I was reading through all of the GS4 features last night and those two stood out to me as being very useful. Most of the other features I wouldn't likely use.

Samsung seems to just be throwing everything they can think of at the phone and seeing what is a hit. Apple waits to see what the biggest hits are with competitors products and then copies them and calls iOS the world's most advanced mobile operating system. I don't blame Apple for doing things the way they do, but I'm glad that companies like Samsung and HTC are at least trying to find new ways to do things.

Agreed. Someone's got to be pushing the envelope.

Any S III owners holding off upgrading? The S IV looks so much like its predecessor, its almost like a iPhone 4 to 4S upgrade. I think the S II to S III update was much more impressive than this one...

You think so?

I'm not an S3 owner but I think its a worthy upgrade simply for have a bigger and better screen and a bigger battery in a smaller package.

Isn't that more then the 4S to 5 right there? Granted the 5 got LTE which was a good upgrade vs the 4S but that's about it. Both get faster hardware so that's moot. Little thinner but I'd rather have same thickness with a bigger battery. Never mind thinner AND have a bigger battery like the S4!

Plus new features, only time will be able to tell their usefulness.

I just think the design is a move in the right direction with bigger screens and less bezel. If that isn't important to someone at all then their might not be a reason to upgrade.

I don't know how anyone can think of the S3 to S4 progression anything remotely close to an iPhone's 4 to 4S progression.

It may be something in the middle, but it's far closer to a 4S to 5 progression than anything else.

People should see the list below and note the change in screen size, resolution, significantly larger battery size, thinness, the addition of an IR blaster, less weight, different dimensions, new colors, etc.

Note also the whopping jump up in higher PPI despite a larger screen.

Amazon has dropped their price to £589. Still a little steep and makes the HTC One a more attractive choice

I agree.

IF the 5 got features the 4S didn't then maybe I would agree. But software wise the 5 and 4S are the same.

Seems the 5 got a bigger and SLIGHTLY better screen, more in design then quality. Whereas the the S4 got a SLIGHTLY bigger screen and is better. It's bigger then the iPhone 5 regardless if that is something important to you.

The iPhone 5 got bigger, the S4 got smaller.

The iPhone 5 got the same battery. The S4 got a bigger battery.

The iPhone 5 has the same software. The S4 has more features (good or bad don't know).

Not saying the iPhone 5 isn't a good upgrade but it only seems like a bigger screen and LTE are the differences between it and the 4S. Obviously its faster with more ram and better processor. But I didn't consider it a worthy upgrade from my 4S (FOR ME) so I'm probably gonna end up waiting till the 6.

I keep discovering new things:

You can choose a specific vibration pattern as an incoming call alert, just like you would a ringtone. A set of predefined patterns is offered, but you can make your own too. You can also assign a custom vibration to specific contacts.

Neat.

A tad redundant but cool none the less....Its one of those 'hey, why not' features.

You can do exactly that with iOS device though. Even create your own. I'm assuming you are talking about the S4 because that's a feature throughout iOS devices.

Amazing. I did not know that. iOS beat them to it.

To be perfectly honest I didn't either. I knew you could set alert vibrations to some different vibration patterns. So I wanted to check if you could do the same with ringtones. It wasnt until that that I noticed you could use custom patterns. I'll have to try to look it up to see when that was added.

I guess you just need to spend more time with iOS. :D
Did you know that there's LED notifications in iOS? I'll let you figure out how to activate it.

Lol. That's an accessibility option for the hearing impaired.

It's the camera flash so the phone needs to be face down to see it which already makes it useless as a notification light. It's better to see the screen light up for alerts.

It's not discreet, it will blind you in a dark room.

It only has one color.

It's not continuous so you'll be checking your phone anyway.

It might be fantastic for people that are hearing impaired however its terrible in every way compared to a notification light on other mobile platforms.

For example my Nexus 10 is sitting across the room. However I know I have a Facebook notification, a new email on my gmail account, a new email on my work account and the battery isn't low. I been away at work all day that's why I have so much missed. Now THAT is a notification light.

That's for impaired, and a very limited implementation. Doesn't come close to dedicated LED notifications.

I tried using the back led when apple first implemented it for notifications and it was absolutely horrible.

Oh yeah, the poor Apple design that will blind you in a car when you get a message and the whole indoor lights up.

Im going to get one though not right away.

In a way it is like a 4 to 4s upgrade but even then i think it is still on a much bigger scale than that.

Bigger screen, better screen, has more features even with the same OS(Apple has a whole new OS released to add better features with a new phone) and different features that it had not had before and features Apple still dont have. Hec iPhone 5 dont have features the GS3 has and the GS4 gets even more.

I like the split screen for doing two different things, no touch gestures and your eyes being able to stop video. Not to keen on the dual camera mode since i cant think of any uses for it.

The only reason it isnt released with KLP is because the Nexus devices are always the first to get the new OS.

Yes the GS3 was a bigger upgrade but it was a huge breakthrough for Android period with ICS over Gingerbread.

Not sure I would say it is exactly the same. On the iPhone you can only do it per-contact but on the S4 (like my Note 2) you can set one as the default vibration pattern globally.

Also I can set the vibration intensity, which I am glad I can.

It's been only on the iPhone since 2011.

Forget the accessories, I am 100% sure it will be selling for $550 for the 32gb one in a month after going live, like the previous generations.

I can sell my 5 month old iPhone 5 and get the s4 for no extra, super excited for the launch.
