If 6.0 is that good on the s6 I may hold off on the s7.

The s6 is truly a fantastic device. It gets everything just about right, gets very few things wrong, and some things it does phenomenally.

If 6.0 can make the experience even better then it'll easily last another year.

Well I waited almost two days and gave in. Happy to say that it's looking very nice so far.

The biggest gains I can see is overall smoothness as well as better RAM management. I did a side-by-side test against my Note 5 on 5.11 and the S6e on 6.0 held more apps (9) before needing to refresh. Having RAW and shutter speed in the camera is good too.

Couple of bugs (Gear VR doesn't work) and the odd random FC but I think most folks will be happy with this when those are cleaned up.

Gonna see what Doze does for battery overnight.

Any improvements to finger print reader speed? Does it unlock faster and more reliably with 6.0? Sometimes it's slow as heck (by today's measures).

Do Gameloft games finally work? They're games keep crashing on Samsung devices. Can you test Asphalt?

Try "chrome Samsung support library" app for any Samsung device using chrome.

Makes it a lot smoother.

Oh, it is installed. My problem came from the fact that the scrolling was actually too smooth and went too far with a single flick. I am used to iOS.

And like usual, I went back to my safety blanket of iOS.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm going to get the newest of my phone of choice every year. iOS 10 could make it a smooth 60fps everywhere. I'm still getting the 7 as soon as I comes out.

After some annoying issues on the note 4 I promised I'd never go back to Samsung again. But at the current price of £260 for a 32g variant it's got to be worth a go instead of my 6s Plus

How are the folders and widgets in the touchwiz launcher? Those were my biggest pet peeves about that launcher, the folders showed too little apps when opened and widgets didn't scale right. That and you can't move the apps button.

Folders show about the same and widgets vary (akin to 5.11). Some third party widgets are OK (Reuters) and some less so (Wunderlist). Apps button is still fixed.

It feels a bit faster in terms of how little time you need to tap/hold on the scanner. I've never really had a problem with the recognition or speed. Is no 6s though. Overall, as someone who likes the S6 as much as I do, I think you'll really like the refinements in speed and fluidity across TW. It's really smooth now.

Tried three: Asphalt 8 works; Despicable Me works; Sniper Fury crashed out.

EDIT: Doze needs a bit of work. It's not making things worse but it's nothing like gains I've seen on the Nexus 5

Anyone having issues with the touch not responding? I don't know if i have a bad touchscreen or if it's just a software bug. like swiping down for the notification I have to put some pressure on the top of the screen to scroll down, makes it seem more like a resistive touch screen than a capacitive. I have till Jan 31 to return it. I hear that Android 6.0 should be out next month so don't know if I should just wait to see if it fixes the issue.

That's not normal. I'd return whilst you can and get a replacement otherwise if you wait in hope for a software fix - you'll be stuck in Samsung's repair cycle and that can be a nightmare.

If you want to make sure it's not a software issue, reset your phone to factory and set it up new. If it persists - it's hardware. If it doesn't, it was software.

I agree with MRU. That doesn't sound normal.

I don't know what you consider slow. Mine works just fine and I'd imagine you are talking about milliseconds here, which for me isn't an issue.
I only use it for certain apps anyways, not my lockscreen.

I do have a screen protector on, let me try and get a tempered glass one to see if that makes any different. I never had any issues with screen protector or tempered glass protector on any of my phone. Maybe the S6 is finicky with one. If that doesn't fix it I will return, thanks for the help.

Yeah a screen protector wouldn't cause that issue normally. But give it a shot, though don't spend a lot of money on one of it turns out as I suspect to not be the cause, and then has to go back - you will have wasted good money on a tempered protector.

Sammy is listening to us.I said they need to come out with latest Android and beta test it hard before putting it on new flagship phones like the next gs7 etc.

By them doing this with gs6 users it will make a huge better impression on new users on the gs7 as it always takes 2 to 3 firmware updates to smooth things out.

Yup, and according to some leaks, the Note 4 looks like it will get the updated touchwiz as well. If they can properly optimize touchwiz and continue support for their handsets with proper software updates for more than a year, then I would consider Samsung to be the top android oem.

For Marshmallow, I hope they remove that obnoxious, idiotic, annoying, and utterly useless app optimization notification.

Whoever at Samsung decided that the phone should remind you about app optimization every couple of days should be fired. The worse thing? The reminder is there whether you have optimization turned on or off.

Ditto the volume and airplane mode warnings. Please, Samsung, don't treat your users like idiots the way Apple treats their users with all their unnecessary and annoying limitations in the name of "security."

Has there been anything on whether Marshmallow on the S6 rids us of these asinine notifications/warnings?

I hear ya brother....lets hope they do away with those annoying notifications. They are useless imo...go ahead and lets us know you are optimizing apps with a little box we can check to never see the notification again! Those same "never show me this again" checkbox for volume and airplane warnings. :) Make it so Samsung!

They did make it so.

It was one of the first things i found in the 6.0 beta and blocked the notifications.

Though this isn't them actually removing the warning itself. This is just using marshmallows ability to block notifications generally. Samsung should have a little tick box for 'don't warn me again' as some folks (not us here as were more tech savvy) would be hesitant about going into system notification or app settings.

Sweet!

Anyway to disable the equalling annoying warnings for turning up the volume or turning on airplane mode? Both those things are equally unnecessary and annoying to be mentioned more than once.

Agree, but this'll do, too! :)

Too bad this doesn't mean the annoying airplane mode warning and sound volume warning can be stopped.

Can it...?

In general, Samsung should just have a "tips" check box to turn on/off. Off would rid the phone of all these sorts of warnings after the first time.

Isn't just me who had the option. Not to see that notification again?
