OK so somehow my phone got cracked. I haven't dropped it once to my knowledge. FML

How will that impact my recall?

Shouldnt make a difference really.
It can still potentially catch fire.
I dont think they'll take a chance, it'll get replaced, hopefully.

I'm curious...those of you that have returned your Note 7 and decided to get a new iPhone...why not get a S7 Edge? The praise for the Edge was near universal, it has almost exactly the same hardware and even better battery life.
Personally, I owned a S7 edge for a while. Great phone. But I don't fancy buying a phone twice.

my N4 was perfect for a few months than at some point, the scratches begin to appear. It's like the device had a clear coat of protection and then it went away. My N4 is now full of scratches. It may be related to my spa.. I watch a lot of videos while I'm in the spa, maybe the lithium affected the screen's resistance #spa-gate

I'm moving in one month, won't happen with the next one.

Not sure if I'm doing anything "right" so to speak. All I do is take my phone in and out of my pocket. No real extra care. Although, one thing I'm doing on purpose (that I would never do with a phone I'm keeping) is put the phone in a pocket that has keys or change in it. I want to see if I can get away with being a little careless. Regardless of how much it stands up to this little bit of roughing up, my replacement is gonna be wearing Spigen Rugged Armor case. For me, It's got the perfect balance of protection and minimal size.

I had to laugh tonight, I was driving home and got a recorded call for a "Costco safety recall alert" This very serious and urgent sounding guy proceeded to tell me that if I had a Note 7 to "immediately turn it off and bring it back for a full refund" I can imagine someone less tech savvy or familiar with the details of this freaking out as they heard that.

It's the price to be frank. Even with upgrading price your looking at €600-700 up front here with Vodafone on my plan.

I can't justify essentially the full price of another device on a subsidised one and I simply refuse to pay €1k for a phone.

For what I get extra over the 6S - it's not enough for me.
Really, when looking at it, there really isnt a great reason to upgrade if you already have a 6S other than the cameras. The screens are the same but a little bit brighter, performance is better, but is anyone really taxing the 6S as is it?

I kind of want to update due to the cameras, the jet black color, and added storage (reaching my 64gb limit on my 6S), but it's not worth the extra $1,000 for that. Though I was tempted to preorder yesterday, but luckily for me as soon as i got on delivery was already into late october for the jet black.

I will probably get one though as soon as i can find a good deal, but definately not worth the full price, especially when i already have a 6S.

Yeah, I just got a similar text message from at&t.

AT&T said:
AT&T Free Msg: For your safety, Samsung and the Consumer Product Safety Commission strongly urge you to immediately power down and stop using your Samsung Galaxy Note7 due to fire issues that have been reported. Visit your nearest AT&T store to replace your Galaxy Note7. For more details go to att.com/note7

And as I was typing that i recieved an email from Samsung with the subject line "Power down your Note7 and exchange it now".

Well, I looks like ill be going to the at&t store tomorrow.

The displays are completely new and it features a new quad core chip.

Can't wait to try the dual camera, the guy responsible for the 808 and 1020 pureviews is apparently behind the iPhone 7plus dual camera setup.

I finally decided with an official CPSC recall pending and an email from Samsung begging me to return it immediately to hand mine over last night. I was sad about is as I looked over the beautiful design of that phone. The store recommended I switch to a Galaxy S7 edge. I like it and decided on a gold one. Since Verizon does the yearly upgrade plan on all of the flagship Samsungs I'll just run this S7 edge until the next generation of Notes come.

The Note 7 is really a beautiful phone, but this edge is nice. Maybe next time it will work out or I'll just grab a cheap Note 7 refurb in a few months. Those will be everywhere!

Seems like there are lots of people who are switching to alternative devices, more so than keeping / holding onto the N7 (on fora at least) which whilst completely understandable could be a real grindstone for Samsung if N7 sales are very badly affected (and there is a safe bet they will be). I was talking to Vodafone customer support last night and whilst they are going to be swapping units for customers here, they have become increasingly cagey about when and more importantly 'if' the N7 will be available in stores going forward.

Time will tell, it wouldn't surprise me if we see a third SKU 'stylus' version of the S8 launched with the standard and edge S8 next year and that replacing the Note line.

Yeah, I'm noticing that as well.

I'm not sure how Samsung can whether the storm, heck... at this point they are climbing a avalanche. The Note7 would have been a annoyance for Apple with their decision to forgo the audio jack & keep the same design.

Many, and I mean many people would switch to the Note7 for the iPhone7, but now due to this recall. I'd assume most iPhone users will stand pat. And wait for the new design in '17. Since I highly doubt Apple will bring back the audio jack.

I agree with you.
Consumer confidence in the note 7 and by extension the note line will not recover from this recall.
Samsung might have to write off the note 7 this year and it could be the end of the note brand going forward.

So an S8 with a stylus is defiantly plausible.

Samsung cannot even pass along blame. It was Samsung Sdi's fault.

I wonder is if half of what has been sold returned?

That one guy who had his Jeep caught on fire did not even know about the recall.

Yeah it's the association. For example on a techspot on a national talk-radio programme today they were talknig about the iPhone 7 and went on to mention Samsung and whilst they were complaing over the price of the iPhone 7 they went on to refer to the Note 7 as the exploding phone. Now those with a little more gadget know will understand what the samsung recall is and the situation in more detail, but for general public all they are assosicating the Note 7 with is exploding. If it just becomes irrevacbly associated with that to the general consumer - it could indeed potentially sully and mar it going forward. It's a shame such a promising device and likely one of the best android phone that could have been released this year has had this major stumbling block, especially after the failure to release the Note 5 in Europe last year, this stumble on what should have been a shining 'relaunch' is a real calamity for their marketing / pr.

Yeah, this is why I think it's time they work with the 'official' authorites and start putting out advertising in National newspapers and such regarding the recall. Of course though again from a PR perspective, it would likely kill the device going forward if they were forced to advertise the recall on a wider scale.

I can't wait to try the camera too. My IP7+ will be here at the end of the month.

Everything I'm watching on YouTube and the people around me seem to be deciding to sticking with their Note. Some even going as far as not wanting to even get the replacement. Which I would call irresponsible. And people around me are actually looking at this as a chance to possibly pick up a Note cheaper than they would have been able to. Like I said, people don't care about recalls. Even ones that have actually killed people. Deadly recalls haven't hurt Lexus or cars with bad airbags. Honestly don't think anything will come if this. They'll definitely take a sales hit, but nothing lasting to next generation. Like I said, my dealer said nobody came in to switch their Note. Not a single person.

It's a wonder he didn't know. I have gotten 4 texts and a handful of emails from TMO and Samsung.

Everyone I know at work that has a Note 7 has no desire to go to a different model after the recall.

It then makes me wonder with all the negativity.. Samsung replaces the affected Note7 users... And wash their hands over the Note7. Afterwards, do they even update it to Nougat?

Why would Samsung put in all that effort to update or support the Note7 might be officially off the shelves?

Mine too.
Demand is insane.
Demand is insane....more than I thought it would be. The blacks colors shipping dates are all being pushed way out.
Either there is more public demand for the iphone than what was reported or Apple underestimate the demand and supply is short. Or...we just go through this every year with iphone releases! :)

This wont affect most who prefer android/Note to begin with and have already bought the Note but this will seriously hurt potential Note buyers

Samsung is officially telling users to stop using their phones immediately.
Believe what you want, this is unprecedented.
Thinking there will be minimal to no repercussions is foolish at best.

To be fair.

I think when Apple pushes more colors. The new colors are sought after more... I remember when they introduced the Rose Gold. It was hard to get.

Even with new models.. that 6 Plus 64GB was hard to get. I actually camped out for that... Since they were reports of shortages.

Never like this. I ordered three iPhones and not one will be here before the 27th.

The black iPhones are severely constrained with delays reaching November/December, and those only come in 128 gb and 256gb

The increase in price has almost no impact on demand.
