The more I read, the more I want to buy one to see if I'm wrong. And then I look at my bank account and Amazon.

Trust me the display is the reason for the price......well worth it. No reason for me to even upgrade my iPad unless they get them a OLED display and mouse support.

I'll probably get one when I lower my credit balance to 3k.

Nice ....tech is costly I do the wait and try and then get rid of something else....got rid of my Huawei mediapad m5 10.8 and I’m glad I did. It was okay but it’s not the Tab S4.

Can any of y’all report if the Tab S4 can play HDR YouTube videos now? I’m still thinking it’s a no go.

I had the opportunity to check the Tab S3 today. Couldn't find the S4. However I focused on the S-Pen experience, didn't care about the rest, which might even be good, from the looks of it. If this is the same in the S4, then (at least with the Samsung Notes app) it's c.rap compared to what we have with the Apple Pencil and apps such as Notability and GoodNotes. (Note: this isn't the only app for the Samsung, though. I know that... Still the question remains if others are anywhere good as these two).

I'd say it's bad (regardless of the app) because when we try to use the S-Pen there's a very noticeable delay and the whole thing seems fake, while the Apple Pencil writes in a split of a second once it touches the iPAD screen via bluetooth. In the Samsung this seems very unnatural.

If this is a hint to what we may expect in terms of app support for these Samsung tablets then I better stick with Apple and my IPP 10.5.

I'm going to get one tomorrow, I want a new tablet for watching video and can't really find anything better.

I wont be using the pen much and apart from media consumption and a bit of web browsing, there's not much I will be using it for apart from watching vids.

My interests in this device has grown considerably. The Pixel Slate looks disappointing whereas theTab S4 looks very promising. I'll be eager to see reviews and see what kind of promos or Black Friday deals there are.

[doublepost=1542002466][/doublepost]Samsung looks like they'll have the base model on sale for $100 off.

At $550, that's pretty good.

Edit: the 256gb model would be $100 off, too, at $650.

I had the S3 for 10 months and hardly touch it now that there is the MS GO

I see little point replicating my phone OS with a tablet combo when travelling light now. Further more the GO with an Android emulator can run most software and you have the option to have full progs not apps on the GO

Connectivity on the GO is same as any laptop where the TAB is not so good and we all know IOS further restrictions etc

Sure if you are an artist the IPP is probably the best experience otherwise it's the worlds fastest and most expensive colouring book that's all pumped up and nowhere to go :)

All devices have compromises' but actually getting stuff done with the least amount of work arounds etc is what counts

There no doubt the IPP is the most polished and developed device hardware but OS restrained, The S3/4 are good middle ground for increased flexibility and the amoled displays are nice. The GO is 1st gen so still some rough edges to be ironed out but considerably cheaper with the greatest potential, flexibility and connectivity.

I think you have to have some very niche requirements to opt or justify for the IPP but not so much with the TAB S3/4.

The GO is only restrained by its footprint price point and once you go up a little towards IPP territory of pricing devices like the MS SP6 or Samsung Book come on the radar

I wonder if someone can tell if this screen can be good as the one we have with the IPP 10.5 and these new iPADs, thanks to features such as:

- True-tone display
- 120 Hz (ProMotion)
- Night Shift (is there something similar for the Tab S4?)
- Wide color gamut display (listed for the new iPADs)

Also, this link says (for the old iPAD Pro 9.7, released in 2016):

http://www.displaymate.com/iPad_Pro9_ShootOut_1.htm

- Record Low Screen Reflectance and Performance in Ambient Lighting

(...)

The iPad Pro 9.7 has a very innovative low Reflectance screen that reflects just 1.7 percent of the ambient light by using a new Anti-Reflection AR coating. It has by far the lowest screen Reflectance of any mobile display, so its image colors and contrast in high ambient light will appear considerably better than on any other mobile display. It’s a major enhancement that reduces the reflected light glare from the screen by a very impressive factor of 3 to 1 compared to most Tablets and Smartphones.

Our Contrast Rating for High Ambient Light quantitatively measures screen visibility under bright Ambient Light – the higher the better. As a result of its high Brightness and very low Reflectance, the iPad Pro 9.7 has a Contrast Rating for High Ambient Light of 301, by far the highest that we have ever measured. See the Screen Reflections and Brightness and Contrast sections for measurements and details.

- Record Absolute Color Accuracy

- Viewing Angle Performance

Read link for more info...

And finally we have the "Scratch-resistant glass, oleophobic coating". I don't see anyone addressing all these points for the Galaxy Tab S4, these people only talk about OLED, OLED, OLED, and end up saying this is better than what Apple offers as a screen.

Let me guess... considering all I said the iPAD is the better choice, too?

It runs iOS, has no removable storage, the accessories are an extra cost, putting media on the device is a pita.

Personally, the iPad just isn't an option for me but my use for my Tab S is primarily watching video and web browsing.
The oled tablet screen has been the best for years, it's nice Apple has a good screen now.

A no go.......due to that snapdragon 835 (in past devices caused stutters etc with the Google VP9 codec being the real issue but quadHD 1440p works perfectly at 60 fps) although it plays HDR in Netflix.......if it was a snapdragon 845 is would definitely be playing HDR in youtube.

Was able to pick up the Tab S4 base model at $100 off with additional employee discount stacked on top. Whole thing came out to just under $500.

The screen is what sold me. I'll mostly be browsing and YouTubing.

Can't wait. Ready to move on from my old iPad and iOS.

Tab S4 is wonderful so far. I really wanted a smaller tablet (7 or 8" range) but this'll do. For a 10" screen, it's really pretty manageable. The bezels are thin but also provide just enough room to hold the device comfortably.

And no surprises to anyone, the screen is incredible. Great for media consumption. The software is smooth and responsive so far. I don't have plans to do any serious or intensive stuff (that's what the MacBook Pro is for) so with the great screen and great audio speakers, this is shaping up to be a great tablet for my needs.

It goes without saying, the freedom of Android on a tablet is absolutely liberating when compared to the iPad and iOS. Feels good. I already have my spare 64gb microSD that doubles my storage, too, and will make loading movies and files easier.

I just ordered a new sd just for this purpose :)
I'm loving my Tab S4 also.

As much as I want the tab s4, there was no LTE model available yet from my carrier or in Canada so far and the price is way up there as it is for the non LTE model. Glad everyone’s enjoying it though, the reviews that came out were mixed

Gorgeous OLED and OS that actually let you do some serious work, if it wasn't Android, and if I wanted a tablet right now, I would buy it. Seems contradictory, but just because the OS is very capable, negatives still outweigh that one single positive. I do not know why Samsung didn't keep developing their own OS. Maybe they are blackmailed by Google too much, and are afraid to leave Android?

Another annoying thing is that still in 2018, apps for Android tablets are just stretched phone apps. Which is shame. But Google doesn't seem to care either, so, this will be that way as long as there are Android tablets.

That OLED is certainly awesome for watching Netflix in HDR. And S Pen is superior to capacitive Apple pen.

Tablet app support is definitely a big downfall for Android, which sucks for tablets like the s4 that have so much potential
