

3) Group messages didn't work sending to and from users with iPhones. One person would get it (the first person on the list), the others wouldn't.

4) Missed the hardware button to the phone to go silent.

5) Missed the tap that takes you to the top of the screen.

6) Scrolling through websites weren't smooth at all. It would scroll, but have some kind of stutter if the pages was media heavy. Some of my touch wouldn't register properly. I felt I had to press harder to make pages scroll.

7) The built in finger print reader was great. However it wouldn't auto unlock my phone and bring to my home screen. I still have to swipe to unlock. Perhaps this was user error? No apps made use of this finger print reader to unlocking the app if you have a passcode on it. Would be great for Android Pay....6-8 months from now (see #10).

8) Battery life isn't great. Took it off charge at 7am. But noon I had 48% battery life. My normal use of web, Youtube, photos, Facebook/Twitter/Instagram. Now I see why Android users were freaking out about not having a removable battery.

9) My immediate family and closet friends all have iPhones, so iMessage/Facetime would be missed.

10). The realization I will always be 1 Android update behind just by sheer nature of the Android platform.

1. Not sure about this one, not a big deal either way to me. Ads are everywhere.

2. The stock samsung app doesn't? I guess I haven't noticed this yet. The lock screen thing is what it is. The fingerprint secure that samsung implements is third party. Android M integrates fingerprint sensor, so maybe this will change. Alternatively, maybe it is meant to be that way? I mean, I don't want someone to be able to reply to my text messages, even though my phone is locked. So maybe this is a feature, and just a matter of preference. Also.... I can confirm the stock Samsung messenger does indeed have actionable notifications.

3. I don't know about this, since I don't use group messages. Some third party apps claim to support this. Doesn't apply to me I guess

4. This is a nice feature of the iphone.

5.Samsung phones used to do this, but maybe they removed this feature. Several apps, such as my third party twitter app, support this. Again, I guess this is a preference thing.

6. I have in no shape or form experienced this, and honestly have tired to replicate it just now on media heavy website. If your using chrome, there is a seperate "chrome library for samsung devices" in the play store, but I don't know if that makes a difference. Again I have experienced this, and neither has it been noted in a review.

7. This is user error. Read reviews, youtube it, whatever. It works just like touchid on the iphone. This was a note 5 right? The note 4 was a swipe. Not sure how you had this problem....

8. Again, I don't know what to say here. I don't have this problem, nor has a reviewer, or the numerous people who posted here.

9. Can't help this.

10. I believe this idea stems from a lack of understand of android. Android M will be released before the note 5 gets an update, because google releases it to the OEMs and they have to do their thing with it. iPhones get an update once a year. The note 5 will most likely get its Android M update within a year of its release, maybe sooner. With this in mind, its not that different from an iPhone. People need to understand the fundamental differences between how updates work in iOS and Android. There are other differences, but I won't go into it now. I did in a previous post.

Sounds to me like you got a dud, because some of the things you say here are counter to what numerous others report.

If what you said was true, I would have already gotten rid of this device.

Ya. Wasn't asking for your help, but thanks. Just noting my experiences. Yes it's a great, beautiful phone. Well designed better than Apple's monstrosity. But there's little things here and there that wouldn't make me happy in the long run..

It wasn't meant as an attack, insult, etc.

People, this is an online forum, try not to get your feelings hurt, or angry so easily.

Anyway, you posted your experiences,in a public forum; which by its very nature invites a reply or rebuttal, however you want to look at it.

I pointed out your experiences are contrary to pretty much everyone, thus you probably had a dud phone. For example, the fingerprint scanner works great, for nearly everyone. Just like touch id. Thus you have a dude, a note 4 instead, or are not using it right. I was given you the benefit of the doubt in it being the former.

Some of the things mentioned on the list I don't do, everything else has been no issues especially the touchid and scrolling webpages.

I am done with the app refreshing testing for curiosity sake. I opened the same four games yesterday at the library with a WiFi connection and no refreshes switching back and forth.

I closed all of those and did my second test.
I opened Apple websiite, Nine Inch Nails, Yahoo, Theverge, and this forum. No refreshes.

I added Subway Surfers into the mix and played it for awhile. Went back to those websites afterwards and no refreshes.

Anyone want my specific Note 5? I promise I will not charge a large premium for this device with no refreshes presently in those tests. :)
