Ultimal straps landed today for my GWU; had these straps for my AWU & AWU2 and they're superbly made. Wash really well too

Great if you've large wrists; comfy as well 👌🏼

I traded in 3x Pixel Watches (2x gen 1 and a gen 2) and got a Galaxy Watch 5 Pro at weekend, didn't cost me anything (I actually came out with more cash) and I love it so far. Had been tempted to get the Ultra but not had a Samsung watch since the 4 so didn't really want to drop £600 on it.

I'll try and ride out the 5 Pro until next years Ultra 2.

The SWUs are on eBay for c£450-£500 currently; brand new/unopened ;)

Still more expensive than the £0 I paid for my Watch 5 Pro. 😂

Very true!

I'm fairly well quids-in now after selling my 15PM and AWU2 on eBay with their 80% off fees and getting a superb deal/cash back from Samsung re the S24U

Got the SWU via eBay too, brand new/sealed etc + an extra Trail loop strap for sensible £££ - very happy with all that :)

Got a question for all you ultra watch owners. I've noticed the watch dials have a bit of shadow on them and it seems to be properly even doubt so to speak, does that change according to the light that shines from one side to the other or from top to bottom on the wash? Does the watch actually shade the dials?Accordingly?

I‘m eagerly awaiting delivery on a new Pixel 9 Pro Fold next week and would like to pair it with a Wear OS smartwatch. Bit of background/requirements:

I’m a longtime Apple Watch user, currently using Apple Watch Ultra 2 and love just about everything about it. I consider myself a smart watch power user and use my AWU2 for just about everything. I do all of the following and I will use it often without my phone nearby (must be able to add a cellular connection).

  • Listen to music, both via streaming or offline (use Apple Music but can also use YouTube Music)
  • Audiobooks via Audible (can listen offline with downloaded content, no phone required)
  • Podcasts via Pocket Casts (must be able to download for offline listening)
  • Navigation via Apple Maps—assuming I can do the same with Google Maps
  • Login Authentication via Authy
  • Shopping Lists via AnyList
  • Carrot Weather
  • Fitbod and Athlytic
  • Workouts tracking via Fitbod, Apple Fitness+ and t
I also subscribe to Apple’s Fitness+ and understand this won’t be available. I also use Apple Health as a repository for all of my health and fitness data and prefer to utilize Google’s equivalent. I don’t want to rely on the Samsung ‘ecosystem’ for any of the health management not for other software if possible.

I’m not generally a fan of Samsung’s smartphone products nor their version of Android but the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra appears to be the obvious Android analogue to the AWU2. That being said, I also have a $350 credit in the Google Store that I could put towards the new, larger Pixel Watch. Just trying to figure out if there are any software compromises on either device because if it was just about the hardware, I’ll leaning very strongly toward the Galaxy Watch Ultra.

Any advice is appeciated.

You can use most of the Samsung Wearable apps on any Android device

I used the Watch 6 Classic 47mm with my Pixel Fold and it did all I needed it to (this is coming from an AWU2 and 15PM)

I've currently got my SWU paired with my S24U but I think I'll be moving that on (and my Pixel Fold) for the 9 Pro Fold in a week or so and will pair that with my SWU also

It does all I need inc recording my training, 4G connection etc etc... I don't use 80% of the Samsung capabilities really; but wanted the largest Android watch as my arms/wrists/hands aren't small and Pixel watches look daft on me

I have got Google Fit installed but haven't used it yet; I will try that for my next training session tomorrow and report back

I would highly recommend the SWU as IMO it's as good as the AWU2; I prefer the build of it TBH, it feels more like a watch, if that makes sense?

Just bought the Watch 7 for my S24U. I wish the Ultra wasn't as expensive as it was which is why I went with the Watch 7. Also, the Ultra looks pretty bulky to me. I've had a Samsung watch before so hopefully I enjoy this watch as well.

There is a LOT better Fitness apps and training outside of Apple even if you sticked with their products. I've personally felt the bundle in AppleOne subscription was daft - just as bad as their Cloud storage prices and lack of being more competitive with storage sizes given the pricing. Simply rude in my opinion! And there is no bigger value attained therein either.

Muscle building training app & tracking on both platforms:
Strong!
Lots of great classic proven exercises that do NOt cause injury lost with modern day AI junk apps marketed to beginners that don't understand you need to learn your body through the exercises you have.

Samsung's Health app in terms of fitness has a plethora of training options and nutrition guides chartered to what type of training you're looking for and is quite good getting training from various sources not just the trendy studio trainers from limited selection that Aplle currently does. We've already seen certain trainers under Apple Fitness+ quit due to heavy restrictions doing what they love for theie own growth and teaching outside of Apple being penalized and restricted. That's not even American by my recollection of 51yr being alive.

Have a look on PlayStire via browser and look at apps you're after for compatibility or on your current iPhone via App Store look at your apps and reach put to the development teams ans inquire variances for the Android version eoth Android hardware. Hoping member friends here and sources gets thr full hamsters you need.

Huge battery drain on my GWU this morning. 1.5 hour train journey and it's dropped from full to 48% and I've not used it...

Wonder if it's LTE connection draining it, trying to get signal etc...

Put it on power saver now as won't be home until this evening and no charger with me! Lesson learned, pack a charger to connect to my powerbank 🤔

I doubt it's that, If you're watch is connected to your phone then it shouldn't be looking for lte connection.
