scem0 said:Yeah, I'd think they'd be about the same, but that goes to show you that children will do what children do no matter how hard you try to repress it. Children looking for naughty gay stories will read them whether they are at MacRumors or somewhere else.
Goodmorning, Lee. You slept through a storm, of sorts.

scem0 said:Yeah, I read your rant and I agree with you 100% - we need to stand up for what we are and fight for our freedom to be ourselves. I'm impressed with the whole band thing, what part of this band were you?
I always wish that I had learnt to play piano during elementary school or high school. I consider myself to have good rythm and timing in regards to music, but I've never pursued such things. I've been singing all my life, but I'm no good and I know it. Singing is like dancing though, it's not about being good, it's about enjoying yourself. I'm one of those people who can't listen to music without singing along.

scem0 said:Oooh a singer, I love that. I think it'd be safe to assume that you don't sound like Mariah?
As for Garageband, that'll be one of the first things on my list of things to do once I get my powerbook. Hopefully they will come out on the 19th as rumored.
<crosses fingers>
I was hoping for an Intel-processor powerbook, but I'm not nerdy enough to care anymore. All I really plan on doing now that I'm getting out of 'Design and Technology' at my school, and into 'Design and Management', the only thing I plan on doing on my computer is listen to music, email, word process, internet, etc.

I hope you (mods) consider undoing this.
leekohler said:While I agree things got a little carried away in this thread and it needs to be toned down, this is the part of your post I vehemently disagree with. Coming from extremely conservative Ohio, I can tell you that being exactly who I am is what got me through it. If you haven't caught on by now, I can be quite the bulldozer. I could give a crap what anyone thinks of me and make no concessions just because an area is conservative. When I was in school in a small college town in Ohio, I made a point of being loud, out and proud. I spoke in classes and at protests and had a punk band. The band got quite graphic onstage as well-think of the famous Bowie/Mick Ronson photo from the seventies and magnify that times ten. That was during the Reagan/Bush years too. While I think many people were shocked, and the crowds at our shows were small at first- we ended up being so popular by the end of my time there that lines would form around the block for our gigs (even with tons of frat boys, no lie). My parents came to our very last show and were amazed. They said, "How in the world did you do this?" My answer was by being exactly who I am and not hiding a thing.
Point is- I don't think we do ourselves any favors by trying to make others comfortable. Do I need to broadcast a video from my bedroom? No. But sooner or later, people are going to have to deal with us on our terms and agree to some sort of mutual respect. Life is too damn short to worry about what someone else may think of you. I believe we cheat ourselves and others when we try to make ourselves "palatable" to the mainstream world.
Whoa! Ok, I'm ranting.Love you guys!
I would do that, but I live in little Mormon town USA. Although, I've heard rumors about other persons being gay and that, one of them I did know and he knew I was and all that. Anyways, its just more of the fact of who you know, and what can/may or may not happen. Otherwise I would wear a gay pride t-shirt around. But its the persons I know and that. People lose respect just because of the justifications on their own perspective ideas. Even if they aren't right, they still hold them to their own values and pressure and hold it against you. Make sense? That's just why I won't.fklehman said:I'm just a breeder, so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about. Smack me down if I am wrong. But it seems to me that homosexuals absolutely need to come out of the closet and live "in our faces" if they want to someday be equal. It's been my experience that the people who are most likely to support gay rights are those who actually know gay people. Policy and philosophical debate just cannot compare to personal experience in terms of its power to change people's minds. I think that to stay in the closet is actually counterproductive for the "movement." The sooner you can start coming up to people and just saying straight up (no pun intended) who your are, the sooner those people start to see that you're not that different from them. If you live in secrecy the stereotypes and preconceptions never get challenged.

I wouldn't, cause I know what and why. I'd get banned too if I did that.edesignuk said:Don't.
I remember my first banning... Ahh how that day went by. I posted a topic that should have been else where, but they closed the sub-forum so I just posted it in Community, they banned me, I asked why, told them I didn't know that there was a reason they blocked the sub-forum where it should have been, so all in all, the ban was lifted from me.edesignuk said:Before this does get out of hand, relax, he'll be back soon enough.
