But the package HAS changed. The ram is more energy efficient, but it is now clocked higher and there is more of it, so that negates the energy savings.

Same with the screen, it may take less power to light up each pixel, but there are now more pixels to light which will again negate the energy savings.

Also, you can't just stack the energy savings, it doesn't work that way.

Now if they kept everything the same then you would see those energy savings.

Acording to display mate the note 4 screen got brighter and got 14% better power draw vs the older 1080p note 3 screen.Samsung is going to use this same tech from the note 4 to the gs5.

ddr4 ram as a standard will consume less power then ddr3 and clock faster.the ram is also being made on a smaller node from the same ram used on the gs5.

Samsung is also using a class 10 let modem that will consume less power then the old gs5.

Here is a clip from display mate about the note 4s power efficiency

Samsung has also said they have improved from the note 4 using new blue pixels and got another 14% better power draw from the note 4.

Here is how they got it on the note 4

Your math is a bit weird, as you ad 14 and 30 percent and state it as 44 percent, but as the display is using a LOT more power than the processor, your math isn't really good.

I think it will be something around 20% in reality..

You really think going from 28nm to 14nm will only add 20%?

No bloat ware on the S6? Only 2 Samsung apps preinstalled! NICE....

The Galaxy S6 will bring about a major change in Samsung’s software, something we have been repeatedly proving with many of our exclusives. The phone will come with only two Samsung apps pre-installed, and as we revealed late last year, the S6 will also come with the themes feature that debuted on the Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5. Our insiders have now provided us with more info on how the themes feature will work, or to be specific, the things that will be customized when a theme is selected.

Yeah but that's not exactly true and they are being quite misleading.

For a start they are blatantly ignoring all the Samsung system apps in that statement like S-Planner, Samsung finder, Samsung remote, Samsung Gallery, Samsung Browser etc. They are not going to ship the phone without these (and indeed you can see them on the leaks).

They are also ignoring the fact that Galaxy Apps is itself a Samsung app too.

So the pretence that only S-Voice & S-Health are the only Samsung apps pre-installed is a quite a bit misleading to say the least.

Essentially - all they are doing is making things like S-Note & scrapbook optional installs (watchon and chaton are already dead) - which they were on the unbranded Galaxy Alpha anyway. Not exactly setting any new precidents here. The fact that S-Voice is still included worries me - for if anything was utterly moribund it's S-Voice (seeing as we have OK Google) and indicates to me that maybe they aren't radically clearing out anything under all the pretence of doing so.

Oh and they also forgot to say they are now adding Skype, Onedrive, Whatsapp to the pre-installed list. (Take with one hand and dump with the other). Hardly the big de-bloat.

I think they also mean those system apps. Most likely Galaxy Apps and another app will be the only Samsung included apps. They will probably have a Galaxy Apps widget on the home screen encouraging users to download apps.

It says the only two are S-Voice and S-Health. The rest can be downloaded and installed via Galaxy Apps...so that is 3.
We don't know yet if S-Planner, Samsung finder, Samsung remote, Samsung Gallery, Samsung Browser etc. are going to be included or will be running in the background. Could be but we don't know yet.

S-Voice is very useful for the camera. I use it all the time. It is not meant to compete with Google Now.

Here is what Droid-Life says

S-finder is baked into the core of Touchwiz. And as I say the screen of the leaked devices today show many of those on the desktop.

I remain skeptical. It's upto Samsung to prove me wrong - but I don't believe any de bloating message whilst sticking on One Drive, Skype, WhatsApp etc can be taken too seriously.

I'm also very excited to see how the glass back feels. I love glass backs and feel that the iPhone4 was the last quality "feeling" phone that had that nice heft to it. The aluminum unibody iPhone 6 is very nice also, but the note 4 edges it out in feel. The iPhone 5 I never cared for, just felt tinny and cheap. I'm super bummed about no microSD, that's a step backwards IMO but I can understand how it's a good ploy to force people to spend more on internal memory, Apple has mastered this type of fleecing.

I wish we had leaks of the black one. Oh well, just a couple more days now. It's academic to me anyhow as I'm mostly just seeing what the Note 5 will probably look like.

No microsd is official?

They take out the ir blaster too?

Meeeh

Non removable battery doesn't mean no SD slot. Rumors on that are conflicting, so we'll just have to wait.

As nice as the ir blaster is, Samsung probably has data of it's usage. So if they did cut it, then it's probably the average user's fault.

Also the Note line is probably more popular than the S line today. So they might take features away from the S line and have it remain on the Note line. That would make the S line more affordable and make the Note more attractive.

Per the rumors there is no Black S6. Just Dark Blue, White, and Beige.

Bleh, that's terrible. How the heck can't there be a black one? I'd at least like to look at the blue one as I'm sure it has a black face, it would look fugly if they did a blue face.

Agreed..I'll believe it when I see it. And as Samsung doesn't sell unlocked/developer edition devices (at least not in the US), it will of course come loaded with carrier bloat.

When the S3 came out there was no black color either. Just white and pebble blue.

I hated the blue one and got the white version, but nothing compares to pure black, like on my S5.

You girls/guys are so funny, Samsung de bloating bwahbwah, seriously every device they make ends up being a horrid buggy lagathon. Maybe not at first but a few months in.
TW uses so much ram it needs double what they put in So no one ever gets a smooth experience.

Keep dreaming though#

And what's with the big bezels and the fugly Samsung logo on the front, I would be embarrassed pulling that thing out.

That's funny because my gs5 has gotten less bloat and faster with every update.

Here is lollipop running and my phone is running it's fastest it's ever ran months after owning.

Yep I had a S5, was a ram hog that thing, lagged and not to mention battery drain, and the PITA charge port.
It was a real seller that one

Every os update on the gs5 had increased performance tremendously and it flies on lollipop.

Nice try though

Ps you know you never owned one so go crawl back where you came from
