Any prices and when it's out?

10th April,

Euro price is

€699 32gb S6.
€799 64gb S6
€899 128gb S6

€849 32gb S6 Edge
€949 64gb S6 Edge
€1049 128gb S6 Edge

So with that in mind I estimate £500-549 for 32gb S6 and work way up £69-79 per increment
And £649 32gb S6 Edge 32gb

That's mine, back off ;) :p

I might be willing to share :p

Back to my Verge rant, this paragraph is frustrating.

It’s easy to see where Samsung took its inspiration for the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge: the design is strikingly similar to the iPhone 6 in many places, and the features that Samsung did focus its efforts on are all things the iPhone has had for years. Look at the S6 from certain angles and you’d immediately think it’s an iPhone. Put your thumb on the home key and the phone unlocks almost instantly, just like an iPhone. Even the camera mount protrudes out from the rear of the phone, preventing the S6 from lying flat on a table, just like an iPhone 6. (The flat S6 looks like the lovechild of an iPhone 4 and an iPhone 6, while the S6 Edge is a little more distinctive.) Samsung has be known to copy Apple’s design before, which led to record sales and record-breaking lawsuits. It’s hard to say if the Galaxy S6 will bring about any lawsuits, but the similarities between it and the iPhone 6 are undeniable.

This is such a backhanded comment, something they never would have said about other companies using metal frames with antenna breaks. They gushed over the Xiaomi Note a couple of days ago which uses this setup.

A glass back? Why?!

It was a dumb idea on the iPhone 4/4S, dumb idea on the Nexus 4, and it's still a dumb idea on the S6.

Glass backs are fingerprint magnets. Even worse, they are prone to shattering. Gorilla Glass may be scratch-resistant, but it still shatters. It doesn't make sense to add another large pane of easily damaged material just to make the phone pretty out of the box.

I fully understand why people would be upset about the glass back but I for one am not.

The iPhone 4 and 4s were my favorite iphones by far both in general and in design wise. Glass is just gorgeous.

And before I got my one plus, I was very tempted to get the z3, which also had glass back and which was also a beautifully designed and looking smartphone.

I can live with glass. But again, fully get the argument against it.

I agree, I love the glass back, can't wait to get it on the Note 5. If you're going to drop your phone you better have insurance anyhow.

Ditto, however must say it better be more scratch resistant than the Xperia Z range. My Z2 was babied like crazy and after only 36 hours it had developed a tiny hairline scratch on the back. That really irked me.

I will end up buying a clear case for the edge though.

Could you list a few reasons how?

iPhone 6:
1GB RAM
720P display (326 ppi)
1810 mAh Battery
16GB starting memory option
8MP camera
1.2-megapixel photos
Mind altering battery charge times
10 hours WIFI use

The S6 makes mince of the iPhone in all those categories by a hefty margin, and those are the day to day things that make up a big part of the user's experience.

And Samsung went with the iPhone 4 type design which I think is the best design of any smartphone. And I am thrilled the speakers and headphone jack are on the bottom now.

Club iPhone wishes they had a device of this caliber, and I'm not even talk about the edge model. If Apple shipped something this potent it would be regarded as the second coming.

And I am saying this as someone who is described in this section as being an Apple fanboy.

The curved screen as an idea doesn't seem fully fleshed out, but the S6 absolutely makes the iPhone 6 look ass backwards in comparison. To an embarrassing extent.

Samsung is learning fast and I can see the S6 being a real threat to the iPhone like no other Samsung device prior. The blistering screen, improved ergos, stunning design, and lifestyle features are all things that will attract attention.

Now lets see what Apple has in the tank with Apple Watch and iPhone 6S. They better come with their A Game.

I agree with you that hardware wise the S6 is a winner. However, the software experience is just as important, and from my point of view that is where Samsung has failed.

I have yet to use a TouchWiz device that I liked, and I was really hoping they'd revitalize the UI with the S6. While I'm very interested in the S6, if I see even a hint of lag or stutter in the UI in the released version -- and I have seen it already in videos today -- I'll stick with the iPhone for another generation just because of the software. If I could get it with stock Android, it would be a no-question purchase for me. I don't root or do custom ROMS, so I rely on the released software to provide a smooth experience. The S4 failed me and the S5 failed me. I sincerely hope they've got lag and stutter worked out with the S6, as they claim they have.

Totally agree. Samsung tries to stuff every single feature or spec in their phones yet they still lag, the UI is crap, and their design is garbage.

Give iOS and it's flawless operating capabilities and superior camera on the 6+ and battery life any day of the week.

Samsung phones have been continuous failures. Give me a stock experience anyday of the week like a OPO, M8, or Nexus over a Samsung phone.

Just my opinion of course. Enjoy Sammy fans

These prices are insane...

I was especially impressed with how the Edge turned out. I'm glad to see a shift towards higher storage space starting with 32 GB and going up.

I don't have any real issue with Touchwiz, and there are elements of tasking in touchwiz that make iOS seem unnecessarily arduous. While iOS most excels in presentation simplicity, iOS is not simple. It's actually overly complicated for many simple tasks.

Touchwiz is resource hungry. The S4 was a laggy turd, but my S5 and Note 4 are quite smooth. I had an iPhone 6 for 13 days and returned it because the experience kinda sucked, and the crappy screen and soft camera imagery left me cold. 1GB of RAM and weak battery life are a huge problem.

I want to return to Apple and get the smaller iPhone 6 (I'm getting big screen fatigue from my Note 4 after 3 months of ownership), but I won't do it for merely average Apple products.

I want a better screen, I want no concerns about bending, I want more RAM, I want more battery life, I want all those nifty iOS 8 features to actually be supported, I want a better camera, I want 32GB to be standard.

I want Apple to create a Galaxy S6 caliber device with iOS, because pretty much nothing about the iPhone 6 is impressive to me.

I think touchwiz UI and design is much better than the crap Google calls Lollipop. I like touchwiz quite a bit, I think it's a great overlay. It does lag though and I hope Samsung lives up to it's hype and has smoothed it out. iOS is the one with garbage UI and design IMO, but once again just a personal opinion, Android has gone down hill as well. I've actually always had the opposite wish, give me Apple's beautiful hardware with android/touch wiz and I'd be happy. The S6 has iPhone class hardware and android so I'll be first in line for a Note 5 if it's anything similar.

it looks ok, ill stick to buying the Sharp Aquos Crystal, notice how the galaxy is copying the 'borderless' look just like the aquos crystal

So the next big Android releases will be the LG G4 in April / May ? And the OnePlus Two in May / June.

IMO the S6 and M9 not really making rush out to the store and scratch that upgrade itch, they both just seem ok, but not giving me that must have right now feeling.

Especially the S6 being on ATT no root let alone unlocked bootloader for custom ROM's. And we'll see how even AOSP ROM's come out for the S6 ?

There's just no way I could buy a stock Galaxy S6 and not at least root it for AdAway, and Xposed stuff.

If you want to root...get the international model and use it on TMO or AT&T or get the M9.

The sharp Aquos is disgusting and nothing of it remotely resembles anything about the S6.

Ok, so after watching some videos I have two conclusions:

- The edge does look much nicer than the regular S6. The screen looks like it's floating

- Touchwiz is still Touchwiz. I see the same overall speed as in my S5. There's no more speed. It's the same.

Having the 6+, I knew that beforehand anyways. :)

If I buy either, it will be down the road when prices drop, I'm not even looking towards the Iphone 6s to tell the truth as the 6+ suffices for my needs and besides I dropped a bucketload on it to boot at release off contract.

Don't get me wrong as I own a Crystal but that isn't really a reasonable comparison versus the galaxy and what it further offers.

I'm just curious how is the S4 and the S5 a loser in your opinion? I am thinking about migrating to android (to keep my 4S from suffering more) and the S5 is my #1 choice so far. It has a micro SD card, Kit-Kat, 32 gb (If I can still find one), water resistant and, a reliable ecosystem. ;) I won't be choosing the S6 for the lack water resistance, no removal battery, and no micro SD card.

The Verge is no longer a reputable tech blog. They've become a lifestyle/culture/(occasional)tech site. Maddening since they used to be reliable.

The Vergecast has gone from a relevant discourse on technology and its impact on modern society to a rudderless exercise in vacuous chatter.

For technology coverage, when they're compared to Anandtech, GSMArena, or PocketNow, The Verge comes off as a minor leaguer who dreams of being in "The Show" but should realize that even at AAA he's outstripped his abilities.
