Not TMobile. Im still on 5.0.2

Yeah, the updated firmware is still 5.0.2. I thought it was 5.1.1, but apparently I was wrong. It's the thing with the code I posted in my edited post after his. Personally, my battery life is going to be bollocks now that I've decided to turn the screen up, have high accuracy, and likely just have it plugged into one of those pocket battery things all the time after I get it on Wednesday.

Why?

Because I can.

By the way, the autofocus is taking longer than I'd like. Is there some way to make it take less time?

That's actually true. On the USA AT&T carrier it was 237MB update released about 3 weeks ago.

Update summary

Effective May 13, 2015, AT&T will release a sofware update for the Samsung Galaxy S 6 (G925A).

Software update includes
  • Battery performance enhancement
  • HD Voice enhancement
  • Screen enhancements
  • AT&T Message enhancement
  • Screen rotation enhancement
  • Power key press time from .5sec to 1.5sec
  • Other various performance enhancements

I haven't seen a sign of apps being killed in the background aggressively since, though I never noticed it was an issue much outside of the TW launcher and youtube randomly in the background.
I would love seeing a video from you showing the same sequence of opening apps and no app reloading. Eagerly waiting :)

Doesn't matter enough to me if you are placated. Feel free to perform your own experiments and post results.

So "OK Google" from any screen is now on the S6.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/0...-be-returning-can-possibly-be-forced-back-on/

All I had to do was go to Application manager, tap on Google Play services, tap Manage Storage, and then Clear All Data. It now works on any homescreen and within any app. It also works when the screen is locked, but the screen itself still has to be on. Does not work on locked screen when screen is off. I also tried it with no lock screen security, but still doesn't work with screen off. It only works with the off when attached to a charger.

The Note 4 "OK Google detection" worked with screen off with and without lock screen security, even off the charger, so I hope there is a solution for it working for the S6. I remember it needed S-voice to be on in order for it to work.

I'm on T-mobile brand 5.0.2. Can anyone with an update from another carrier see if it works with the screen off without it charging?

If you haven't already set "OK Google" detection, go to Google Now and from it's settings tap voice then you will see "OK Google detection".

How does having that on affect battery?

Sister picked up a Gold S6 edge yesterday and it is a stunning, stunning phone. Much lighter than I thought it would be. Its such a stunning design, beautiful in every way.

The screen is incredible.

I decided that I am moving onto the iPhone 6+ because the S6 doesn't do the core things right because of the bugs it has and stupid carriers getting in the way of progress.

Yeah I moved back to my 6+ and haven't looked back really. The S6 is an excellent device but I felt like I missed the iPhone. And it helps that it helps that I just picked up a Macbook Pro!

Switching over to a S6 from iPhone was like a breath of fresh air. The iPhone got real boring real fast. I must say I even like the gentle touch of touch wiz it adds some useful stuff.

Verizon pushed an update today! Mine failed because I'm rooted so I'm waiting for a rom made off it.

Anyone try it yet?

I don't have to worry about the battery life anymore.

Why?

It's hooked up to a 5000 mAh battery and will remain that way. Only cost me 11$. :D

The Last Shangri-La
I picked up the S6 Edge in White over the weekend. Beautiful phone. Coming from an iPhone 6+ - here are my takes on it so far.

PROS
Love the Screen

Loving the bold colors so far. The 6+ had a great neutral screen with pretty good color reproduction by I'm digging the slight over saturation and vibrancy for a change :)

Fingerprint

I didn't expect much from the fingerprinting software to be honest. After seeing the dismal performance on the s5. But it's worked just as well as TouchID for me and I am pleasantly surprised.

TouchWiz

I absolutely hated the old TouchWiz. Samsung have tuned it down a bit and it's infinitely better, still nowhere as nice as stock Android, but usable now and Lollipop is great!, esp with Nova or Aviate. I don't mind the pull down settings though - slightly more useful (and just "more" settings than the iPhone)

Smart Lock/Security

The smart lock with trusted WiFi and Bluetooth is amazing. The fingerprinting on the S6 edge makes this "not so amazing" but for every other Android phone without it, its a godsend.

Build Quality
I'd go as far as to say that its matched iPhone built quality (not quite surpassed, which I'll mention below). It feels amazing in the hand and I love holding it.

CONS
Battery Life

This has been the biggest disappointment so far, coming for the 6+. Currently, it barely goes over 13hrs on a full charge with about 2h45mins of SOT. The fact that the S6 edge is still on 5.0.2 could be a factor in this, but very disappointing none the less. I could go almost a full 2 days on a single charge with the 6+ so I was hoping for at least a full day out of it.

TouchWiz

Yes, I said it was a Pro, but it is a Con as well. Samsung just can't help themselves and there are "S-Apps" everywhere, BUT, its not as obtrusive as their previous iterations, so not a HUGE con :)

Build Quality
Attention to detail at the top and the bottom on the phone. I cannot fathom how the could not have just center-aligned it - drives me up the wall. "Its like making an exquisite meal and then garnishing it with a lump of lard" - a Clarkson quote.

Small personal quirk :) - I like the home button on the iPhone better - the "click" is slight nicer, more organic to me. The home button on the S6 is a bit too "clicky" to me (if that makes any sense)

That is basically the battery life I experience though other here have managed to get 4-5hr SOT (and some close to 6?) - but that has eluded me - even when using the device with just wifi (no cellular) I still only get at max 3hr SOT.

Don't think this is 5.0.2 at issue - as others who have better SOT are all running with 5.0.2 too.

Ok guys my verizon gs6 got an update today.I'm back to stock rom and unrooted but with the usual carrier bloat disabled.

I would get around 5-6 hours before so let's see what she does now.

This test will be with 4g xlte and no power saving modes and display around 25%(inside all day today).

Here is the before!

Well, I am hopping off the S6 wagon as soon as I get my 6+ tomorrow. Great device but not enough to deal with the biggest shortcoming: battery life. Another issue I had is with Samsung overall, their lack of timely updates hamper the user experience. Those two issues cannot make up for an amazing screen, good UI, top notch specs, etc.
