Meanwhile, Apple has begun to revoke privileges for tech magazines that test if the iPhone can be bent...

http://www.neowin.net/news/apple-pr-responds-to-bendgate-by-retracting-popular-magazines-privileges

From that article:

Apple is notorious in the way they control the media and makes sure their message gets out to the public, but this is a striking example of that control.

Computer Bild, Europe’s best-selling computer magazine had their Apple privileges revoked after they posted this video, which shows one of their journalists bending an iPhone. The company told them they would no longer receive review units or be invited to any Apple events.

that is extremely believable,

was interesting how nbc was talking about bendgate on day one, then never mentioned it again on subsequent days

they always use apple products on set, from the today show to the tonight show, was surprised to even hear them talk about the bending to begin with

Gapgate... it's real

They ran the story people got bored of it and they moved on.

They probably also realised this was a non-issue apart from a youtuber with a clear agenda and the objective of making mega bucks with hits on his video.

They probably also realised that 30 cases in 10M gives a percentage of 0.0003% of bent phones.

You have a better chance of getting hit by lightning....

so now we're up to 30 cases?

I would wager they were 'urged' to get bored of it, like said above

http://www.oneofthenine.com account 30 cases of bent phones.

Although to reach this number they included 5 bent demo phones in Apple stores and even the phone Lewis bent on YouTube.

In any case just for benefit of doubt as said 30 in 10M is a ridiculous 0.0003%

To even reach 1% you would need 10 thousand cases and even then not sure 1% would count for much.....

how many on 1 to 9 are recycled photos, same phone different twitter user accounts?

we could be here all day....

implying that an iphone 6 or 6 plus owner in this day and age doesnt have a twitter, instagram or facebook account and with all the hype about bent iphones wouldnt post one photo to any of these social outlets....

I am not implying anything like that....in fact I would agree that photos are being recycled and tweets are retweeted and so on. Bendgate was trending on all social media. Its the world we live in.....

But i think also you would have to agree that Apple personnel have been instructed to not report bended iphones. To be clear I think it is only the IP6+. I have a IP6 and have no issues with it in my front pockets. I don't wear skinny jeans or anything close to that either.

That is so photoshopped. I can't believe you posted that.
I hope you can tell it was faked.

Can't believe someone would photoshop a pic like that. What's the point? It's not even funny or witty. Just fake.

I dis agree. If it was done in away to mock Samsung that it's a feature yes. Like the bent iPhone 6 bowing down to the note 4.
They was witty and a play on bent gate.

Maybe if the photo showed it like a bill from a restaurant and a waitress/waiter sticks the card with the s-pen next to it for your signature, that would Have been witty.

Also that photoshop is just bad. Didn't even try to get the reflection right.

I know it's a fake because I made it myself. It took me about 5 mins in Pixlr which is a basic web based image editor. I know the reflection isn't right but it didn't matter, it's meant to be a joke not to be taken seriously.

Not an apologist....but show me the damage to the phone. Show me the issue. Show me if that damages the phone in anyway. Show me where Samsung has said it was a design flaw. Show me where Apple can say the same about the design flaw in the IP6+. It is too thin and long which leads to bending. It is made of a soft aluminum metal that is known to bend. You can't deny that. It is basic physics.......
Funny how you will believe anything Apple tells you.....

SEE??? This is what I have been trying to explain to some die hards of both camps. Regardless of what company does reviews on these phones they are NOT going to bite the hand that feeds them. Sometimes they might feel brave enough to offer a negative point or two just to appear objective, but in reality it is all about support and advertising for the companies who pay them, either by ad revenue or as a retainer.

The ONLY way to know if a phone is better for YOU is to go test it. Put it through your own paces and if it meets your needs then that should be good enough.

Just gotta say it, this gap issue is ********.

It's being blown up as a reaction to "bent gate" and is just being petty.

Then there was the IOS 8 update that bricked 40,000 iPhones but whose counting right?

What's the definition of bricked? Because I downloaded iOS 8.0.1, temporarily lost cellular function but was able to easily restore to 8.0 that evening.

Doesn't "bricked" imply a device that no longer works - ala it becomes just a "brick"?

Good grief this thread went to hell fast....I'm surprised it's still open.

Bendgate will out live gapgate. Apple might send everyone a voucher for free bumpers that prevent bending. :p
