I picked up the S6 Edge in White over the weekend. Beautiful phone. Coming from an iPhone 6+ - here are my takes on it so far.
PROS
Love the Screen
Loving the bold colors so far. The 6+ had a great neutral screen with pretty good color reproduction by I'm digging the slight over saturation and vibrancy for a change
Fingerprint
I didn't expect much from the fingerprinting software to be honest. After seeing the dismal performance on the s5. But it's worked just as well as TouchID for me and I am pleasantly surprised.
TouchWiz
I absolutely hated the old TouchWiz. Samsung have tuned it down a bit and it's infinitely better, still nowhere as nice as stock Android, but usable now and Lollipop is great!, esp with Nova or Aviate. I don't mind the pull down settings though - slightly more useful (and just "more" settings than the iPhone)
Smart Lock/Security
The smart lock with trusted WiFi and Bluetooth is amazing. The fingerprinting on the S6 edge makes this "not so amazing" but for every other Android phone without it, its a godsend.
Build Quality
I'd go as far as to say that its matched iPhone built quality (not quite surpassed, which I'll mention below). It feels amazing in the hand and I love holding it.
CONS
Battery Life
This has been the biggest disappointment so far, coming for the 6+. Currently, it barely goes over 13hrs on a full charge with about 2h45mins of SOT. The fact that the S6 edge is still on 5.0.2 could be a factor in this, but very disappointing none the less. I could go almost a full 2 days on a single charge with the 6+ so I was hoping for at least a full day out of it.
TouchWiz
Yes, I said it was a Pro, but it is a Con as well. Samsung just can't help themselves and there are "S-Apps" everywhere, BUT, its not as obtrusive as their previous iterations, so not a HUGE con
Build Quality
Attention to detail at the top and the bottom on the phone. I cannot fathom how the could not have just center-aligned it - drives me up the wall. "Its like making an exquisite meal and then garnishing it with a lump of lard" - a Clarkson quote.
Small personal quirk
- I like the home button on the iPhone better - the "click" is slight nicer, more organic to me. The home button on the S6 is a bit too "clicky" to me (if that makes any sense)
