my stroller costs more than a used car i owned a long time ago. like $1200 with all the accessories including a cup holder for my starbucks.

nothing much to do while walking the kid for an hour other than killing time on my phone. even though he knows how to unclip the seat belt he never does it
Bug-a-boo? Love it. Ahh don't mention Charbucks and their over roasted burnt stale beans (it's their sweet syrups that make the coffee tolerable). Get a good espresso machine and grinder for home and you'll put Charbucks to shame, even saves money (my setup was over a grand too) with the crazy prices they charge, helped a friend buy hers as she was at *bucks 1-2 times a day which came out to about 2 grand yearly. I get fresh roasted beans in constantly mmmmmm. Ok back on topic lol...

try pushing a baby stroller or hold the kid with one hand and use a phone with both hands

You do know that the keyboard on an S3 is at the bottom of the screen so it is very easy to do as you say above one handed. (if one wished)

As far as Im concerned this is a non issue, the only time it would prove problematic is if an app was in the top left corner of the screen, in which case I would tap the icon with a finger on my other hand. Just because the screen is larger doesn't mean that nothing can be achieved one handed. just another misinformation smokescreen.

Your mileage may vary

Agreed. The way I use my S3 has changed somewhat from my 4S. I don't ever connect to Wifi anymore b/c LTE speeds here in Tampa are just as fast (25-30Mbps down/ 20 up and I have unlimited data). I assume the LTE radio drains battery a bit faster than WiFi. I find myself using the phone a lot more now too thanks the the faster LTE...I am pulling up random information from my phone rather than hopping onto a nearby computer to google something. Plus the larger screen has increased the usability. So it's hard to judge but I def have to charge more often than my 4S.

Who is your carrier, if I may ask?

Unless you have Sprint...and I guess now T-Mobile...there really is no such thing as unlimited access even if Verizon and AT&T claim you have it.

After you go through 3GB of "unlimited data" they throttle your connection.

Interesting you bring that up.

My friend, who is a former iPhone 4 owner, just bought the S3.

Says the display burns up battery life significantly.

However, he is also saying that he has learned that Samsung is preparing a software fix for that.

Can anyone confirm?

All displays burn up battery life, however Pentile screens preserve it better than IPS screens.

But whomever said Samsung is putting out a software fix due to bad battery life on all S3's is full of crap. The 4S battery life doesn't come close to what the S3 can do given similar parameters on each phone. <- And that is the key, right there. The S3 can do so much more and has more hardware built in that it CAN run out of battery quickly. I. E. Download and watch a movie simultaneously on LTE on the S3. Watch the battery go quick. iPhone can't do this.

So it all depends on how you use your phone that determines the battery life, whether it is a BB, LG, iphone, S3, One X or even a dumb phone.

The next iphone is going to get a lot of complaints about battery life, especially those in LTE capable areas. In fact, I bet some idiot consumers will try and sue Apple over it because Apple didn't warn them that LTE significantly decreases battery life.

Even throttled, it is still a lot faster than 3G and most wifi. They may throttle him to half speed, still will be friggin fast!

You don't need to use any hands with the S3. Texts, emails, documents can all be taken care of hand free. Google Now is out to, which to me is on par with Siri (for giving info). IPhone is still better with Siri because of built in integration with calendar, text and email. But responding to give you info. Same. Although Google Now offers responses in US units vice both imperial and metric. It also gives you cards that pop up for drive times, traffic, sports info, etc... Nice feature.

That is incorrect as far as Verizon goes.

For one thing, they don't throttle LTE users.

As for 3G users, they only throttle the top 5% users who are on the unlimited plan, and even those only when necessary on a congested site so that all can share. Otherwise, no throttling takes place.

The S3 came out quite a few months after 4S, so naturally its going to be better.

The 5 will be the one to compare to the S3, not the 4S.

The 5 will come out quite a few months after the S3. So? Right now you compare top of the line, to top of the line. Not our fault Apple has trouble making one single phone every 12 to 18 months. So maybe we should compare the 5 to the S4?

Thank you for your answer, I was just pointing out what I think is the overuse of the one handed argument that I often see quoted, it seems that users think that one handed texting is nearly impossible with the S3, I was just trying to rebuff what amounts to misinformation. I look forward to using Google now.:D

the 5 and the S3 will have the same generation of CPU's

I haven't seen anything on exactly what cpu Apple is basing their new iPhone cpu chip on (I'm assuming Apple is calling it the A6 and not A5X.a)??? But who knows. If it is the same A5X as seen in the ipad3, it will already be behind the S3 and HOX. If they do use it, I can only guess they did it to save battery life since the battery size is only 10mA more. Sacrifice power and speed for battery life? This is another reason I love my S3... I am never low on power. Can always pop in a fresh battery. I prefer performance.

I'm really impressed with the SGS3 battery life. This Sunday a new firmware showed up OTA and I've clearly noticed that battery has improved once again.

It's better than my old iPhone 4, specially considering the 4.8 screen!

Battery life is awesome.

I'm not sold on the A5X being used. It doesn't really make any sense.

The A5X has the beefy GPU for running the Retina Display but the iPhone simply doesn't need to push those pixels.

I'm expecting more of a push forward in integer performance and more modest increase in GPU.

That should carry over nicely into next year when OpenGL ES 3.0 becomes the standard and nextgen GPU cores from Power Imagination become available.

No, but something needs to be improved, and if you overpower the CPU on an LTE device with something like quad-core, say goodbye to that battery.

I fully expect the A5X to be used on the iPhone 5, and so should you.

Smaller 32nm process means a smaller TDP. Apple has options. Go for a larger GPU (but current GPU performance is fine IMO) or crank the clock speed up for more integer performance or keep the same clock speed and add more cores. I'm not thinking the LTE will be all that much of a power drain at 28nm.

Actually T-Mobile has just realeased a true Unlimited data plan. No limit, no trottling. $30 with a classic plan, $20 with a Value plan.

Do note that Google Now is not available to all countries or devices yet. I know the damn Google Music isn't available in Canada yet.

Damn Telus's black heart, haven't seen sign of ANY OTA updates here in Canada.

is this jelly bean or ICS?

too bad my droid pro is on 2.3 and will never get ICS. and even then 2.3 is most of the installed base

and even then my iphone 4S was doing this last year when the source code for ICS had just been released

Shame...

Taking into account what we *think* we know what the iPhone 5 will look and run like, I still can't come to a decision whether to switch over to the Galaxy 3.

The biggest hindrance is integration. I need all my mail, contacts and calendars to sync flawlessly.

I also have a lot of App Store apps I would be giving up.

That's why so many people have switched over to Google for mail, contacts, calendar, etc.

It's been great over the years to be able to pick up any kind of device, WebOS, Windows Phone, iOS, Android... just enter my id and bam! everything is sync'd up and stays sync'd between devices.
