This is pretty neat if it's true. I just can't believe Apple is falling further and further behind in the smartphone game. I hope Apple will be bringing out their biggest phone innovations later this year with a totally new iPhone, if it doesn't want to be overshadowed. Personally, I love the competition.

I'm really looking forward to what S4 will be packing!

If it works consistently, it could be nice. However, I foresee some serious usability issues: It won't work in the dark, probably won't work well with other people around watching your phone, etc.

The magic of Apple is that they have technology for a purpose. Do I NEED to have eye scrolling? Nope. It is a wizz-bang feature that will get them some initial sales, but if it doesn't work well, they're going to have a big user/media backlash to deal with.

It's a feature that is going to eat up battery. With a 5 inch screen at 1080p it won't be worth it when you have to charge it every 30 minutes. Iphone has a retina display and easily fits in the pocket. All these large screen phones require a suitcase to carry and look absolutely ridiculous plastered to your ear.

You're comparing a smartphone which hasn't even been released yet to the iPhone-- which has been on the market since September.

I'm also excited to see what the new S4 offers. Eye scrolling sounds like a good idea, but we'll see if its actually useful. Siri sounded great at first too but no one I know actually uses that feature either.

Apple is coming up with the feature where phone will do "mind reading".

Like ...just think about closing the app..app will be closed.

Think about launching the Music app for and play song...it will happen.

I think that will be really cool!! :D

I bet it won't look nearly as ridiculous as your post does.

This thread was moved from the main forum wasn't it.

Smart stay works in the dark. Face unlock which works with the same tech also works with multiple people looking at your screen.

You don't need a touch screen by the way.

No, it doesn't. Smartstay does not work well and I can see another useless feature like this with eye scrolling.

Another tick that would be mind blowing if Apple implemented it, yet is "meaningless" when the competition thinks of it.

If it works it will be great, but a lot of the features like smartstay Are not that good because they fail a lot.

Retina that has been outclassed for a while now, and seriously how tiny are your pockets? Even the S3 isn't that much bigger than an iPhone 5, so unless you're wearing Apple iJeans where the pocket is the exact dimensions of an iPhone you'll have no trouble pocketing the device. I can fit my Nexus 7 in my jeans pocket, my work pocket, it fits in my friends jeans pocket.

The whole "I'll need a suitcase to carry my phone" was never funny yet it gets regurgitated by people who will do anything to assert that the iPhone is the perfect size for everyone in the World because Apple said so.

What is the practical gain for users in having progressed beyond the ability of the human eye to discern pixels at viewing distance on the 3.5" to 5.8" phone screen?

Sounds great if it works, but how will it work? If you're reading to the end of a page/bottom of the phone, and then dart your eyes back to the top of the phone to check something you've read, how will it react?

Do you have inside tech info or are you just assuming it will eat up the battery? The S3 already keeps the screen on if you are looking at the screen, doesn't seem to be a huge battery hog.

Features like this aren't for everyone, but some people will definitely use it. and maybe the first gen might suck, but it will get better in time.

What really has me scratching my head here isn't which company would do it better- I'm just shocked that Apple hasn't really had any great original ideas lately. Everyone used to rip on Samsung for copying Apple, and I believe they did in a lot of ways. But it's clear that while they used Apple as a launching point, they have been innovating like crazy and most of their newer cool features were never even on Apple's radar. There are obvious exceptions, of course.
