Netflix flops and they're never heard from again
Disney has already "amicably split" with them for the next Star Wars trilogy.
The fallout from GoT last few seasons has really tarnished D&D's standing.

Yeah, supreme irony seems to be they killed their golden goose to jump on the 'bigger and better' Star Wars opportunity, but GoT is likely the biggest and most successful thing they will ever do and they passed up on the opportunity for another 2 seasons of it chasing something which has come to nothing...Disney has already "amicably split" with them for the next Star Wars trilogy.

Sadly it’s us the viewers who lost out a well.Yeah, supreme irony seems to be they killed their golden goose to jump on the 'bigger and better' Star Wars opportunity, but GoT is likely the biggest and most successful thing they will ever do and they passed up on the opportunity for another 2 seasons of it chasing something which has come to nothing...
i started again for the maybe the 9th timeSomehow I find myself watching the series from the beginning. Really good at the start!

Season 1 Summary: Those bastard, backstabbing, might makes right Lannisters, (except for Tyrion) and dragons!I really don't blame D&D for the underwhelming final season. I blame GRRM who couldn't come up with a book in almost a decade. I bet D&D never dreamed they'd actually have to write the ending for him back in 2009/2010 when all this started rolling. I'm sure they were promised the show wouldn't pass the books and then it did.......
The real disappointment is that the ending of the book series is never going to see print. Winds of Winter is nowhere in sight and then there's one more after that? Yeah right and I laid some dragon eggs this morning.
(FWIW, I rewatched the whole thing last year and I still loved it. When watched as a whole, the final seasons aren't as bad as people think. They play fairly well as the finale of a very long movie.)
I think HBOs ending will also be GRRM's ending albeit he'll take a different route to get there and it will obviously be a lot more detailed which is probably my biggest gripe with the last two seasons - they were too short! If HBO spent a little more time fleshing out their ending I'm sure it would have been better received. The last two seasons should have been 10 episodes each giving more time to show Ds turn to madness, etc.etc. It all happened too quick - even one extra episode could have made a huge difference.Season 1 Summary: Those bastard, backstabbing, might makes right Lannisters, (except for Tyrion) and dragons!
After I watched the the series final (originally televised) I remember pondering if if this ending was GRRM’s or HBO’s producers idea of a good ending?
This remains the best ending I have heard described (earlier in this thread). It is brilliant:
I really hope this is not GRRM’s book ending. But you are right the last season was so short changed that the change in Daenerys’s personality was a bolt out of the blue, a slap in the face. It would have taken a lot of effort that was not applied to make this change seem reasonable or plausible. It does not matter if her Father was mad or not, we watched 8 years of a focused consistent personality, just to witness an implausible transformation (IMO ).I think HBOs ending will also be GRRM's ending albeit he'll take a different route to get there and it will obviously be a lot more detailed which is probably my biggest gripe with the last two seasons - they were too short! I'm not sure where you got all that, but there's such a thing as contractual obligation. 😛Yes, HBO wrote D&D open checks to make this happen.... but majority of the actors were ready to be done with it. They had to balance that out too. What happens when you tell the cast that the last two seasons are actually going to be 15 episodes each to tell the full story, and half of your main characters prepare to walk. Every time there was an actor change, it was duly noted by the fans. What do you do if Maisie Williams just says, "look, I'm done. I am not filming that many more episodes."
But her change wasn't as sudden as people like to make it. She always had the madness in her, it was just never the forefront to her personality because she didn't always have the power to fortify it.
The witch that made her barren, she torched her in the house even though she was warned against trying to save Khal Drogo.
Think about when her brother was crowned, she had no remorse, and actually enjoyed it. The slavers and magisters that she strung up to prove her point, even though advisors said it wouldn't be the best actions.
You can say each of these wronged her, but it was the same at the end. It was her perception of them versus me.
edit: And I honestly didn't have an issue with the last season, just wish it was some more episodes to flesh it out a bit more rather than the bug jumps in movement.

We as fans don't always know the reasons why things are the way they are.
who is directing it? hopefully not the same clowns who butchered the last season.House of the Dragon looks promising!
No, it's a group of directors taking different episodes. Rhys Ifans and Eve Best in the same series? I'm in ...who is directing it? hopefully not the same clowns who butchered the last season.
