Could tell enough to notice the fat bezels...

It's very possible a casing over it. The Galaxy S3 leaked with a casing over it. It's a security measure to prevent people from seeing it.

Or it's the S4. What do I know.

We'll find out March 14th.

I'll say this to everyone though...

Anyone gonna jump ship come March 14th? The specs (rumored) are quite impressive. I imagine, size wise, it won't be any bigger than the S3. But a 13 megapixel camera? Yikes!

As tempting as it will be to move on to the the GS4, I think I'd rather have Key Lime Pie hopefully a month later.

That is why I plan on keeping my Nexus 4 and selling my iPhone 4S when the GS4 comes out. I know I will want features on the S4, but I will also want to try out Key Lime Pie.

But another thing I have been thinking about is that the S4 will be extremely popular. Which means it won't take long for CyanogenMod on Key Lime Pie to come out on the S4 since so many people will have it.

But no ill be staying with my iPhone 5. Gave Android several tries and it just didn't work out. The upcoming HTC One does have very impressive build quality and hardware design though.

Pretty much this. As good as Android has gotten, it's still not where it needs to be for me to adopt it as my operating system of choice.

Yeah, that's what I wound up doing last year with the GS3. I moved to the GS3 from the Galaxy Nexus, and had to wait for a custom rom to come out with stock Jellybean (and eventually cyanogenmod). Of course, the roms never quite function the same as the real stock rom though. This time around, since I'll probably only have to wait another month, I figure I'll just stick with my N4.

Doesn't the fragmentation bother you guys? Not knowing if you will even get an update, or having to jump through hoops with different rooting mods.

not really because the jelly bean software is still a pretty good one and you know the latest update will come at some point..it simply works so getting an update straight away I don't think is a must.

At this point I think of galaxy as a primarily Samsung phone with an android fork and access to google services.

Which is not so bad. Their tw enhancements were very good when I had the gs3. And amazon showed one not need to be linked tightly to google to be successful.

I am infant starting to appreciate samsung's android more than google's android.

I don't think I'll be getting the Galaxy S4. I currently have a Galaxy S3 and think it is a great device but my initial plan when switching to Android was to go with the Nexus line for both my tablet and smartphone. I didn't get the Galaxy Nexus because it was very much outdated at the time I bought the S3 but with Google I/O coming I think we can expect either a new smartphone (the rumoured "X Phone"), a spec bump for the Nexus 4 or both and as such it would be an opportunity for me to switch to a Google/Nexus smartphone with the same benefits of my Nexus 7.

I am also not too hot for Samsung as a company at the moment, they have been rubbing me the wrong way as of late, their blatant rip off of Apple's Passbook being the latest offence. It is also virtually certain that since they are such a big OEM they will end up pushing their own Tizen OS with their own ecosystem including all the Samsung apps/services (S-Voice, Samsung Wallet, their store for video, music and magazines, cloud storage, email, browser, etc). I am personally not interested in any of that or in Samsung seeking to replace services and functionality that Google includes in Android by default. I trust Google (and Apple), I don't trust Samsung.

I would personally love to see more Android phones go metal. I saw a drop test on Android authority between the S3 and the iPhone 5 and the S3 didn't do very well. Sure, scratches were more apparent on the aluminum back of the iPhone compared to the plastic on the S3. But that is not nearly as big of a deal as a shattered screen. And the aluminum construction of the iPhone helped it keep its shape when it fell, making it more difficult for the impact to shatter the screen. However, the plastic on the S3 made the frame deform easier and thus cracking the screen easier. And personally, I would much rather have a scratch on the back of my phone rather than a shattered screen.

But either way I will probably end up getting a case anyways. But it would be nice to feel more confident without a case if I decided to go that route.

Lol. Competition is bad. Do we have to be chained to apple and google forever?

If Samsung is developing their search, mail, social, mobile software, cloud services categories, it is great as it gives us more choices.

I like where Samsung is going. They have the momentum currently, the mindshare, and the ability to pull it off.

Before the galaxy series, no one cared about android in many places. Now I go out and everyone has a galaxy. I had one too, and guess what, it was the only phone that was able to pull me away from the iPhone for a long time, not even the mighty nexus can do it.

I guess it is customary to hate on companies as they grow and get popular or start going the consumer way instead of promising a geek's paradise.

Where did I say that competition is bad?

As far as hating companies as they grow popular, nope. I've used and loved Apple for almost 20 years and during that time they have grown and got popular and have gone the consumer way and I am still all over them.

I wouldn't take much notice of drop test results unless they perform the droptest a large amount of times. Doing a one off drop, both handsets would have fallen differently.

Cant understand all the hatred for plastic! Means I can use my phone without a case without worrying about it getting a few scratches. A new back for a few ££ and its as good as new!

Fair enough.

But I don't see how Samsung developing their ecosystem is a bad thing, except for pro-google people. The more the merrier.

I hope it is not the slippery kind though. I don't use cases and using the gs3 in landscape got dangerous at times. Slipped out three times in one sitting lol.

Galaxy nexus is plastic too but the back is so much easier to grip....

So true!

We will know Samsung has really arrived when there is a sub-forum "Alternatives to Samsung Touchwiz and Samsung devices"

:)

Okay. But I've never owned a phone with a 13 megapixel camera personally. Hence my comment. Why didn't Apple include such a feature on the iPhone 5 if it's no big deal? Plus, I love Sony for things like the PS3 and DVD players or TV's, but not for a cellphone.

Because Megapixels only allows you to have a bigger photo, not a better one. It's about the lens/light sensor. Heck the New HTC One only has a 4 Megapixel camera, they're using what they call "Ultrapixels"
