My store says you check in 10-15 minutes before your appt. The appt is only 10 mins so I guess they think that is significant enough. If everyone is late three minutes in an hour, they will be two spots late for each hour which throws off a lot of people.

I was nearly half an hour late to a mac appointment on saturday due to not being able to park! I apologised to the girl with the ipad and she said she'd see what she could do. Luckily one of the geniuses was just finishing up a bit early and agreed to see me :) Worked out in my favour actually as he was trying to get through it quickly so he gave me a new magsafe charger for free instead of charging me £55 :D

May have also helped that I'm a student and I think he is/was recently and could see the pain on my face when he told me how much it would be :p

In no way and I mean NO WAY is this the customer's fault.

This is a perfect example of poor customer service on Apple's part.

Normally I wouldn't even post on threads like this, but the fact that anybody could even side with the Apple store is beyond me...

The Apple Store/Genius are there to provide CUSTOMER SERVICE! For anybody to deny service after only 3 minutes is just Apple dropping the ball on their part.

There obviously should be a built in grace period to accommodate customer's busy schedules... And if there isn't, it would be a glaring flaw in Apple's set up because all it does is provide an opportunity to provide poor customer service whenever a customer is late... Which is inevitable.

And the fact that there are people posting that they have to wait 10, 15, or more minutes for their appointment is ridiculous... It's a 2 way street, if Apple is going to deny someone service Due to being 3 minutes late then they should do something for all the customers that have to wait way past their appointment times.

Ive had to wait over 45 mins before! Compensate me with free Applecare! ;)

Seriously, book early appointments as the later you book the more chance of having to wait

tardiness is my biggest pet peeve. I am glad they made you come back :)

You have to understand the last few weeks are their busiest time of the year.

Be on time. Not that hard.

If they allow it as policy, and 10 people decide to just show up when they feel like it, how do you think the guy at 5PM feels waiting 30 minutes because 10 people before him were 3 minutes late?

It's good customer service for all the customers that come after you. And a good life lesson in responsibility for you.

try using the same argument, and same pathetic eye roll smiley at your doctors next time you're late being seen. Its just the way the world works. :)

Terrible analogy.
People have to go to a Genius Bar because of problems that arise on their brand new phone; so who caused the problem? Apple

I don't think you visit the doctor because he/she made you sick?

Use some logic before you post.

I've missed many a plane when I was three minutes late. Doors closed early and they pushed back right on time.

Sure the geniuses make you wait. So do airplanes, doctors, trains, restaurants, barbershops, etc. The difference is, when you show up they don't know if you are 3 minutes late or a no-show. So they do they only thing they can and take the next guest.

#1. Scuffed iPhone
#2. Wifi blows
and now...
#3. 3 mins late for my 12:30 appointment means I have to come back at 7pm.

Apple... you're pissing in my Cheerios a lot this week.

Your lack of punctuality should require the next person to have to wait longer for their turn?

Self centered much?

The difference is that the customer only has to worry about their own schedule, whereas Apple will have a long list.

Imagine if every customer was three minutes late and each appointment ran over by three minutes. With ten appointments, appointment number 11 could have to wait half an hour because the previous ten people were late.

Take your own advice. Your point is completely immaterial - its still an appointment. The problem causer is entirely irrelevant, and not always apple anyway.

Fool.

To be fair it doesn't really matter - if it was me next in line, and they'd let him in, I'd probably just kick his head in and demand more applecare from the genius.

Exactly. There are a lot of people here who don't seem to get this. When you're next and you're not there, you're a no-show. I'm sure they get a lot of useless no-shows in a week. They just move right on to the next one. The person not on time loses.

I'm frequently late by a few minutes for Apple appointments seeing as the store is an hour and a half away. They are usually the ones running late though. I've waited upto 45 minutes after my appointment time. If they said I was late by 3 minutes I would have asked for a manager.

you were 3 minutes late so deal with it . I would be early to my own funeral and was taught by my dad to always show up 20 to 30 minutes early in case you have a flat or other car trouble etc

I hate when people are late to anything. Being on time is a pet peeve of mine.

That being said, I don't know how long Apple does their appointment for. Maybe 10 or 15 minute slots? I would say if he showed up 3 minutes late, he's still within his allocated time slot. If they took the next customer in line, they should have at least said, you weren't here so we took the next guy in line. Stand by and we'll squeeze you in asap.
