Had a weird thing happen on Verizon version as well the first day I got it. The screen turned a shade of red and started blinking over and over for about 30 seconds. I'm not making this up. Hasn't happened since to my att model. My brother has an att model and the first day he got it the screen turned black and blinked too so I know it wasn't just my phone. But again things seem OK today and yesterday after I rebooted my wife's phone. Next time it happens I'll try and record it
I wish you luck. If all fails t mobile version is good to go lol.

What would a note 7 be without carrier intervention? Hmmm

Just switched back to TouchWiz after reading these last few posts. It feels really smooth and snappy after using google now launcher for a while. Not that Google now launcher wasn't smooth but like I said, this phone was made for TouchWiz. Not other launchers. Also, am I the only one that's a sucker for uniform icons?

I was using TouchWiz for a few hours to see if it resolved any of yhe issues. Just can't use it given all the features of nova. I hate how I can't even move the app folder (unless I'm missing something).

Note7 Exynos loses again to 6s!

But it beats 6s with 10x more beatings...

2016 Gear VR review

^ It's that last video giving me second thoughts. Not the first one because software updates fixes over time. I want to get into 4K display already after not believing it much since Samsung let's us adjust to a lower resolution.

The Snapdragon 820 doesn't seem all that powerful either. Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 is kinda disappointing like the 810 was last year. Wait for the Note8 with 4K display instead? Maybe. Been on 2K for the last two years now. Ultra HD is next up to be the driving force of VR.

Arstechnica is complaining about price when back then, it was always about Samsung designs and build quality that reviewers whined about.

Screw it! Not getting an ugly iPhone 6s or 7 for a Note7. I will be as shallow as Apple users. Not going back to resolution from 2012-2013. LG V20, HTC Marlin, Honor 8, HTC 10, OP3, Mi 5, Axon 7, and any other device don't interest me at all. Note7 or wait for Note8. Just get the 7. Flaws or not, still the best of 2016.

Laugh of the day from Joshua "An Apple" Ho from Anandtech -

Overall, the design of the phone is acceptable, but honestly at this point it’s nothing really special. If you’re stepping up from a phone like the Galaxy Note 3 it’s going to feel nicer in the hand but really the design is just keeping up with competition like Xiaomi. I would argue that OnePlus and Google/Huawei have surpassed Samsung here as far as ID goes from a lower price point, and that both Apple and HTC have done better than Samsung for about the same price. We can argue about how Apple uses a plastic liner or whatever minute detail in the design is “better”, but something as simple as the camera lens is square even though a circular design would look less out of place due to the use of concentric circles. The IR LED, front facing camera, and iris scanner are visually unbalanced, and microphone holes are just not aligned in any sensible way. For all of the marketing bravado about symmetry and a focus on design, these kinds of things make it feel like Samsung is really just doing this to address press criticism rather than doing it out of some kind of internal push for improved design.

The Galaxy S6 was a massive leap forward for Samsung, and as we approach the end of year two for this design I think it’s time for Samsung to move forward once again. There are only so many ways to make a slightly rounded rectangle, but something other than the same curved glass and aluminum frame with physical home button would go a very long way towards refreshing the design. It’s easy to argue that Samsung’s strategy of mostly making the exact same design with a slight twist has worked for them for a very long time, but just looking at the past Samsung and other OEMs in the business usually only get about two generations out of a given ID before they need to refresh their designs. The edge display is pretty, but functionally it’s honestly at least mildly annoying because edge swipes don’t really work the way you’d expect them to due to the abbreviated edge on the Note7 relative to previous devices. This is obviously my opinion, but the Galaxy Note7 feels designed in a disjointed manner. The right pieces are generally in the right place, but if you look too closely the seams of not-quite symmetrical parts are still there. I found it hard to fault phones like the Galaxy S5 and Note 4 that were unabashedly functional, but this is a phone that tries to have some sense of style so it’s harder to be kind here. The Note7 isn’t going to make you sad when you take it out of the box and functionally there’s absolutely nothing wrong with this phone other than the strange ergonomics of the edge display, but if you look too closely you’ll notice the incongruities.

No you aren't missing anything. It's stuck there. I hate how I have to look at badges without using package disabler. Is that hard to use? Don't I have to go into ADB and all that jazz? Asking the general group.

Well I decided to buy a note 7 after playing with one at best buy the other night. Got on Samsung website and they don't offer a unlocked version yet. I was going to buy the ATT version because I figured being the same network it would work with Cricket but the Cricket site advised me that it may be locked for ATT. So, I guess I will have to wait. My original plan was to wait for the Iphone keynote guess I will just wait for that as planned.

Att phones work on Cricket, no unlocking needed and same with Verizon phones

Had a ton of lag with Samsung keyboard and much less with Swiftkey. Using google keyboard for the last few days and it's been mostly good. I don't think it's the keyboard to be honest I think it's that they keyboard lags when something else is going on in the background like downloading an app. Has been mostly good for the last 12 hours or so so I'm crossing my fingers

One setting I use that you might find useful is I set the Play Store app to not auto update apps. I update manually. I do this so it doesn't updare in the background, possibility causing lag.

My understanding is that all note 7 come unlocked and once a sim card is put in, it locks to that carrier. To unlock forever, you need to insert a sim card from a different carrier then you are prompted to enter a unlock code that will make it carrier unlocked forever.

This is what happened with my note 7 I bought from a Samsung experience store. No carrier apps on my phone using windmobile in Canada.

The manual updating is a good tip. Thanks. I'm going to switch cuz I like to know what apps get updated and what the update does. Sometimes they update and I just dismiss the Notification and never look to see if anyone's features were added

Interesting, I did a chat with Samsung people online and they did not give me that info. They also advised me to wait for the unlock version. Wonder if the store has different than online. Of course its possible that the online help don't know crap. haha

I also do that with the Galaxy store, it's default is to auto-update when connected to wifi.

I used to think Samsung phones were quite good but my lowly (and rather ugly) Moto G performs so much better than my wife's (admittedly modest) Galaxy S3 Mini, that I'm having my doubts. Actually, in this areas which all three machines can compete, I find my iPod Touch far more capable than either!

This is hilarious as they will ignore the fact that the iPhone 7 is exactly the same in design as the iPhone 6 and 6s. I can imagine them praising Apple for relocating the antenna lines

The strange ergonomics of the edge screen! Look samsung have pulled off a master class in design being able to fit a 5.7 inch display into such a small device. Whereas Apple made a blown up iPhone 6 for the plus model with massive bezels. Yet Anandtech say nothing about the ergonomics of the plus and won't when the 7 plus comes out.

I've cancelled my pre-order until I am 100% certain the UK Note 7 has software properly optimised to the hardware. The fact that it's not using a SD820 is a good start but I want to hear user experiences of UK devices first before pulling the trigger.

Yes, a 4k display would make a huge different in sharpness and clarity. I do experience noticeable frame rate drops, but it's only occasional and more so with specific apps/games. As far as seeing pixels, it's something you have to want to notice. And something I've only unintentionally noticed when my display wasn't clean enough.

I seriously hope the S8 comes with 4k resolution.

If you haven't noticed S6,7 and note 7 are exactly same design.

Question for Note users, or really any users of the latest touchwiz.

Is there anyway to get the adaptive display colors but disable adaptive display's 'adaptive' abilities?

I finally got the change to see a Note 7 in person. The default color profile looks way better (IMO) than any of the other profiles which all look really dull. BUT when I open up google play books I can immediately tell that the software is detecting an ebook reader and then turning the whole display yellow, which looks terrible and is redundant with functionality already present within that app (aka night mode and the sepia tone). Reading ebooks is a really important use for my phone so I'd like for these ebooks to look as good as they do on my Nexus 6p. But if I turn off adaptive display to one of the other profiles then all the colors just look off. None of the other display modes looked even close in terms of color vibrancy (I am a sucker for AMOLED colors).

Is there any way to disable the adaptive display's "smart" features on a per app basis?

Just read on XDA that Samsung Cloud doesn't restore everything like iTunes does. I asked that in a new thread and someone told me it did reinstall the apks but he had to resign into every app, for example. He didn't try games still.

Disappointing. I hoped for an iTunes backup solution for Android.

Samsung Cloud seems half baked. Hopefully with some updates, it will improve to match an iTunes backup. I would even mind if it can only be done via SmartSwitch app on a desktop.

I think if you set it to "amoled cinema mode" it'll give you what you want.
