Don't know if you guys have been in the Mac Rumors Pics thread lately, but I had dinner with Chip NoVaMac and PlaceofDis last night. It was great! We had really good conversation and took some pics as well. It was so cool to finally meet face-to-face. They are both great guys. Chip is a very warm, sweet man and PlaceofDis, well-HOT. ;)

Well thanks, I think. :D "A very warm, sweet man" for me, and a "well-HOT" for PlaceofDis? :D :) Now I am hurt! :D

Both of you were great to be with for my first evening in Chicago. And if I can say, I am surprised that you are not "off the market". PlaceofDis does have GF's.

I'm back :D.

Where should I start?

Me getting banned - I wrote about that on my blog, so I won't go into too much detail. I was asking for it. "Rules are rules but reality is reality" is how I ended my blog post, and I think that sums up my opinion. Anyways, I had a bunch of homework due yesterday and today, and I definitely wouldn't have gotten it done had I been able to post :p, so it was a blessing in disguise. Thanks for all the kind words everyone, they are very much appreciated.

Jamba Juice - Love it! There is one a block or two away from my dorm that I have to pass every morning before school. I wish they were more affordable, 5 bucks for a smoothie is a bit steep for me . Hopefully I will have more time next semester to work, I've been talking to the higher-ups at my school and it looks like I'll have an interesting schedule next semester because I'm planning on transferring out of my current program. Anyways, I'm rambling. I used to get the Peanut Butter Moo'd which is horrible for you, but now I get the strawberries wild without the ice cream, much better for you and doesn't leave you feeling bogged down. I usually get the energy boost, but I've always wanted to get the femme boost just to see the sales person's reaction :).

Frozone's situation - So sorry to hear that your friend's family is close minded :(. He definitely needs to get out of his parent's sphere of influence. Having him secretly get a cell phone sounds like a great idea. Maybe one of those pay as you go in cash phones to avoid bills, etc. Anyways, best of luck regarding you and your friend, it's an unfortunate situation :(.

My life - I went to Avalon and had an adventure. I was dumb and I regret what I did, but It's not granny-safe. Blog :).

Lee, Chip, Place - wish I could have been there, sounds like it was a great time.

Oh, Lee, I just left an audio comment for Patrick, Noah, and Scott :). I sounded really dumb, but I tend to sound that way on the phone .

Feels great to be back,

_Emerson

Welcome back!

Maybe I can swing a trip up to NYC when Lee comes for a visit.

glad you enjoyed your trip Chip!

sorry the weather was less than perfect, it happens here though. i saw that you were at Navy Pier, how did you find it to be? (thats where my stores are btw, hence why i am asking).

you did cover a lot of ground, i would have loved to be able to have been able to go with you one some of those trips, but family and work called sadly.

i hope that you come back and for a longer stay next time around. soooo much to see and do here.

Despite some fits and starts (like who designed the signage at ORD to lead travelers to the Blue Line. For me misleading for the trip into the city, much better for those returning from the city. Some plan for us to break down for a shuttle or a cab?

I was given a CTA 7-day pass at ORD with enough time left on the card that I did not have to pay for a single trip!

My only gripe about the weather on Day 2 was that it was never on weather.com. That may have been my first mistake. My second was believing the news that morning that said that Chicago would only see passing "sprinkles" till the sun coming out in the afternoon.

The Navy Pier was cool. If it hadn't been a double whammy of my ankle and disappointment on the cruise for Day 3, I might have had a bit more fun. Wishing I had gone down there after our dinner together. So what stores are yours down there?

I will be planning on other trips out to Chicagoland (did I get the lingo right?). Though be careful on what you ask for. :D

I am a traveler that hears or sees something, and has to go off in that direction. Back in '96 my ex and I went to SF. We started our new day at the Ansel Adams Museum. We came out of the museum, and I swore that I saw the Golden Gate Bridge off in the distance (it was the Oakland). I realized the mistake on;y making it to Embarcedro (sp?). At that point I knew the road ended up at the Golden Gate Bridge. We made it as far as Fisherman's Warf. Then I noticed Coit Tower, and insisted that we walk up there! And that was on Day 1 in SF back then!

It was only today that I picked up a copy of Where Magazine at the Navy Pier. Wish I had seen that on Day 1. I would have visited Andersonville for sure.

I may have to rearrange some of my travel plans for 2006. It included at least two trips to SF. One of those might have to be Chicago! In the least. Or I may have to look at cheap fares to Chicago. It will be getting tough for me to travel out that way till after the New Year.

Far easier for me to plan trips to NYC prior to the New Year (watch out scem0!).

After getting stuck in traffic driving home from IAD this evening, I really missed being in Chicago with the CTA at my pleasure! 20 miles via highways at 6:30PM, and it took almost an hour! It also made me feel good to walk a few blocks here and there to get to the buses or subway.

I would love to move up their with the right job in order afford one of the skyscraper apartments in the North Lake area (near the Deversy and Clark area - or on the 151 line).

I did get a copy of the photographic resellers from the Yellow Pages. Not that I an see myself with Ritz/Wolf at this point in my life. That would be like going to work for Walmart! But there is Calumet and Central camera shops up there. And I think my shops owners might be helpful in getting me placed up there if I wanted to.

A bit early for those choices despite my pleasure in Chicago. For the only real side of Chicago I saw was really only with you and Lee. And also with my brief visit to Roscoe's in Boystown.

Boy, was Lee right about the North Side vs. the South Side! I think that I was the only one into the game on Sunday night!

BTW: In talking with one of my fellow bus riders this past weekend, I mentioned how "nice" the ridership was compared to bus ridership in the DC area. She did say that it depended on the "line". She suggested that I take a ride on the "Ship of Fools" bus line - but I forgot what bus line she mentioned. Do you know what line it was?

Speaking of bus lines. The worst that I was on was the 66/Chicago line! The only time I felt uncomfortable riding busses in Chicago. To be fair I was only on the 22, 151, 65, 66, 3, and the Red. Blue, and Brown lines on the subway.

Oh, between you and Lee - I feel so great about myself! :D I am starting to feel like that person being fixed up on a blind date: "but he has a great personality". :)

To be honest 13+ years of a comforting relationship with an "enabler" that wanted a "larger" man (you have to understand the "chubby/bear" scene) . Add to that I was afraid of massive weight loss after the breakup - given what the ex was going through. Some how I dodged the bullet. So now I can look to getting myself back to where I really want to be.

Joking aside, thank you and Lee for the compliments. <blush>

You two are the best. Enjoyed dinner with you both. And hope that my next visit that we all will be able to get together for my sightseeing.

Great pictures. You all look great. It's a little strange to see PlaceofDis smiling and with glasses, though. ;)

Chip's Chicago

Chip,
Back home after doing a quick trip to town to see three clients and quaffing a couple of Tall Blondes - what else. I've had time to look at the photos from your trip. Very nice. I really regret not being able to enter the States, but perhaps if I came in through Canada and slip over the border ??? But then I may be an American 'guest' for quite some time, maybe they'd just deport me.
It sounds like you had a most enjoyable time with Lee and Tim. It's nice to be able to pin people down and nail a face to a name. Ah that didn't come out right but you know what I mean.
Cheers,
Kevin,

Oh, and welcome back Emerson. *heads off to read the blog*

Edit: I just read the blog. *chuckle* It sure isn't granny safe. :D

Hey welcome back Emerson :) always good to have you around mate.

Lee, Chip Looks like you guys had a good time in Chicago. (Cool pics of the city btw Chip) Makes me want to organise a London get together :D . Any takers??

Ok so here's a question for you guys, especially the more experienced ones, lee, chip, kevin i'm looking at you :)

Do you guys still fall for straight guys from time to time? Happened to me recently. I was in Munich for oktoberfest and ended up spending a fair bit of time with a mate of one of my mates. We chatted for ages, got drunk together and just had a really good time. During the day he asks me if i'm gay to which i respond that i am. He says that he thought so and thats cool, he just wanted to confirm what he had thought. At some point during the day it dawned on me that i was falling for this guy. After Munich i chalked it up to just being drunk (very drunk!)

So last weekend met him again when we both joined our mutual friend for some beers. And i must say i fell for him again, whilst sober this time round. Now i'm pretty certain that he's not gay. (Well aside from my hopes and prayers aside that is) So theres not much hope, pity because we really, really get along.

Now i normally don't fall for straight guys (it's just way too frustrating) but it seems i have this time. Nothing to do but get over it (quickly)

Straight guys? HELL NO. They're good for being friends, watching sports and some laughs, but otherwise, no f***ing way. I use to play that little game in college and it was no fun:

1. The sex was always terrible. After all, they just want to get off- they don't care about you.

2. Then afterwards, you get the "Don't tell anyone. I really AM straight!". I would just think "Yes, I know you are. I just slept with you, and believe me, it's obvious."

No offense meant to all the straight guys here.

I have no experience, but I totally agree.

If there's no intimacy then there is no joy. I wouldn't have sex with a straight person, I might as well... do it myself. Sorry, I had something else written and realized it wasn't granny-safe.

I agree also. Intimacy should involve committed relationship.

What happens in November?

Now stop it! You should know by now how much I love my blonds and redheads. :)

I think I'm off the market by choice for now. I'm way too busy with work and such. I don't have time for such things at the moment. Who said I don't have boyfriends? The relationships usually only last a couple hours, that's all. :) And even those I've slowed down on. Truth is- I just haven't really come across anyone who really makes me want to be attached.

I'm afraid so, yes ! It's a peril that goes with the territory I'm sorry to report. It can have a frustrating upside to it though. I know a hell of a lot of straight guys as well as my gay friends. Funnily enough some of the gays, don't know that I am gay. But, back to the straights. A goodly proportion of these upright pillars (of the community) given the right circumstances will join in for the occasional night of sexual dalliance. Unfortunately it's invariably at a time of their choosing, which often adds to the frustration. Also often, they just go their owns ways just when you think there may be some future in the relationship.

So to sum up, and only speaking from my own experiences. Yes, I do fall for straights. I think moreoften than those of the Family. In my limited experience, it'll invariably lead to pain and heart ache. So is it worth it. I guess it must judging by the number of times I have succumbed to their charms. Perhaps as I expect the worst to be the end result, I'm preempting the end. Frustrating as finding a gay bonk in a bordello.

Actually Emerson, you summed it up better than I did in my post. Yeah, there can often be sex, but it invariably comes with a 'no kissing' caveat. I'll just ensure that I leave a bite on a concealed portion of their anatomy so they'll remember for about a week. And after rocks are off, even for me I don't recollect the event with any real feeling of joy as you so eloquently put it.
