I do have concerns about accidental palm presses. Do you have that issue in using the Edge? Do you have the Edge Plus or regular sized Edge?

That would be hugely annoying, I think.

The edge and edge plus have an touch rejection enhancment to prevent accidental presses for the most part. The Note 5 when i had mine suffered far worse from accidental presses than the edge or edge +.

Essentially software does a decent job of predicting you might be accidentally touching the screen.

Sweet. Hopefully that software will be even better in the next iteration.

Agree though that in todays world smartphone storage should start at 32Gb and move up.

It's the same with tablets!! It is ridiculous that lots of tablets still starts at 16GB in 2015 and 16GB is simply not a enough these days as apps and games are getting bigger and bigger because of that it takes up more storage space!!

Tablets should start at 32GB of storage now!!

Agreed. On my phone storage isn't much of a problem, and I've only used about half of my 32GB, but on my iPad, which I store all my work on, as well as photos, videos, and my many apps, I need at least 32GB.

Wsj claims the SD card is likely to come back in the non edge s7. Good job Sammy. Did the s6 lose the IR blaster? If it did, it should return in the s7 too, because including that has no downside either. I hope usb c is usb 3.0 rather than 2 as well.

Flush camera makes me smile

Looking good sammy.

Although it would be good, I respectfully call rubbish. If you look at the CAD from OnLeaks, who has a nearly 100% accurate track record, it disproves many of those things. Flush camera, no, but I hope they make use of it by putting that 1/2 inch 12MP sensor. Low light on that would be killer. Retina scanner, not by the looks of it. Pretty sure that would require a second lens. No + model, no, enough evidence has been given that it will happen in my opinion. USB-C, no (why...?), microSD for the S7 only, probably not, pressure sensitive screen, probably, but they'd better make it worth it, unlike what they did with S Voice on the S3 or the fingerprint scanner on the S5.

Makes sense to me. The WSJ has a very good track record too! I wonder if the SD card not being in the S7 edge is due to the edge being so thin on the sides? I am looking forward to USB C and the quick charging they mentioned. No mention of battery size. I was hoping for a bigger battery in the S7 and N6 for next year.

They could put the SD card in the same slot as the Sim if they truly wanted to.

What about that whole micro SD slows down the ssd read and write speeds and all those concerns surrounding that?

Will that no longer be a problem in the s7 of it does go back to supporting micro SD?

I think Android 6 helps in those areas. It has support for the sd card builtin this time and should help with RW speeds

It was never true to start with. It was just spin to justify lack of microSD. Yet they still managed to release a Korean variant with MicroSD support that must have borrowed apple 'magic' because it didn't have issues...

Likewise there are plenty of Professional camcorders that record directly onto MicroSD. If a Sony Pro cam can record 4k onto one without issue, I think Angry birds wouldn't be affected...

It was always, always! just marketing guff.

I think that the UFS drive that the S6 used didn't support SD expansion. Maybe they will use some sort of fast storage that does support it. Or, they could just sell models with and models without. That would be good for me as I have zero problems with storage on my phone (16GB free on my 32GB S6 Edge+) and I could do with quick storage. Maybe an option for a second SIM on the microSD option?

I'd be surprised to see the sd slot come back. Wasn't the s6/note line considered a success by samsungs standards? There may be a variant that has one but I'd think they continue to not have sd expansion or removable batteries. It's a money thing.

That's my position too. I do not see it coming back either. I would be be 'very' surprised and going on tech wise unveils - I rarely am ...

Yeah. I remember some trying to justify losing the sd as some benefit to the user that Samsung was doing a bleeding edge speed increase so it wasn't about the money like apple lol. Now people are hyped that some rumors have it coming back lol. Or now rumors have the s7 having some sort of 3D Touch when people were saying it already had it with a long press and that apples is a gimmick. Or how people were saying there's no way the note would lose the sd slot because it's the power device, when they did anyway and then didn't offer a 128 gb option @launch then on top of that didn't offer it in Europe. And I don't think the ir is coming back either. But there's yet again another Samsung management change so we'll see.

The quick charging is cool though. Be nice to see wireless charging if it truly can mimic wired speeds. Although plugging in a cable isn't hard either.

Are people that hyped about 3d touch in the s7 really?

I think it is a gimmick on my iphone........can't see that changing on an Android phone tbh.
Best uses for it I've found so far is the press on edge to initiate multitasking. And scrolling/editing typing by pressing down on keyboard.

A couple of other spots / quick launch things - but most of time I forget its even there.

I imagine Samsung's implementation will basically replicate the features they used to have with 'air gesture' and the hover over features of the S-Pen. Both of those would translate to the force touch utility.

I'm wondering if the S7 will actually have a near flawless screen this time around. Both S6 units I used had very bad color tinting. One had a pink/red tint toward the top left with very obvious green tint at the bottom. The second had no pink/red but green tint on the lower 50% of the display. Its no bother on colors, but try browsing the internet forums or facebook and the visibly green tint on whites drove me insane. I couldn't stop looking at it as I scrolled. Maybe i'm OCD but thats still not acceptable. XDA forum has a thread of over 90 pages about this issue.

I looked at someone's Note 5 and it had very slight green tint on the lower 10% of the display as well, but not as dealbreaking as the S6. I don't remember this being an issue at all with the S3 and S5 I once owned.

Pressure sensitive screens aren't going to be a big deal on Android phones this year, because Android doesn't have support for them yet. Meaning no third-party app support until Android N comes out, and it'll most likely be 2017 before phones like the Galaxy S7 and Xperia Z6, that are rumoured to get pressure sensitive screens, get Android N.

Give me everything the s6 has but with a much better battery and I'll be very happy. Oh and a couple of s/w changes.
Agree though since my two recent updates my battery has been better with the app optimizing. I don't really care about pressure sensitive touch coming or not.

That seems like the likely scenario given the rumours. I'm envisioning a bigger battery as well. Look at the new A5, a phone which packs a 2900mAh battery into a body 5.2-inch screen and a slim build. And looking at the leaked renders, the S7 looks a bit hefty, meaning we could see a battery as big as 3300mAh. I'm fine with that as long as they put faster charging, which also looks likely with Quick Charge 3.0 coming up. Let's just hope for the best.
