I know I don't bother toggling anything on or off on my iPhone - simply leave it all on because the battery can handle it.

Not true with my Nexus 4 where I'm constantly watching my wifi/BT usage and location access (JuiceDefender takes care of most of it for me now).

Quick Toggles would be nice, but ultimately not really all that necessary.

I've been confused on the quick reply thing - I thought they had implemented something like that in iOS 6 though that may have only been for calls....regardless, I don't see a quick reply system in the stock Android messenger either and both have alternatives available on their respective app stores. iMessage alone makes up for pretty much any other messaging deficiency in iOS for me...

Plus, Siri can always send a text for you ;)

You are right about quick reply. It can be added, but is not in stock android. I think key lime pie and ios7 will both add this.

Imagine this is all a controlled leak by Samsung? And the real S4 is not what we've been seeing? Wouldn't that be something.

: chuckles :

I'm very interested. I dabbled a little with android the last couple of years but my apps kept making me come back.

Worst part is I know I get a raw deal with the iPhone upgrade every year but I still do it like the apple retard I am.

Hoping this year I can maintain the integrity to bite the bullet

There's really no better time than now to make the jump. Android (and Samsung in particular) is just exploding.

I thought exactly the same thing earlier. Thing is, I wouldnt actually put it past them either. Certainly a good way to keep the actual Galaxy S4 a secret. Only 1hr 40 and we will find out!

Any apps in particular that kept making you go back?

You would have to jailbreak and use bitesms, which blows the stock messenger out of the water.

Thanks guys. Was hoping there was something that didn't require jailbreaking.

LG and HTC are making a serious effort also If they can do well this year, I'd consider one of their phones for my next upgrade as well.

Since all anyone here is doing is waiting for the S4 announcement anyway, can you explain Quick Reply to me?

Essentially you receive a text and a prompt pops up with some pre-made replies....essentially like what iOS 6 added to the call menu, except with texts as well?

:T

I've lost a lot of faith in LG after owning the Nexus 4 and getting three devices with really poor call quality issues. I know of others, personally and anecdotal having experienced the same call quality issues. Just don't trust LG anymore.

And HTC... well, the "decent/average" battery life I keep reading about the One concerns me. The One X got reviewed with "good" battery life too, and it didn't. It had anything but good battery life. It was downright horrendous. Plus HTC's other historical no-no is their lack of reliability with updates and some poor design decisions (repositioning of the home button, the far away power/wake button) turn me off from the device, beautiful though it may be.

But generally speaking, the Android competition is heating up, for sure.

No pre made replies.

When you're using your phone, if someone texts you, a popup appears on the screen where you can either dismiss the message or respond back. You don't have to leave the app and go to the message app to respond and then close and reopen what you were viewing previously. Same for the home screen. You can quick reply directly from the home screen without having to unlock your phone.

For people who text often (which is a lot of people). It's very convenient and a time saver. You can adjust the settings/privacy (for lockscreen) as well.

Everything f123d said. You can type like a normal text and do not have to rely on a preset phrase like the iOS call reply. Google bitesms images. I use to jail break for that alone.

Damn I am excited about this release. I own an S3 and cannot upgrade for a while yet, but still, I think the S4 is going to be huge.
