It's likely dependent on the firmware - but yeah I never got the option to not see it on any of the Samsung devices of 2015. It always popped up for me - the audio one being a particular pita

The audio one drives me nuts. So stupid.

It's things like this that make me want to leave TouchWiz. Not the other things people dislike about it.

Though this isn't them actually removing the warning itself. This is just using marshmallows ability to block notifications generally. Samsung should have a little tick box for 'don't warn me again' as some folks (not us here as were more tech savvy) would be hesitant about going into system notification or app settings.
To be fair it does ask if you want to 'Do not show again' the first time the optimisation thing shows up. I'd already tapped that so grabbed it from within settings. Suspect most people will 'Do not show again' on first sight.
Sweet!

Anyway to disable the equalling annoying warnings for turning up the volume or turning on airplane mode? Both those things are equally unnecessary and annoying to be mentioned more than once.
What was airplane warnings again? I can only turn it off/on via the quick toggle or in settings as it's gone if you hold down the power button.

I think the audio warning is legal/regulatory guidance that different manufacturers approach in different ways (i.e. it's not mandatory). I guess it's not going away anytime soon.

Yeah a screen protector wouldn't cause that issue normally. But give it a shot, though don't spend a lot of money on one of it turns out as I suspect to not be the cause, and then has to go back - you will have wasted good money on a tempered protector.
I took the screen protector off and use it without anything and touch screen seem more sensitive now, but yesterday the Physical button became weird, the Home button wouldn't go home it would go into google now or the camera and the power button didn't work. I did a Factory reset and everything seems to be normal now. I just don't know if all I needed was a factory reset and it was just buggy or there is something actually wrong with the phone. I'm just in a dilemma don't know if I should return or keep, so far the S6 has been the perfect android phone for me and I been through a lot of Android phones :) I also have that looming S7 is coming in my head too. UPDATE: It was acting up again a few hours later, sent it back to get a refund and I'll wait to see what the S7 has to offer.

So, I picked up an iPhone 6S plus yesterday, and I'm already having buyers remorse. I was so damn sure I wanted the 6S Plus too. As annoying as the App Optimization message is on my S6, I have seen improvement with my battery life. Also my new job sells consumer electronics, so there's two inventory rooms full of cables and powerbanks, and battery case, so I really don't have to worry about my battery life. Also, my phone does sit on my desk all day so when the S6 gets Marshmallow, Doze will come in real handy. I should have just picked up an iPad Mini. It's a good thing that AT&T restocking fee is only $35. The only thing that sucks is that I only have one line, and I ported my number over, so if I return the phone, then they'll cancel the line, and my number will be in limbo because I'll have to wait for the refund to hit my card, so I can finish paying the EIP on my S6 (Yes, I know I should have did that first) and then have T-mobile unlock the phone.

Hi Galaxy s6 users!

Those of you whom are experienced with this phone, can you help a galaxy newcomer out?

I had a nexus 6p and absolutely loved the phone, but the one issue for me was that it was just a bit too big for me in day to day use - a bit too much of a "phablet" which I find too large. I thought about getting a nexus 5x to stick with stock android, but instead I came across an exceptional deal on a Galaxy S6. I have never used a Galaxy as my daily driver but a lot of my friends have them and my sister has one too, all have praised the S6.

My thing is, when it comes to android, I have always had android phones which only use either Stock or close to Stock Android. Going from that to the Galaxy is very different and a bit of an adjustment. I am overwhelmed with the different design, the lack of google launcher, and the pre-installed apps.

I was simply wondering if those of you who have experienced with going from stock android to Galaxy S6's skin, or from iOS to the galaxy s6 android skin, if you are able to point me in the direction of some tutorials to adjust myself to the phone and also offer advice with becoming adjusted to it.

Initial impressions are very positive, but going from stock android to this feels very different (more than I thought it would)

What should I know about Samsung Account? Samsung Apps? This weird Flipboard launcher? Galaxy store? Can I put stock android on it? How do I use Google Photos as my main photos album rather than this "Gallery" app?

Sorry I am a bit of a newbie with this device!

Any help would be very welcomed and appreciated! I want to give this phone a go as my daily driver, rather than going for the Nexus 5x which has cheaper build quality and an IPS display - something I want to refrain from doing, and instead become comfortable with this phone. I have just been so used to iOS & stock Android that this is all a bit new to me!

Cheers :)

I have replaced the tw launcher with the Google now one, which I prefer. Yes you can't get a complete stock feel on the dialer, settings, Notifications and lock screen but it's not a bad compromise.

Ignore the Samsung apps. Just don't use them. Add google photos, messenger, gmail/inbox, chrome, keep and you have all the apps you would have on stock.

First, you can disable briefing - the rather limited flip board home screen. Press on screen till you get the wallpaper / grid / home screen management. From here you can select the left window and untick it. This will turn it off.

Also - from here select themes and when inside search for material theme. This will give you close approximation of stock android's icons as well as theming the Samsung stock apps like dialer with a more materialistic / stock colour scheme.

If you choose to install 'Google Now Launcher' sadly the material themed icons won't apply to it and you'll be stuck with the default candy square tiles which IMHO doesn't really work with it.

You can use a launcher like Nova or Action Launcher 3 and then use an 'icon pack' to once again give you a stock android look.

You can use Google Photos as your main gallery app however if you have already set gallery as a default - you need to undo that. You would need to go into settings / applications / swipe to the right for default apps and remove Gallery or alternatively select gallery under all apps tab, and clear its cache. This will undo the default selection.

The next time then you use an app that sends photos to a gallery application it should prompt you for which application to utilise, make default. Select photos.

Hope that helps somewhat.

Fantastic tips guys. I have followed as both of you said. Also, thank you MRU - disabling the Breifing screen sped the device up a fair bit too!

Is there any app that can allow for quick phone calls to specific contacts that integrates nicely into the pull down menu of TouchWiz?

Anything besides Power Toggles?

Hi,

I'm looking to buy the S6 (I have the iPhone) and I would like to know if the Galaxy has any sort of lag, stutter, bug etc. How is your experience with it?

Thanks.

None that I have noticed. The experience has been very fluid and fast for me! I have used off and on since launch.

No, it's pretty solid. Especially after all the updates it got. Speaking as an S6 Edge user, but the S6 is basically the same.

Mine is not as fast as before. Weird. I do notice it's slower than before. The Swype keyboard has some stutters, but that's due to the keyboard probably. I do notice some lag here and there.

I hope marshmallow fixes all that. Maybe it's the RAM bug in lollipop?

All subjective to the individual, but I would buy my edge plus again in a heartbeat. .

So where the hell is Mr. Marshmallows?

Downloading the update OTA right now for my unlocked european model!! Finally!! I really want to try google now on tap, and they say the phone is even more fast and fluid than before. Will report when installed.

Update weights in at 1244MB.

EDIT: Ok, already installed. Update feels great. The phone now feels more modern thanks to the updated UI and animations, which are way better than before. It does feel faster at times and slower at others (but might be because the update has just been installed and it needs more time to settle). Overall a great update.

Ok, so after 24 hours I'm not too happy with the update. Doesn't seem much faster. I see more lag now, maybe due to the new animations, which seem "heavier". Some features have been vanished, like the lockscreen effects or the notification panel option to enable or disable S Finder and the other thing...

Some new UI tweaks are nice, but aside from that, not that great.

I still don't see an update.

I think battery life will improve too! Lets us know how it goes after a few days. I am still waiting for it on my N5

After a few days with Marshmallow on it I'd say battery life is roughly the same or slightly slightly better. I don't see a big difference really. Haven't really noticed Doze in action. I'm a heavy user, so maybe it's normal that I don't see much more battery life than before.
