What are your thoughts so far?
I honestly don't see much of a difference. Performance is still the same; smooth and fast. I'm pretty sure 5.1.1 brought changes and new features but I haven't noticed or discovered them ... yet.

I think you might see a slight increase in battery performance. Better memory performance.

Yeah it can't harm. Might just be a quirk after a firmware update.

Let us know how you get on :)
Thought I would post an update. I reset the phone and added fingerprints again. There recognition is better now, if say about 85% if the time I get in on the first try. Recognition speed I feel is slower than before compared to touch ID.

When I first got the edge I could have sworn it was neck and neck with my 5s. Now it's a good second slower to get to the home screen after pressing and hold (to wake the phone)

Mainly it's just me nit picking probably. I wish they would do a GPE version.

It's strange that you're experiencing issues with the fingerprint scanner. I have heard and read from many users and reviewers that it is very quick and accurate. I personally have never tried it since I prefer PIN for lock type.

I only use my thumbs to unlock my S6. I add each thumb twice. I hold them a little differently for each thumb so it will register differently and maybe get a better response. It works pretty well but it is still not as good as touchid on my 6+.

It can be finicky.

For example my left thumb (left handed) the S6 Edge and the Note 4 /S5 / alpha all struggled with. My left index finger no problem. My right thumb again 95% of time no problem but my left thumb would fail about 80% of the time.... Just doesn't like the thumb print on it - yet my iPhone & iPad doesn't mind it.

So there's definitely an element of user variables that also contribute to how successful the finger print scanner works.

On the S6 (and Note4/S5 etc before them) I did find it was almost better to scan your main finger or thumb twice - for me this increased reliability of reading.

I'm pretty sure you are going to have an option on startup to transfer from an older device but wait for a response from MRU, he knows about Android devices more.

Yeah you should be able to transfer everything over but your still downloading the content from the App Store. What your basically telling it is your layout / folders / what apps you've purchased/downloaded as well as your accounts like email & Samsung account .. It doesn't actually physically copy app content rather than just app settings so it still takes a while to download all your apps and such.

And congrats matey, I knew you would fail to resist temptation especially as it's been a few months since you got tablets to ease the tech cravings :D

Not in the UK but 5.1 rolled out in Europe about 2 weeks ago I think. But that does not mean that every single S6 edge received the update. Some are still waiting. I just received it a few days ago even though it was initially released here about 3 weeks ago. But I have a feeling you'll get an update notification as soon as you turn on your device :)
