I could be extremely dense. But in not showing a Visual Voice mail option?

also another picture. Is it spring yet?

not sure why they keep uploading all goofy and sideways

There is no natively integrated visual vm in Android--you need to use a third party option. Not sure where you're located but in the US, AT&T offers it in an app and Google Voice offers it as well (my preferred choice).

I have AT&T it was solid service in Tampa, now in Colorado it's pretty spotty except for denver. I'll have to Check out Google Voice, Do you use this instead of the Phone app?

Interestingly when I click on that photo it opens correctly.

The A/C is on here in sunny AZ. :)

Hmm, that is odd. it was taken in portrait, uploaded in portrait posted in landscape. :D

It was just 60-70s here this weekend-yesterday. Grrr.

Anyone ever try 3rd Party batteries from either of these brands?

http://www.amazon.com/Hyperion-Sams...883&sr=8-3&keywords=Galaxy+s4+battery+charger

http://www.amazon.com/2600mAh-Batte...919&sr=1-8&keywords=Galaxy+s4+battery+charger

Or have any recommendations? I haven't had the need to have a back-up battery yet, but i'm sure the day will come :)

I went to see the S4 at the Att Store and the first swipe of my finger on the screen gave me a very nice lag... That thing was lagging like cracy..

You're holding it wrong :p

I have this happen on my iPhone and Galaxy sometimes too. Just go to edit photo, do a 360 rotation, save and it should come out normally.

Honestly, that's not a fair test. Devices in carrier stores are being handled and used all day long by tens of people. Apps are open and memory is being pushed to the limit.

Clear everything out of multitasking and then try it. I'd bet it's much smoother.

Just taking a wild guess, but it probably had heaps of apps running in the background tons of features turnd on etc. Mine isn't as smooth as my i5 but definitely not continuously laggy

"The decision boils down to 'does a much superior camera outweigh all the other plusses and minuses of both devices."

MRU, I have been following your decision dilemma and have read and re-read your latest pro/con opinion of both phones. I am especially interested because I am on the fence about which one to get with my upgrade.

I may be wrong but I get a strong sense that while you "want" to love the S4, you are really drawn to the One.

I think you probably need to ask yourself how long you normally keep a phone before changing? Are you really going to need to take stellar photos for 18 months, or can you perhaps use your digital camera for those really special occasions that come up?

I think the features that seriously attract you to the One are the ones that you will be using a lot, on a daily basis. A good strong ringtone is at the very top of my priority list, for example.

Just my two coppers :). Now, I need to go the store and play with both and see which one "speaks" to me!

How easy is it to put these roms on and do they mess up your warranty ? I regularly post on XDA but roms make my head spin, even the easy start guides need a degree to understand. It just looks tricky and highly confusing, especially if you are on a mac.

It's not too hard. I have a Samsung Captivate that I just shook the dust off of because I'm going to trade it in for $100 off the S4 or the One promotion ATT has going on and I remembered I had loaded up Cyanogenmod with Android 4.2.1 on it, it was just a matter of rooting it, installing a custom recovery, then flashing the ROM. You just have to be careful and make sure whatever mod you are installing has lots of testing and users. I'm still quite impressed how well a modded 4.2.1 ROM runs on a 3 year old phone.

I forgot how much I like Cyanogenmod though, really a great ROM. As for phones I'm kind of veering towards the One, I've always wanted real speakers in a cell phone, or at the very least ones that face forwards like any logical speaker should, and the daytime visibility is a big deal. Anyhow I will probably go to ATT at lunch tomorrow and fondle them both.

Held the S4 tonight. The back of the Black mist could not be any uglier! That silver shiny crap makes a plastic device look even worse! I literally laughed at how cheap it looked.

HTC One is the undisputed king of smartphone beauty!

Agreed.. if I were to buy an S4 I couldn't get past that ugly pattern. Never been a huge fan of the poly carbonate body, but the phone does feel nice in the hand.

Well... the iPhone 5 at the Att store too under the same circumstances and it doesn't lag at all...

Surely you're aware you are comparing 2 different operating systems, and that iOS handles multitasking a bit different

Yes.. I know but under the same circunstances and heavy usage the iPhone still feels smooth. That's comparing it to a phone that is Quad core with 2GB of ram.. vs. the iphone's specs

Out of curiosity how much screen time made up that?

A solid 4-5 hours screen time at the very least, I work in a building in which my phone is always struggling to find service, so it drains quite a bit more then others im sure.

Also I have my brightness up fairly high, and push notifications on for all my apps... should probably turn those off

Some people make no effort to test a phone properly, nor do they know what the truth is. Complaining about lag with an abused demo phone serves only one purpose. To give the haters a reason to post entries like this.

It's obvious they have nothing better to do.

Hey.. I just shared my experience.. never said I was going to give a full review of the phone. I just said what I experience by walking into an ATT store and play with the S4 a bit. Maybe because I have other things to do is why I just walk into the store for a few minutes to see the phone.

Picked mine up today! I love it, the learning curve is pretty crazy coming from the Nexus 4, but like with all new phones (other than an iPhone) that's common.

I do have one question so far, one of many probably, lol. Is there a way to get rid of the "Wi-Fi Connected" thing in the notification drop down? I don't care that its connected to Wi-Fi, that's what the little icon in the status bar is for. It's messing with my 1Weather info.

Insecure much?

I've got the phone, there ARE stutters and at times lag. No point denying it, its just truth. Is it VERY laggy ? No.

The lag traces are there and they tend to be random. Odd application that takes few seconds to load, or react. Transitions and animations that stutter at times.

All of these instances are down to Samsung and its Touchwiz implementation.
