They sound very accommodating which is good.Costco is pretty awesome, stopped by there today and they said they would do whatever I want. Cancel my Verizon plan after 14 days and full refund on my Note 7's, or simply exchange for iphones..
Instead of offering some special promotion for the Note 7 during this time to temper the iPhone market push, Samsung is busy putting out fires.
The ramifications are not going to be light. And I am confident it'll show in Samsung's numbers during the next report. Expect their sales to drop. And then expect some super deals during black Friday, cyber Monday, and the Christmas season.
And the whole recall process still has to go superbly for them to stand a chance of mitigating the damage. Tall order.
Unfortunately, I have to agree, to the point where I have doubts that the Note 7's reputation can recover. I think they're doing just about everything they can do now but even if they replace existing Note 7 customer's devices (those that didn't return them) in a timely manner, I just think future sales of the smartphone won't reach a level anywhere near what they saw initially or even what they'd have originally expected later in the year. I think those types of sales will be just to try to limit the bleeding, so to speak.
It's a real shame too as Samsung had made a great turnaround from their low point a couple years back and were putting some genuine pressure on Apple and the iPhone--a first for any competitor since the iPhone was introduced. I'm an Apple fan first and even my patience is starting to be tested...was really hoping to see Samsung's recent success light a fire under Apple.![]()
I don't think it'll be so bad that it'll tarnish the Note line like that. By the Note 8, Samsung should have this long sorted out, and if the product is good, they'll still make an impression.
I think the Note 7 sales is what will hurt most.
Samsung is still huge and doing some of the most interesting things in the tech industry. They'll recover. But in the near future, things are going to hurt for them. And deservedly so, in my opinion. They took a gamble and got burned. If it had worked, the Note 7 would have been another huge financial and critical success. Now it'll likely be mostly just critical success.
We'll see in there long run how the sales recover. It'll depend a lot on the recall program succeeding.
Those holiday sales are gonna be great. At the end of the day, once this is sorted out, one could still get arguable the best smartphone of the year much more affordably.
We don't know if they gambled, it's still too soon and they're still investigating. In the high stakes competition between Samsung and Apple it's hard to imagine they'd take a risk. While anything is possible, Samsung's not a careless company anymore than Apple is. Time will reveal the truth. They took a gamble and got burned. If it had worked, the Note 7 would have been another huge financial and critical success.
Take it to a Samsung shop in Europe?I am in Europe until the 28th. If the FAA were to ban it what exactly am I supposed to do?

Don't sell yourself short. I love Christchurch we were there last year on a holiday. In a few years time, when everything is finished construction it will be a lovely city.I live in Christchurch NZ, population around 400k. We have a Samsung kiosk in one of the malls and there's a Samsung commercial building in town too.
We are like the butthole of the world compared to Europe
Surely you can find a kiosk, store, branch somewhere? Tell them you are travelling and your phone may be banned.
If they don't help you, get their names and let them know you'll be contacting a news agency blah blah blah....
I'm sure you'll get help.

Anyway I highly doubt that a local clerk at a kiosk would be authorized to help me with a US T-Mobile phone, not to mention that even if they handed me a replacement it would be the non snapdragon version without all the US bands.
Yeah ... come to Ireland and you'll take back that claim
There are a could of small experience concession stores as parts of carphonewarehouse (not even stores in their own regard) in Dublin . But outside of the capital all you have is general mobile provider stores & general phone sale stores that unless you bought device from them wouldn't be able to help you and would advise you to have to do everything over the phone with Samsung Customer Support.
We don't even have an official Apple Store in Ireland ........
What's wrong with Ireland? It looks beautiful from what I have seen on tv/onlineYeah ... come to Ireland and you'll take back that claim![]()
