Edit: even mentioning who is still alive in season 8 is technically a spoiler

I know what you're saying, but I disagree. I believe that after 24 hours from broadcast there is no need of a spoiler tag when the discussion is in a container such as in a thread. A random FB post that appears on the screen is different as the user has no real control of it.

Sounds like another reason I’ve never wanted a FB account.

Oh dear. Everyone watched it Monday in the office accept one guy who was a day behind. He spent Tuesday with his headphones on!

I work with someone who's on season 4, episode 3. He's having a tough time avoiding news about season 8.

Recent posts about season 8, including mine, have included spoiler tags. But it takes a bit more time to write and even more time to read them, especially when they quote other, similarly-tagged posts. I just looked through a few posts from previous seasons, and they largely seem to have omitted these tags, probably under the assumption that people should know to stay away until they've seen the latest episode.

So, for the remaining five weeks of GoT's run, maybe we can omit the spoiler tags unless we're posting something like a leak about as-yet-unreleased episodes, including how GoT ends.

Well, leaks or spoilers for episodes not yet aired shouldn’t be discussed at all here, even with spoiler tags.

I don’t know if the mods will allow us to discuss aired episodes without using spoiler tags (which I’d be fine with), but for the time being, I simplified my last post to just include a single spoiler tag encompassing everything instead of multiple.

Those who watch it a day or two behind when it airs are going to have a tough time not hearing about the episodes. There is way to much pent up energy for this series.

You definitely have to stay off of social media if you don't want to see anything resembling a spoiler. Then again, I don't think there was much to spoil in the first episode as it was more of an entrance into the setting for the new and last season. The pace should pick up quickly though as there are only 5 episodes left.

I’m going to use them just because I’d hate to run into a spoiler myself, but I do tend to agree: for an event like this (or like when the last HP book landed) it’s on you if you fall behind and go anywhere in public, lol.

And avoid offices, canteens and family and friends!

On one hand - catch up. In the other hand having an “aired episodes” thread seems like a good middle ground.

Wow quite an episode. They really cut the fat out at this pace, and get right to business.

Did not see the Ayra scene coming. Not sure how I feel about it. Also not sure how I feel about Dany these days. Jon could’ve been a bit more tactful telling her the deal. But I guess I was wrong about him insisting he’d already bent the knee.

Does tonight’s episode break the bran-is-the-night-king theory? I wasn’t big on that one anyway.

The lighter mood seems to foreshadow a lot of death next episode....

Stayed awake eating chocolate and drinking tea lol
The whole Arya/Gendry thing just doesn’t seem realistic to me. Too much of an age gap between them. I think the writers just added that in because some fans wanted it. Gendry met Arya when he was late teens/early 20’s and Arya was 12. Their relationship should be more of a little sister/big brother friendship, unless he’s into young girls!

Brianne of Tarth got knighted by Jamie. Never heard of a non-monarch knighting anyone before. I don’t see why Jamie just didn’t Knight everyone else who was there too?

The guy formerly known as Jon Snow told his new Auntie who he was. I think she puked a little bit in her mouth, then her inner tyrant shone through and she told him that he has a claim on the iron throne too. 3 horns sounded (white walkers) and so they could no longer continue their conversation and instead had to look at each other in silence, then walk with each other to the battlements in silence, then once there have another glance at each other in silence.

The episode contained a few meaningless extras talking and so this means they will die.

2/3rds of the way through this episode I was thinking to myself that nothing has really happened.

I really need to go sleep now lol 3:42am here

Spoilers through S8:Ep1&2-
I pulled the trigger on subscribing, and we watched the Season 7 final and S8 Ep1&2. This series has serious pull and I was getting a lot of nostalgic feeling with the group around the fireplace, reminiscing along with other get togethers, one hook up, and one wannabe hookup. ;) Yes, it was slow, but in a good way, an appropriate way to lead up to a big battle. Cliche? Maybe, but I enjoyed it.

I have frequently complained about 5 minute battles in this series, but I’m hoping next week will be the exception and we will see something thrilling. One of the key issues will be how to deal with the White dragon. And hopefully both not just one of Danny’s dragons survive this part.

Th dynamic between competing heirs to the Iron Throne should be interesting, but I’m not anticipating hostility, but with this series, who knows? :)

Hey, she is an adult by every measure. :) It’s not Earth, but it is medieval in feel, a time in human history when puberty defined adulthood.

Did it happen in the book? Time will tell, but one thing about the TV series vs the book, these characters like Arya Stark, 9 years old at the start of the series, were played by older actors. (Book age at start of story: Rob 15, Jon 14, Sansa 11, Brandon 7, Rickon 3) link. Additionally it has been estimated 5-6 years have passed since the start of the story as of 2016. Link.

From a trivia standpoint Maisie Williams who plays Ayra was 13 in 2011 when the series started.

Really you didn’t see it coming? I thought it was on. Especially when she keeps going to watch him work!

About 2/3rds through this weeks episode I started getting concerned that they were going to squeeze in the battle this week.
Glad they didn’t.
But it will be interesting to see who doesn’t make it. They can’t all survive.

Also is it just me that thinks putting all the women and children in the crypt is a bad idea? Isn’t a crypt where they bury the dead? Anyone think that might be a problem as the Knight king approach’s?

That never crossed my mind! I wonder what kind of proximity to the Night King, willfulness on his part, and condition of the corpse is required for the transformation? I’d imagine there comes a point where a couple of bones laying on the ground would not become animated or the crypts might see some Jason and the Argonauts action. Although they would have to bust out of their crypts and it’s been shown a wooden box can restrain them.

Regarding animation of dead tissue, I tend to apply some logic to such a premise, yet for The Walking Dead I was able to throw logic to the wind. :)

You maybe right. Maybe a headless Ned Stark won’t be making an appearance!

she sure looked disappointed.

I lost a little respect for Daenerys Targaryen when Jon Snow told her that he was the rightful heir to the throne. Though I can understand her being a little disappointed by the news, but I thought she would be more appalled when she found out that she was sleeping with her brother.:D
