I'm also noting apps sometimes open very slowly, like the titlebar of the app will come up, the rest of the screen is white like its loading and then it takes a good half minute to fully populate. So far this has happened with OneNote, Bluemail and just as I was typing this with ES file explorer. No idea, I think I'm going to do a factory reset tonight and see if it helps.

I found the 6s+ battery to be better than the Note 5 as well. Nothing scientific to back it up, I just always had more juice at the end of the day.
6s plus has been the best battery life on any phone I've had. Even on IOS 10 beta where battery life normally isn't great has lasted me from 6am till 22.30pm till needing to charge.

Yep they completely took away device maintenance.

This has happened to me twice so far. It happened once to my wife, with a subsequent auto reboot. I'm not sure if wifi was an issue, but you reminded me of another gripe. Samsung phones are terrible at handing off the wifi to cellular, hasn't improved on the Note 7. My driveway has weak wifi, but Samsung hangs onto it like there is no tomorrow. So when I program Waze in my driveway it always tells me there is no network, and I have to literally drive several blocks away so it registers that I'm on cellular.

Don't get me wrong I love the phone and am keeping it, but I really haven't seen Samsung step up and fix their software yet in all the time I've had Notes.

My Tmobile Note 7 does not have this issue. In fact, compared to my Iphone, the wireless to cellular and vice versa is immediate, not so with my iPhone. With my iPhone, I have to constantly reconnect. Also, the bluetooth is not as good. In my car, my samsungs all stay connected. My iphones all need to be set up, again.

That's bad. Often, I use this feature.

Regardless, the obsession with lag is getting pretty tiresome. Seems like we have the exact same discussions for every single major phone release. Why aren't we focusing more on what great things the phone can do vs. these picayune little incidents?
^^^^^ This^^^^ some are just obsessed with it. It;s true though that this happens with every new release.

Just wait until the iPhone 7 is released and visit the iPhone threads....it gets crazy too.

That's giving Samsung too much of a pass, IMO. Marshmallow has been out for nearly a year now so Samsung has had plenty of time to fine tune and optimize. It's using the same CPU as the Galaxy models, 2 phones that have been out for months also running Marshmallow and I don't recall hearing about these types of performance issues, or at least not until this degree.

I think some of the forum members here who are not Samsung's biggest fans are certainly trying to make more out of it than what's really there but at the same time, it's pretty clear some owners are seeing performance issues and considering the previously mentioned circumstances, I don't think Sammy deserves a pass either.

I don't think it's so much of an obsession but rather it's a real issue that sometimes greatly affects a users experience and the devices functionality and efficiency. At the end of the day the lag (mainly keyboard) I'm experiencing is nit enough to make the overall experience adverse but I do wonder how this phone is going to hold up given its performance over the first week. That said, this phone can and does do some absolutely amazing things. Part of it is Note specific and the other part Android specific. Ether way it's been a mostly positive experience.

Why, to pay for at&t's lovely packaging of course.
lol their packaging is so bad I returned the Verizon version which had come in a Samsung box everything nicely packed and the river all presentation was excellent. Att version looks like I bought a second hand device

I think it just goes along with the Note becoming a more mainstream phone instead of a powerhouse like it used to. In the past the Note was the most powerful phone you can get at the time of release, now it's pretty much on par with other top handsets while offering other cool features, like awesome camera, screen, and design. You no longer get the note because of speed, you get it because of those other features.

That being said, in benchmarks my Note ranks among the tops of android handsets, so it's more a software optimization, because the hardware is there.

It looks like you bought it from one of those really cheap Amazon dealers that just send your stuff in a plastic bag.

You think they'll fix the issues people are experiencing? If they do is that typically an update Samsung pushes out or AT&T?

Are people still having "lag" or "stuttering" issues on their Note 7?

How's it holding up?

Thinking of picking one up since BestBuy has a few available but seeing as how I'm pretty sensitive to how smoothly my software runs, figure I'd ask.

And users like yourself who actually own the Note offer much more useful insight than some in here clinging to occasional articles or meaningless concocted video scenarios simply for the sake of trying to knock Samsung down a peg. That's what I'm personally tired of seeing.

NOBODY is ever happy for some reason. Nobody. I've used cell phones since the Moto brick and have noticed this for years and years.

Yeah I hear ya. Gotta try the device and come to your own conclusion. iPhone gets such good press most of the time and my old 6 plus was a laggy POS and my 6s+ was just OK until iOS 10 beta 5 (which makes the device absolutely fly).

I actually own 2 Note 7's and am posting up my experiences about lag. I'd like to think my experiences aren't obsessive or useless. I agree that anyone who harps on a video they saw or word of mouth shouldn't have anywhere the same weight as someone who actually owns the phone. I know I vacillate between having your exact point of view and not really enjoying the device, but honestly that's how I feel with it. When it runs smoothly it's a complete dream, the superphone I've always dreamed of. But when it lags and has issues I feel like smashing it into the ground.

Anyhow wish me luck, I'm going to try and root it and see how it runs tonight.

I use older or low end phones myself, I couldn't imagine the crying and fits of rage people who nitpick over every little thing with phones would fill using my phones for a day. I am glad I don't obsess over that stuff, im am perfectly fine and able to use these phones without problem

I think they'll get it sorted out with nougat, it seems thats what they wanted to release with, but i guess they wanted to beat apple to market so they went ahead with marshmallow, i'm confident they'll have the update out fairly soon.

the carriers on the other hand........

Yeah, whens its running right, it feels super smooth and responsive. Its the slowdowns, though i don't think I'm experiencing them as badly as you are, that Samsung needs to address.

And good luck with the rooting!

There's a difference between obsessing over it and having issues that affect using the phone like freezing and things like that. At the end of the day all phones are gonna have hiccups but if there are widespread issues of major lag, wifi-cellular handoff, and things if that nature from users who actually own the phone then it's a true issue and not just whining. That said, some of us are probably more hyper sensitive than others especially when coming from an iPhone where there are rarely problems like we're experiencing (although the iPhone has other issues)

i think its because of how expensive the phone is that people are complaining about it. Though you really don't see much complaining from those who actually own the device.

The expense is part of it for sure. But even if it was half the price, I don't see something like the 6p freeze or lag like this, and that's even with a beta OS on it. I'd say I'm somewhat sensitive to it, I had some very minor lag here and there on my Note 5. But what I'm experiencing now kind of makes me now understand what others were talking about when they stated they had issues. This entire subject seems to be widely variable, and possibly it depends on which specific apps we have installed and on our personal configurations. It's similar to saying your PC is slow, there are too many variables and it may be impossible to track down.

I started having issues basically out of the box with very few apps installed and the ones that were just banking and finance apps

As I was typing my last response I was getting major keyboard lag and I noticed that something was downloading in the background which turned out to be an app update. Don't think this phone does well when anything is downloading in the background.

Yeah, I'm generally sensitive to lags too, but I haven't had any freezes, haven't had the keyboard lag (except when I restart, it takes forever for the keyboard to pop up), and I'm only seeing dropped frames when I scroll while it's loading. I have also noticed some games take longer to load than normal too. But overall, it's been positive for me, better then my note 5, which did suffer from the keyboard lag.

Wife's note 7 AT&T version wouldn't play YouTube videos just now on either wifi or cellular. And the phone was frozen on the YouTube app. Finally got the reset button to come up when holding down the power button and the phone tried to reboot and got stuck on a black screen with the first half of her Samsung pay credit card showing. Finally after about 2 minutes the phone rebooted and all seems fine. Something is definitely wrong with either the hardware on the phones or the software were running (whether Samsung software or third party). I'm going to switch off nova and use touchwiz and see if I have any better performance because the only apps we've installed have been mainstream ones
