I'm old enough where I developed my watch wearing preference before I relied on smartphones so I'm actually one of the few that feels naked if I leave the house without a watch on my wrist.

I definitely like watches. I'm still unsure of a smart watch for other than when I workout. The Apple watch is the only one im aware of that can store music locally but I think generation 2 might be the better buy.

Well 10 days with my Z3 and I'm ready to get rid of my S6 Edge. Love the edges aesthetics but prefer the user experience on my Z3 and I'm getting far superior battery life. I was never able to get the battery life you guys get and my performance is still not as consistent as my nexus or Z3 so it's time to move on.

Will keep the money I make selling the edge put aside for whatever new temptation comes along, but right now I'm very happy with the Z3 overall.

This really shows how great all the devices are and how personal preference really is the differentiator, as we can all agree that the S6 is a great device, but so far you, me , and Jamzr have already moved on from the S6.

My Urbane can store music locally but it's limited to syncing through Google Play Music and you don't really have much control over what's synced to the watch. If I understand correctly, you need to download music locally to the phone and it'll then sync to the watch, however you cannot select further...it automatically syncs whatever is downloaded.

The Apple Watch isn't perfect either but you can create a specific playlist to be synced with the watch, up to 2GB.

Ah I didn't know that with the urbane. Yeah basically for the Apple watch it'd be for me working out and being able to listen to my music while its tracking my fitness (I know without the iPhone it'd have to wait to sync)

Can you give us an overview as to why you're giving up on the Edge? What's better about the others and more importantly the Z3?

It's pretty much software related. It has a consistent GUI aesthetic that sticks to Androids material footprint to the point where elements are very Nexus like, but then offers all the customisation we come to expect.

But in doing so, it manages to keep its memory footprint low resulting in amazing multitasking performance which means in day to day use the device feels as fast or faster than devices that benchmark higher or feature newer processors.

It honestly feels snappier than my Edge in every day use and the edge was and is exceedingly snappy. However I have had significant issues regarding App refreshes on the S6 Edge due to aggressive ram management (a consequence of a dramatically more bloated under the hood OS). The Z3 often runs at 1/3 of the memory when booted compared to the S6 Edge and the affect for me is the Z3 keeps apps in memory longer and far more of them resulting in apps always ready when I go to them compared to the S6 Edge which will often reload/refresh content on me.

The Z3 battery isn't approaching 6+ levels but for me it's been utterly consistent, whereas my S6 Edge I was never able to get more than 3-3.5 hours SOT (yet others here routinely manage 5-6, sadly I just never got that).

The 16gb storage on the Z3 is low but the fact I can bolster it with micro SD has meant that hasn't been an issue.

I can back your claim up about the S6 Edge. Not with my phone, but a friend of mines got a T-mobile S6 Edge and his RAM usage is always around 82% to 95%. My phone is normally around 60% to 70% even with heavy usage. He did a factory reset and didn't load any third party apps for a couple of days, same thing happens with RAM usage. It causes his phone to get sluggish once in a while.

We have the same carrier and phone, but mines is perfectly smooth and not using excessive RAM. Only difference is, he has the 32gb and I have the 64gb. I doubt it, but I wonder if it's using some virtual RAM on 64gb versions.

Yeah I have 64gb ... It's just weird that these issues plague some but not all, the performance fix didn't have any difference in my ram usage / refreshes. It basically spoiled my user experience of what is otherwise a beautiful aesthetically phone.

He told be he'll be exchanging for the same on Wed, so I'll see if he has the same issue.

On the same note. We looked up the manufacturer date using the Phone Info app. Mine is 4/21 his is around a month earlier. Can't remember the exact date but it was 3/2(?). Maybe that has something to do with it.

No mines April too. Perhaps there's an issue with this new ram they are using in some units?

This thread has made me so glad I never got the S6. :|

I think a lot of people seem to like the new feel and look. Seems there's issues though with ram management/battery life?

I read the Sony z4 will be released soon. Looks to be a nice phone as well.

Seems to affect the minority of users.

The thing that's really pushing me to do this is that Sprint has a system where I'd get a new phone next year, turning in this one. Then the year after I'd do the same. I'm just not happy with my perfectly working Nexus 6 for some reason.

The underlying assumption is either you can get sufficient signal or signal may not be a top priority for you given Sprint's reputation.

"Sprint's reputation"? AT&T, when I was with them, didn't get signal in large portions of the place I work at. I have only had a few times of that with Sprint. So... I think the signal issue with Sprint might be a little overstated. Signal -is- a priority, and Sprint works.

Sprint's reputation is known for bad signal. I can personally vouch for it since I set up quite a bit of mobile hotspots for people. I did the setup at my place, so I couldn't get signal without standing near a windowsill. When I was working on my Bachelor's, Sprint couldn't get signal on my campus around a suburb of a metropolitan area. If Sprint gets the job done for you, and it's surpassing expectations, then go for it, but I am just saying that being on Sprint has trade offs w/ signal due to their favorable prices and phone "payment or lease" options.

It's always about where you are. I get no T-Mobile signal, for example, while others say it's the strongest in their area. So my holdout is the question about whether or not I'm going to get a Project Fi invite anytime soon and more importantly if this would actually be an upgrade from my phone. I'm not sure.
